Temolo - your last sentence says it all. It is a matter of rethinking - your health and your life style, at the very least.
Find something that lets you live free (to some extent) while curbing your known excesses. And make sure to keep a note of what works - and what doesn't work.
I'm here, this year, because I intend to lose 1lb per week, each week, this year. I am still trying to get ready to start! But I am spreading the word, and so increasing my accountability - and that adds a whole new dimension.
Hopefully my flu and lack of activity will be gone soon, and I will then be able to really get started, and start a proper tracking.

Congratulations on re-joining. I did, too. I've tried to change my thinking about this. I'm not losing weight; I'm gaining health. Every pound or half-pound lost is energy gained, a reward to my heart and joints so they don't have to work so hard. It is definitely a long-term, permanent way of thinking and acting. The older I get, the harder old habits fight against extinction. But we can do this, one half-pound at a time.

I re-joined sparkpeople in Dec 2012 with the goal of losing 50 lbs. I have been tracking my food daily and doing at least 20-30mins of jogging 4-5 times a week. So far I lost about 7lbs, its going slow and can become discouraging, but I think I will stick with it. I might have to reevaluate my goals, maybe if I have the goal of losing 1/2 lb weekly instead of 1lb weekly I will be able to see result and remain motivated. I think I need to look at this as a new way of living and not some short-term thing.
