Congrats on your new grandson, and yes, thank goodness he came early! Glad everyone is doing well. emoticon

I saw that the All-Star game is going to be there-I'm pretty excited! And I plan on being there, if I start saving now :) Tickets won't be cheap!

I'll have to see if I can catch your nephew on ESPNU, any baseball aspirations after college?

There is a lot going on in Cincy the new casino opens in a month I guess you can bet on the Reds thatís just a joke or as my kids say lol. Did you know that Cincinnati was awarded the 2015 All Star game? The Chapman bobble head night you can get the Chapman 6 you pick the 5 games plus you get the bobble head night. College baseball has started my nephew won his first game I want to get to South Caroline to see him pitch this is his last year. All by the way my daughter had the baby 6 weeks early 6.9 lbs. Great to hear that you had a good time and the weather had to be descent. I need you to shop for me because I forget all the goodyís that you picked up. There is a Krogerís here in Pigeon Forge but they donít carry the popular items from Cincinnati.
It seems that memorials always make you think and choke you up the Vietnam memorial leaves my knees weak and my heart heavy. Makes me wonder why humans haft to hate so much; but like I have told so many love is harder to give then hate and when has hate ever paid off were love is like a growing organism. Always love the song the Boxer from Simon and Garfunkel specially the line a man hears what he want to hear and disregards the rest.
Storms were good here but not to bad. Itís good to hear that you got back home ok even if you might have cheated a little on the diet if so donít worry we all canít be diet saints.

I'm back!! Had a really nice time even though it was short-only in Cincy for one night and stayed with friends (who happen to be wonderful cooks) and night owls...every once in a while is OK, right?

So funny about the local foods, I brough back some Buskens cookies, Goldstar, Larosa's pizza sauce...won't be the same as their hoagys but it will be a nice reminder of home. Luckily I forgot to look for the Grippo's BBQ chips, they might not have made it home anyway :) Not to mention my fave, Grater's raspberry chocolate chip-TROUBLE!!! It was nice to go to Krogers, don't have those here and I miss them! And it was fun to see Reds gear everywhere!

Went to my stepson's graduation from Ohio State on Sunday, very proud! Flew back this morning. Too short for me but I have a step daughter graduating Ohio State in December so we'll make a longer trip of it. All in all a nice trip but it's good to be home.

I won't be running the Flying Pig this year, going to try for next year, it's in May right around Mother's Day. Good advice on the hills, I try to practice that here, as well. I'm running the National Memorial 1/2 here April 29th. Do you remember the Alfred P. Murrah Federal buliding bombing from back in 1995? It's a fundraiser for the memorial, which is breath taking and very moving and emotional. If you're ever in OKC, it's a must see.
www.oklahomacitynationalmemorial.org/

Still getting caught up but I'll be checking in this week-enjoy the beautiful weather!! Hopefully you were'nt affected by the recent tornados?!

Watch it when you go back because when I go home I have this thing about Skyline, Lazaro's; Frisch's, and Montgomery Inn on the river that makes me gain 5 or so ponds All here is a bit of advise about running Mt Adams hills what ever you do don't stop running to walk it because it makes it a lot harder. Are you planning to run this year I can't remember if it's spring or fall that they run marathon. All I can say is have a great time back home.I get to stressed out that's why we move to the Smokey's nature help with stress.

Yikes! That's quite a reunion with Eden Pak! Everything happens for a reason so the fact that you were there to help some one else was and answer to someone else's prayer.

I don't know that I could have run 5 miles and then trained for another 5 hours, even in my twenties! You must have been in great shape. Thank goodness you have your wife to keep you tuned up now! Funny that you had to get in shape AFTER you left the Navy-usually it's the opposite!
emoticon

My goal is to come back home to run the Flying Pig but there are no hills that compare to Mt. Adams here in OKC so I've got my work cut out for me. We run "hills" here. I had to laugh once I realized that actually meant the overpass which, in my world, is a slight grade compared to what I'm used to :). I'll be back in Cincy this weekend, hopefully can make time to hit the trails at Lunken. That was one of my favorite activities before I left, and my Dad would always join me. Miss those days but hopefully he'll be up for it again this weekend-still going strong at 70.

I'm sure you're very busy between the girls, family and grandsons! They'll keep you hopping if they're close by. Sounds like you have a maintain a very active lifestyle-that's what keeps the spirits up and the lbs down!

The boys I referred to were neighborhood friends not my sons I raised 3 girls but now I have 4 grandsons. I knew a sells manager who worked for Marge Schotts dealership and he said she was a great person but if you worked for her she was real hard core. You got to fill for the one who pooped scooped for her dog. I always like her she had a pure heart when it came to baseball.
I box at the Emanuel Center on Race street Aryan Pryor was there but I started their after I got out of the Navy mainly to get in shape. I spared with the light heavy weights and heavy weight. I worked my regular job 8 hrs. then straight to the gym. We started the training by running 5 miles in Eden Park Up hills in Mt. Adams then they drove us back to the gym were we put in 5 hrs. every night and I got in the best shape of my life. I had Fights set up but I meet my wife and gave it up but I have been sparring with her ever since.
Years later my wife wanted to walk were I use to train so we went to Eden Park she never asked to do that again. It did give me the opportunity to stop a rape and he got 10 years. Maybe thatís why she didnít want to go back.

Guilty as charged! I'll talk as long as anyone will listen :) I enjoy good conversation!

I married a Cheesehead! Def better than a Yankee fan, any day. I've been to Wrigley-loved it. I would love to go on one of those stadium trips! Met a father and son a few years back when I still lived back in Cincy that were doing that-what a great experience, I think his son was 11 or 12. Flew from CA to the east coast and drove back over a few weeks visiting stadiums all the way back home. I've made it to a few, Indians, Yankee Stadium (tour only but got my name up on the board), Rockies, Wrigley, Miller Park, some minor league parks...I was outside of the Rangers park while I was at the Dallas Cowboys game a year ago but couldn't get tix-it was the playoffs for them. I gotta say, that whole city was fired up for the Rangers. It was fun to see how excited the fans were!

You ARE surrounded by baseball! I think it's great how all of us from Cincy have a personal connection to the game, mainly because of personal interaction with the players. I wish we had more of that these days. Sabo! He was always out and about. I remember saying hello to Marge everytime she passed by my seat on the way down to hers. She'd put out her cig at the top of the stairs, make her way down and had a line of fans visiting her the whole game, every game. She did a lot for the game, heck, the city-still does with her scholarships and support for the zoo.

It must have been so exciting watching your sons make the bigs! I remember Sean Casey taking the hit to the face so I can only imagine what your son experienced-ouch! to say the least. Did you box for Buddy or Golden Gloves? Or just for fun? Another great history in our city that kinda goes under the radar. Still got the baby face, eh? That made me laugh!

Off to catch a little March Madness, have a great weekend!

Whatís up with your husband the Brewers? I guess thatís better than the Yankees. My nephewís team is good but theyíre not divisions 1 they are two. Most of the time they finish at the top and make the play offs. He is doing grate in school this is his senior year but he was red shirt last year due to shoulder injury. He is doing a double major so he will play next year to. South Carolina has won the college world series for past two years. We go watch them every now and then
.
Itís a shame they wonít put Joe in the hall of fame for his broadcasting at least for the saying this is the old lefthander rounding third and heading for home but being the youngest player in the major league puts him there. I got to eat breakfast with Joe, Marty. And half the team back when Sabo was on the team. They signed a bunch of balls for me but I gave them to the youth group I was working and had one left but I was painting a house and looked in the window at the twelve year old boys ball in the glass case so I asked his dad whoís ball it was and he said no signatures on it. Next day I gave my last ball to the boy he was a lot more thrilled than me.

Never seen Pete Jr. play but felt bad for him because he had big shoes to fill. I met Pete Sr. first wife Carolina she as not real bright She needed help driving a Ford Pantera she thought something was wrong with it but she didnít know she had to shift it wow. Baseball has always be a big part of my life we had 3 kids go to the pros Houston, Expos, and Rangers. Next store neighbor played triple a for the Rangers, the other to played for the big show but Bo who played for the Astros only lasted three years because he got hit in the face with a line drive down to triple a and never returned. On the other hand I boxed downtown playing catcher using my face. I am still pretty.

If you get a chance go to Wriggly Field we did and it was a great time we got to see the Reds play two game with free tickets thanks to my brother in law he worked for a car dealership. They have a deal that you can go on and you get to see something like 12 stadiums and games in 7 days. The future I hope.

By the way I am a talker and it sounds like you are to but my typing isnít as fast as my mouth have a great day.

Wow! That's a great deal for watching the games! There's always WGN for watching when they play the Cubbies, and here in OKC, there is a very loyal Cardinal following, so we see a lot of those. We actually live in the middle of 3 markets, the Rangers, KC and the Cards so we see a lot of baseball. And my hubby is a big Brewer fan, hails from WI so we have a lot of in-house rivalry emoticon

I'll have to keep an eye out for your nephew-do they have a decent team? I've gone to the Oklahoma Sooners games, good team, nice park, great rivalry with TX too, which is always fun. They draw a good crowd and I truthfully enjoyed watching them more than our AAA team. We have the women's softball tournament here every year too, which is a HUGE draw and lots of fun to watch. They sure have a lot more stamina than the pros, and they play mutilple positions-love that. If there was one thing I could change, that would be it. But I guess I should get off my soapbox, huh?! :)

And one of my favorite pastimes was a Sunday afternoon cookout listening to Marty and Joe on the radio. I still like to do that since we can pick up the local broadcast on Sirius radio. I love listening to Cowboy-he's pretty entertaining!

I got to meet Pete in Vegas a few years back, he signs bballs and jerseys (that you can conveniently buy at the store he happens to be in front of)-got some nice pics. Lived on the West side for a while so I was surrounded by early Pete Rose love :). Did you ever see Pete Jr. play in Chatanooga? He got himself into trouble a few times down there. Sr. ex-wife bought us all tickets to Jrs first game played at Riverfront-that was pretty cool.

I've sure got a lot to say-jeez-time for me to zip it but thanks for humoring me-it's fun to chat with other fans. And your wife has the right idea, parade, game dinner-that's what I did too!

We pay $5.00 a month for Fox Cincinnati through AT&T and we get to see the same games as the people in Cincinnati. I love that we can do that it makes summer more enjoyable. We still get to see about 4 or 5 games when we visit.

I go to watch my nephew pitch at University of South Carolina Akin but the best time is sitting and listening to the old men riding the umpire, great stuff. My wife and her sister get into baseball more than I do they use to make a day of it on opening day taking in the parade an game in then out to eat.

I have a ton of stuff that Pete Rose signed for me but I need him to be put in the hall of fame. Not that I would sell it but sometimes it nice to know you have something worth a few bucks..

You write good so don't take off for my spelling and grammar I was a jock in school.

LOL!! As a wife, yes I do know emoticon

I knew they had changed to an LA affiliate a few years back, I was hoping they had changed back-bummer! I never put much thought into it while I was there, but they draw a big crowd from ATL. That surprised me but it's pretty close so makes for a nice weekend getaway with the aquarium and they have plenty to do downtown. Not to mention all the Civil War sites. Always had a great time there. I'd love to check out the Wahoos!

I agree on the food and beer prices, it gets expensive quick! Major league is more fun but the minors are def more affordable. Mandaly (same promoters as Dayton Dragons) has taken over promotions for our local AAA affiliate (Houston) so the entertainment has improved and they have a super nice park here so it fills the void, somewhat.

It's hard for folks here to appreciate Opening Day-nothing like it anywhere else in the country. I've been listening to the Spring Training games on MLB-very affordable at $20 for the whole year and it sure makes the work day more interesting! And I get to hear Marty :).

My mistake the LA team plays at Chattanooga and the Reds play at Pensacola they are called Blue Wahoos. Weird names on the minor league teams. I love going to the major league games but the cost for a beer, hotdog, and pretzel is 5x what I pay to get in. Watching the TN. Smokes is a lot of fun but after living in Cincinnati my whole life it just isn't as exciting but you can have a drink and eat cheaper. I love lessening to the game on the radio more then going to the game but my wife loves going to the game so you know how that turns out.

I've been to Chatanooga plenty of times, before and after they built the new stadium there. We used to go to the old stadium before the games and pick up all the Southern League balls that were hit out of the park and have the players sign them. Miss the old place but I'm glad to see Chatanooga is back to a Red's AA team.

I live in Oklahoma City now, big statue of Johnny Bench out front of our AAA stadium so it feels a little like home emoticon

Well I moved to Knoxville and now I only get to see the Reds about 2 times a year. I do go watch the Tennessee Smokes Chicago's farm club and this year I want to go when they play the Chattanooga double A Reds team. I use to go to watch the reds as a kid at Crossly Field and was a freshmen when Riverfront opened. I love the new stadium best though just wish the beer and hot dogs weren't so much
