I joined up here because I too lose slowly. Seems like I have to work five times as hard as everyone else for a single pound. But this time... I AM NOT GIVING UP. Thanks to all here for support and friendship.

Welcome. Yes, losing weight is hard and it often takes a long time. Good to have support and this is a good place for it. Glad to see you here.

In GOD We Trust Choose To Lose "If you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired." -General George S Patton, U.S.Army, 1912 Olympian
When I saw the turtle on this team I had to join, check out my most recent blog and the picture on my spark page – these came before I found this team.
My doctor's latest comment in January when I brought up the difficulty I'd had in losing weight was, "With your family and medical history weight loss will be very difficult if not impossible." A SparkPeople dietitian told me last week that for me, "a 1/4 - 1/2 pound loss per week would be a reasonable expectation". No wonder the doctor said it would maybe be impossible, that means 5 years from now I can expect to have lost the 60 pounds I'm shooting for and I'm sure she expects me to give up before then. I'm just stubborn enough though that if someone tells me I can't do something I feel like now I HAVE to do it. I don't give up easily and am usually a pretty positive person. I'm limiting the number of Spark Teams I belong to because I check in regularly with all of them so I un-joined a less active one yesterday so I could come join all of you other turtles.
My name is Carolyn (Whitney is my last name, I'm a retired high school biology teacher = WHITNEYTEACHER)
I moved to Grants Pass, a small town in Southern Oregon in January, 2014.
