Cathy, I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. It is sad indeed that she almost beat cancer only to be taken by pneumonia.

Jmallonee, I am happy to hear about your husband's recovery, and I totally understand about having to recover from spending time at the hospital. I spent way too much time at the hospital last year with my husband, who has heart problems. He is doing much better now, and I am hoping to avoid all hospitals during 2014!

I joined this group because my husband is being treated for ALL Leukemia. He was stationed in Afghanistan when he was diagnosed last April. After a stem cell transplant July 30th he is well on the road to recovery. Now it is time for my recovery, sitting in a hospital at bedside for 7+ months with only hospital vending machine food or McDonalds available.. I packed on the pounds.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

I joined this group when my 4 year old niece was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic (not sure I spelled that right) Lymphoma. I was looking for more information about it and came across this group.

This past summer my niece (6 years old) died of pneumonia due to a compromised immune system because of the cancer. It was heart breaking to know that she was only 2 weeks shy of completing her 2 year cancer treatment program - just when we thought she would be in the clear- pneumonia is thrown her way.

I do understand what you have gone through and know that treatments have come a long way in the last 30 years and one day I hope they can cure all cancer.

I joined this group to show my support for LLS. My mother died of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma 30 years ago. The treatments they had back then were not as effective as current treatments. I want to show support for those who are surviving as well as those, like my mother, who did not survive, their battle with leukemia or lymphoma.
