Its nice to hear from you. Welcome to the group. My name is Deni and I have had Lupus for about 1.5 years now. Methatrexate also and had a very bad time with it. I know how bad it can be for some of us. The drug worked wonders for my hands, they where normal again. I have RA in my hands from the lupus. Hands where normal but got cellulittis from the drug. Now we need to find another drug. Sorry I rambled on. Welcome and I'm glad you are feeling better. So glad to have you here. We all seem to check in with one another on the weekly check in. Hope to see you there.
Hi Everyone, My name is Lauretta, I have been with Spark now for about 5 months, I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2004,The first couple years were really rough, but I have been able to get over the worst and I am only having to take Plaquinil now which I am thankful for I was on Methatrexate as well and really had a hard time with it. I have been taking a Vitamin D supplement to help the extreme Fatigue. It has helped and feel I have a bit more energy than I did before.Since I have been with spark and making sure I eat healthy and get some exercise in everyday has helped a great deal as well. I have lost 16 pounds since I have been here and that is a breakthrough on its own for me. Before I would lose 5 gain 10. but I have lost 16 and not gained any back in 5 months since I have been here.
I love the tools, the resources and all the wonderful people I have met here. Yes I have Lupus but I refuse to let it get me down anymore, I did at the beginning it was poor me my life is over, then one day I said forget that I am still alive and I am going to do what I can to live my life to fullest. Spark's wellness resources has helped a great deal and has given me the tools I needed to begin my lifestyle change to become healthier and Happier overall.

Hi and welcome We have a weekly 'check in forum' that goes from Sunday to Saturday. The current week is usually at the top as the 1st sticky topic. We each check in whenever we can, as little or as much as we are able. We talk about how our week is going, any questions, problems etc. There is always someone who can help/ be supportive.
You've been through a lot and you have great determination, a wonderful attitude and spirit. Welcome to the team! Cathy

Tell me more about the weekly check in!!! That seems like someting I would love to do. Well I want to tell u bout me. I am only 43 and I had a stroke at 41. I have gotten a lot of my impairment back, I stil have trouble with my right hand and leg and therefore I walk slow (guess marathons are out... LOL) anyway I was truly blessed. When it first happened I was jnable to feed or even wipe myself, so my hubby of only had been married one year when tis happened. I started off not being able to walk. I forced myself to keep going because that was how u rebuild muscle. I went to a walker, then a cane, then without. My doctors said that I made a good recovery. Anyway my Rheumy said that it is not uncommon for lupus patients with SLE to have stokes. I had a bad habit of blaming all ailments on the lupus, and there were probably things that I should have done. Anyway I go depressed after I was originally diagnosed with lupus at 25 yrs old that I got above 350 lbs. I lost 140lbs and was wearing a size 16W or 18, I had the stroke and have gained 80 lbs. I went through depression and then I was also impaired. Though I am not 100% by any means I have been using the Wii and it has really helped with my balance and walking. Well I went back to work, I cook, drive, etc and now I want to try to lose this 80lbs I gained.

If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit. So good to hear you have joined our team. I have been with the team now for about 5 mos. Its a great team and sure hope you like it as much. After letting the team know about my troubles I have always felt better when I get a response from someone. Even if it is only to let me know someone has heard me and they care. I don't mean for it to sound like its "only" that its a big deal.
Well glad your here and hope to hear from you soon.
Hello to all. My name is Sandra and I was diagnosed with Lupus in 1993. Since then I have had many other health issues to either add to it or to be a part of it. I'm not sure which sometimes. I have degenerative arthritis in my spine along with spinal stenosis. I have high blood pressure and high cholestrol. Mainly, I have an achy, breaky body most of the time. After reading a lot of your messages and blogs, I too can relate to comments of "You don't look sick." I am really glad that I found this Sparkteam to add to my page. I pray that we can all be encourager's for etch other.
