Christine, I know how you are feeling all to well.

I had been morbidly obese for quite some time.
I was told that my weight would kill me if it didn't come off.

I left the doctor's office in tears and went straight to the freezer section in the grocery store.
I bought three half gallon containers of full fat ice cream and a one pound bag of my favorite pretzels.
Then I stocked up on nuts, chips, pastries and anything else I wanted.

Went home and set about gaining even more weight.

I wasn't ready until I was ready.
Denial kept me obese for a longer period of time.

A year ago I WAS ready to face reality and did something about it.

The weight came off an ounce at a time.
It was a slow process.
Got my sedentary body to the gym and weight came off a little faster.

I haven't reached my goal weight but am confidant that I will.

I wish the same for you.

Jenae

I'm Christine, from Scotland, and I've been a member of this team for quite some time.

I make no excuses that I haven't really managed to lose much weight.
I'm not going to waste my time on 'should' or 'could'.
But I have been learning, during the years and the challenges. And I now have a much better realisation of what is wrong in my life, with respect to weight loss.
I am just coming out the other side of this learning process and have already posted elsewhere on this site that I am now focussed on losing an average of 1 lb per week, for the next while.
My next step will be to change that to losing a minimum of 1 lb per week, once the route is established.

Did the same thing for years!
Finally decided to just trust the process.
It took a while for my body to adjust and begin letting go from the weight.

I can completely relate. Was on WW many time with great success but last time, about a year ago, I actually gained 8 lbs. When I realized my usually weight loss program was no longer working I knew I had to find something else. I joined SP in Nov. 2011 and have gained a lot of personal insight about my weight issues, but have not lost more than 5 lbs in all this time. Frustrated, YES! Defeated, NO! Giving up will never get me anywhere, so I continue to look for what works and love the support I get from my fellow Sparkers.

Welcome to the team. emoticon

Hi Val,

Welcome to the team. This is a great group and hopefully you will find the support you need. You sound like a real winner with that super attitude. The trackers on SP can help you watch what you eat, maybe correspondence with some of us will help you get a handle on any emotional issues. Best wishes on your journey.

I am the more like the standing still Looser! I am ready to do what it takes and ready not to give up. I'm Val and I have been on SP for a while. I feel like I have always been on a weight loss journey but the fact is I just haven't moved down on the scale for the past 5 years- I have a 6 year old daughter. I have done weight watchers for year long periods of time and gain and loose the same 5 lbs. I am 50 lbs over weight and active at the gym- but I need to concur my food demons to make a change. I am just so over looking and feeling defeated.

True courage takes place when you think you cant try one more time....and you do it anyway.
