Hello. I'm fairly new too and never was a breakfast person until I started with SP. Now, I make sure to have a high-protein breakfast and then track using the nutrition tracker. I feel full all day and haven't gone over my calories in a day, which seems impossible! I tell everyone I'm eating like a pig, but so far I've lost 13 pounds. Portion control is key, but so is realizing what healthy choices can do nutrition-wise. Check out the articles, blogs, etc. And I highly recommend the book.
If I can do this, you most definitely can do it too!
Don't bunt. Aim out of the ballpark.
I think you can pick up some pretty good kitchen scales for reasonable cash. That might help you in learning portion sizes if you are working from a meal plan that lists weights instead of the number of crackers for your meal/snack. Some of the more fancy ones, also have food counts built right in.
Also check out the articles here on spark about portion control and portion distortion, etc.
I wish you much success on your journey.

Hi, my name is Debbie and I have never been on a diet before. I weigh 170 and wanting to be 130. Ate my first breakfast and I am starving...lol. Now I'm going to walk. I hope I get lots of support on this. My main concern is measuring my foods. I'm not sure how to do that. as in how many crackers is 0.75 oz. Thank to everyone for your support.
