Welcome to the team, Ramona. This is a very friendly and supportive group and I hope you find a lot of help here on your new journey. I am 66 years old and joined just a couple months ago when my daughter told me about it. My weight lost is slow and seems to be dragging again. But I just keep on tracking my exercise and calories and I have noticed that even when the scale doesn't move my clothes start to get looser. I tell myself I'm building muscle - it weighs more but takes up less space. Best wishes to you - and keep on Sparking!

Hi Ramona and welcome to the group! We are a very active group in more ways than one! And we are all here for each other! My best piece of advice I can give you, to begin with anyway, is to track your exercise and especially your nutrition every day like it is your job! :) It is a proven fact that people who do that lose twice as much weight as those who don't. It's all about accountability! It really does work and slow and steady not only wins the race, it makes all of this a way of life, a healthy lifestyle. After all, that's what we 61 year-olds are really striving for at this point in our lives! Feel free to ask questions!

I had pain in my knee that went away with my weight loss, hopefully when I lose the rest,the pain in my hip will go away too.!

Hi all,

My name is Ramona. I have lived in New Orleans most of my 61 years. I've finally decided it's time to stop making excuses and get started with losing weight and exercising.

But...I want to do it the right way so I'll keep it off this time. I've lost a lot of weight at different times in the past, but put it (plus a lot more) right back on. No more of that for me.

My daughter is the only one I've told about this new road I'm on. I want everyone else to just see the results for themselves. In the past, I would tell everyone that I was going to lose weight, and then be embarrassed when it didn't happen, or I gained it back. I only told my daughter because I was hoping she would also join SparkPeople. Hopefully, she'll see how well I'm doing and want to join later.

I have AFIB and Fibromyalgia. My pain management doctor said the best thing is to exercise and lose weight...then I should be able to get off the medication I'm taking for Fibromyalgia. So, that's just an added bonus.

This looks like a very active group, and I'll try to be active in my posts as well as my exercise and food reduction.
