Was the chicken fresh or frozen. If fresh I am baffled, but if frozen did you put it in frozen or thawed. Frozen frequently does respond well in crockpot. (Yes, I have done it and survived, but...). In either case age of chicken can affect the out come. Frozen chicken thawed even will some times come out tough even in regular meals. Sorry you have had bad luck. To check crockpot try a simple veggie soup.

But why wouldn't the liquid keep it juicy? How on the world does it dry out in liquid?

Low 8 hrs per the instructions...do I just have a crappy crock? It's brand new and it really bums me out. I'm afraid of wasting more groceries/money. I had to throw that pineapple chicken away. I tried to soldier through it but my stomach was revolting.

It said to fill it up. So it was completely full.

About how full was your crock? It needed to be about 1/2 to 3/4 full. Bone in breasts seem to do better for me than boneless. I also cook it to the low end of hours

Hello, I'm so excited this group is here!

I just recently got my first crock pot last week. I happily tried two recipes that involved chicken. One was chicken stew and the other was a pineapple chicken recipe. I followed the instructions to a T but when I tasted the chicken from both meals, I was HORRIFIED and puzzled. How could liquid cooked chicken be THIS dry? Yuck it turned to saw dust in my mouth. I'm so repulsed and pissed that i invested in these groceries and these recipes and it didn't pay off. Any suggestions here.
i have Hamilton 4 quart crock pot.
