Welcome Sue,

For the members that don't know me or don't remember me, my name is LoriAnne. Me and Jess started the team together a couple of years ago. I had lost 80 lbs and was trying to encourage others, well guess what I was the one who went back to the old ways. I gained all my weight back and some more.

I am like Sue about the soda's and I feel that I need to stop cold turkey from diets and all, so I make this promise I will log in everyday and be accountable for my sodas and diet. Fast food and is the same. We've ate out more than in, and that needs to stop. I've been married for the past 23 years to a wonderful man, and mother of two great sons. One was married last October and will be expecting first grand child on March 8th! Can't wait to find out what the little one is!!!! I want to stay on this where I can be healthy and be around for my family.

Thanks in advance for the welcome back! Time to start and put myself as a major priority in my life. I hope and pray that I get started and we all continue on this journey together.

emoticon Sue!!! I'm so glad that you have joined our team!! I did the exact same thing you did. I quit drinking soda all together and I had terrible headaches. But you know, I have not had a craving for soda since I quit!! I'm very thankful!! If there is anything that I can help you with, please let me know!!

Hi Everyone,

I'm Sue from Florida. Married for 29 years, have four almost grown children, and two little doggies.

I've just started my weight loss journey (for the hundredth time) and ready to stick to it (this time). Working with an exercise physiologist and dietitian to work out a plan suited for me.

Stopped drinking soda, cold turkey as they say. I was drinking way too much and tried to slowly wean myself off but sips led to full glasses and I didn't like the playing around with something I knew was bad for me. Figuring headaches were probably going to be harsh, I prayed and had NO headaches! Thankful for that and glad to be done with that "addiction".

Our family has had a bad habit of eating fast food junk for years and years. It's literally a miracle we haven't died from the junk we have filled our bodies with. Mostly it's been burgers and fries. Sometimes it was fries and burgers. lol! Ugh! We decided to stop that too and we haven't eaten out since Sunday. I know that's only four days but that's a huge deal for us! Seriously, it was bad. emoticon

I was down to 263 (as my ticker shows) but I had gained some weight when my can do was only a want to and I'm back up (as of Sunday) to 269.

Trying to clean up my diet and cooking methods currently. I have a hard time with vegetables. I like eating them but have a hard time cooking and seasoning them.

Working it all out.

Good evening everyone
My name is Sharon and I live in Clarksville Arkansas with my husband of 17 years and my 13 year old son who will be in 8 th grade this year.

I have a lot of health issues and most recently the back. There is a possibility of back surgery if I can't find any other type of treatment.

Hi All! I go by Ange...and I have been on Sparkpeople before. I lost 70 lbs. then, and even completed my goal of competing in and running a half marathon :).......but that was over 4 years ago. Since then, I have been laid off, gotten separated from my husband, had my first online romance that ended badly. I spent 8 months in the worst job I have ever had (Metlife Home Loans) and I have moved 3 times in the last 3 years.

Needless to say, I stopped going to gym and started eating to comfort myself. I got lazy and stressed and I gained back 40 lbs. And now I am scared. I don't want to gain it all back. I don't want to be where I was and how I felt 6 years ago when I started this crazy weight loss journey.

The last time I weighed myself (Wednesday 7/17) I was 210. I KNOW what I need to do, its just putting it in to motion that I am having problems with. I think sometimes that I may have a problem with alcohol since every night I would have 2 drinks, no matter what, and I looked forward to them so one of my goals is to avoid alcohol Sunday thru Thursday ....

Good news is, that I have (as of Wednesday 7/17/13) gone back to the gym in the mornings on a daily basis. And I am now tracking my exercise and food daily.

So, I need your motivation and I am here to give any motivation I can

Tai Chi is a martial arts form that doesn't require impact. It's gentile movement to increase stamina, muscle tone, and grace..I'm such a klutz that I'm really excited about increasing my grace even more than decreasing my ass.

You sound fantastic! Curves is wonderful..I did it before and I'm sure it would have been more beneficial if I'd remember to go.

Is it ironic that putting together a lounge chair today was exercise for me?

Hey, buddy LIG! Hope your cleaning is going well (my house needs it too--but it'll have to wait until tomorrow). What is Tai Chi? It sounds like Shih Tsu! emoticon Hee, hee. No, seriously, is it something like yoga? I did my first workout at Curves today. Didn't think I'd be able to do it because I'm so out of shape, but I kept at it & finished. YAY! Hi, Crimson. Just thought I'd mention that weighing in every day may be frustrating. There are so many variables, especially for women, that factor in to a daily weight. Stuff like holding water or lack of regularity might even make it look like you've gained a pound when it's in fact not fat weight. I think the recommendation is a weekly weigh in at the same day/time first thing in your morning. Anyway, I just wanted to mention so you don't get disappointed along the way! emoticon

You're quite right, Laura. Those flat faces don't like heat and humidity. They get a pass on the walking but we don't. Today's my fist day off for the week and I've had so many deliveries while working. My workout gets to be cleaning and lots of trash removal, but I'll also make time for my Tai Chi.

Day one - I weighed exactly the same as I did yesterday. No weight loss is OK with me because that means no weight gain! I am going out later today to get a new pedometer, as our 8 month old puppy thought my old pedometer was a chew toy! My steps logged won't be accurate for today, but it's progress. I have planned my meals for the day. Now I need to figure out what type of cardio I want to do (and I need to find the motivation to do it). Have a great day everybody!

Thanks for the well-wishes, Marj & Company! No Marj, I didn't mean to leave this group & join the other one exclusively--I need all the encouragement I can get, & this group seems to be very supportive of one another. I appreciate positive & supportive people!

Thanks, Letting-It-Go. I did take my pups for a walk today, & I don't think my pugs are very fitness oriented. Half way through my 20 minute walk, their tongues WERE lolling & they were panting so hard I had to stop & give them a break. They aren't real fat like most pugs, so I think it was the humidity that was hard on them today. Note to self: do not walk dogs on humid days! Their little pushed in noses just don't do the job in the humidity (poor babies!).

I see you just started, too, LIG, so we can be buddies on the journey. Thanks for the welcome. Right back at you! emoticon

Hi everybody! My name is Kim and I am 53 years old. I have been very fit and active my whole life. However, over the last year, I have really started feeling old! I had a back injury 8 years ago. After subsequent injuries and 3 steroid injections, I finally had to have surgery a year ago. Those 8 years had me on a roller coaster ride. Healing and weight loss then re-injury and weight gain. I am at a point where I am feeling good and ready to lose the weight permanently. I know I need to strengthen my core muscles to benefit my back and disks. So...my journey begins. I truly believe that a mutual support system is very important! Any and all help is appreciated! And I am here to encourage others as well!

I'm Alura, I am hoping and needing to drop at least 50 lbs...with in the next year I hope but definitely want to lose at least 10-15 by Sept when I go to my eldest kids graduation...

Hi, everyone! I'm Laura & just joined up yesterday, so I'm all giddy & excited to start (but don't worry--after the first week I'm sure the whining will commence)!

I am married to my wonderful husband, Randy, and together we have 4 adorable furry children (pugs)--3 purebred & 1 mixed breed. You can get a glimpse of our little boy on my spark page. That's Gabe. I tell people he's my main squeeze. Most people think I squeezed too hard! Buggy eyes aside, they are all a joy to have around.

I'm currently self-employed & run a small home-based business, which many times keeps me from my fitness goals. Therefore, I've made a new mandatory 1 hour lunch rule (I can do that since I'm my own boss). That way I'll get in a healthy dose of exercise & eat right instead of wasting time bolted to my computer chair munching cheesy puffs.

Now I'm off to rub shoulders with the "100 Pounds or More to Lose" group, a group that I categorically, humbly, & 100% "so THERE" need to join. Oh, I'm not snubbing you guys, no. Absolutely not. Marj encouraged me to join & I naturally like people who encourage. emoticon

Hello everyone and thank you Marj for the invitation to join this group! This is my first time using a site like this and I'm excited about it!

A little about me: I'm 35, married with one beautiful two year old daughter. I work an office job with really long hours and I'm pretty sedentary as a result. Once upon a time I was an avid, though pretty slow, runner, and was very focused on staying healthy. The last couple years, not so much! I'm ready to start moving in the right direction now and I need to learn how to meal plan, cook healthy dishes for my family, and eat right! I also want to get more active, starting with walks with my dog around the neighborhood.

I would love to be supportive to whomever I can, and I wish everyone good luck on their journeys!

I'm so happy to see the activity that's here on Sparkpeople. Most sites for weight loss I've found are ghosts of what they used to be.

As for me, I'm 45, currently living in South Jersey and I'm only partially employed. I work in the music industry, which means it's a lifestyle more than a job. My hours are quite unpredictable but I'm hoping to find some structure to help me with my weight loss program. Other than that, I'm working on my Master's Thesis and hope to have it finished by year's end.

emoticon I want to thank you for the invitation to join your team! I am 54, soon to be 55, and just getting started. I love the tracking system to keep me honest and conscious of what I am putting in my mouth and how much exercise I am getting. I live in a small town very near the Canadian border in MT. It's hot and dry in the summer and bitter cold and windy in the winter! I have 2 little dogs who need to learn to walk on a leash so they can join me for walks. I put as one of my new year's resolutions to learn (re-learn) how to hula hoop. I bought the kiddie kind at WalMart and just couldn't get it. Found out why on the recent video blog. I am going to get the irrigation tubing and make one sized just for me when I travel to one of our bigger MT towns tomorrow. I can't believe I found help and inspiration for learning how to hula hoop. What an unexpected joy!! I dropped almost 5 lbs. at my first weigh in so am looking forward to seeing what today has to show. Have really enjoyed learning how to use the trackers and reading other people's blogs and all the great articles and videos. Just trying to take it one day at a time and working on down-sizing and organizing my home. I want to simplify my life and get healthier in every way. Looking forward to being on this journey with you.

The best cure for stressing is to count your blessings...and a long walk won't hurt either!

Never give up what you want the MOST for what you want at the MOMENT!

Welcome Karen, or should I say Mrs Arbour. I think its great you love using your married name. I still remember practicing signing my married name just before I got married and loved to sign it when ever I got the chance after being married.

My name is Karen and I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I have joined Sparks with two friends. We hope to encourage one another and others and be encouraged as well. I am married for 21 months so I love using my married name, I know it's geeky but what can I say. I have a few roadblocks to being very physical but I hope to do what I can do on a consistent basis and to learn to eat on a regular basis.

Hi everyone, my name is Bec. Whisperingpine9 sent me a message and invited me over to check out the group so I thought I would take up the offer.

So here i am, sitting at my husbands desk in cloudy Culcairn, Australia. It has been cold the last couple of days so I'm up for all the motivation I can get.

I am a mum of 3 kids and in 8 and a bit weeks I will have been married for half my life.

Slow and steady would be a good motto for me. I have lost 13kg so far and thought the extra support and advice would be handy, rather than doing it alone.

Susan here... I'm 61 and maintaining my 70-lb. weight loss for 2+ years so far. I track everything I eat for 28 days and then go nuts on the other two, usually snarfing up everything I can at an all-you-can-stuff-yourself-with buffet.

I guess you could call me a "recreational eater," and there's some controversy, I know, about "cheat days," but it's a strategy I find pretty comfortable and workable.

I have 97 lbs to lose and could use some support along the way. Since reaching my 50's it's been a real challenge to get any weight off. But I know with hard work and determination, I will lose all I need to lose to get back the body I know I have under all this fat.

Hi! My name is Linda and I just joined today! I am a 40 year old mother of 3. I am recently divorced and now live in Northfield, NJ. I am a Real Estate agent and a nurse. I love to take pictures and am a lil bit of an amateur photographer. I have taken tons of children's photos, some neat pet portraits and even a few weddings! I love to read, am a total vampire book junkie and use to enjoy walking and biking everyday. I have gotten off track over the last year and am struggling to get back! I had lost 30 lbs over a year ago and now I have gained it all back plus some. My goal is to drop 80 lbs, but my first goal is just to get back to exercising!
