Hi and welcome back!

Just take one healthy step at a time, like getting your 8 glasses of water daily. When you're comfortable with that add another healthy step. The point is not to overwhelm yourself. We all have setbacks. Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, then move on.

You CAN do this!

Hi....Hang in there as others have said to you....
Something eventually starts to click into place and you start seeing results.....

The secret is not to quit......

Also...try setting yourself some small goals to take your focus away from the overall amount you have to loose and to help in your being overwhelmed with the whole picture....
Maybe setting small goals of 10lbs in a time frame and doing what you need to do to achieve that will give you sccess and diminish the overall picture....

Just a thought....

Hi Mumuk! I've been here off and on for about 6 years and haven't got it right yet. Just this week I think I found the way of eating, the "diet" if you will, that is going to finally help me get rid of all this excess weight. I revamped my Sparkpage and I'm starting small this time. Instead of going gangbusters at the gym, I'm sticking to 1/2 hour a day. I'm going to stay there until I feel like doing more that won't tire me out. I started this time on vacation, and tomorrow I have to go back to work and it is very stressful, so it will be a challenge to keep up. I'm only going to weigh once a week, on Saturdays and forget the scale the rest of the time. I want to concentrate on lean protein, vegetables, skim or low fat dairy and fruit.
Never give up! don't think of the amount to lose, just think of today, what can I do now to have a healthy lifestyle................... emoticon
We will do this.........

Try to look at other ways to measure success besides the scale.

How do your clothes fit?
Do you measure yourself? If not, do it today & again in a month.
Can you walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded?
Do you exercise more than you did before starting?
Are you making better food choices?
Do you keep track of what you eat?
Are your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, triglycerides, blood glucose (or other health measurements - depending on your situation) better than before?

All those are measurements of success, even if the number on the scale doesn't move as quickly as you want it to.

Take it a day at a time - and don't weigh yourself more often than once a week. Concentrate on getting healthier and use sparkpeople's nutrition tracker - it's easy to find the calorie count of everything using that.

Thanks for the encouragement :) - I suppose I get so dishearterned as I throw myself into it, lose a few lbs, slip back again and gain back twice as much - gggrrrr!!! I KNOW it has to be a lifestyle change, and I could probably tell you the calories in most things, but it just seems SO hard sometimes to lose even 1 lb.....I am determined tho that this time, no matter what, I will keep going, and if I fall down, will just pick myself up and brush myself off emoticon

Hang in there! Just keep counting those calories and take it a day at a time. I had 150 lbs. to lose when I started and didn't plan on going this slow..... But I've lost 50 lbs. so far and it hasn't been hard at all. SP has helped me when nothing else could. I may be losing slowly - but I am losing and have decided this is my new 'lifestyle.' I've never felt more in control of myself before. It's a great feeling and I know I'll be able to lose the other 100 lbs. It may take me 2 years - but I'll get there - I'm sure of it now.

Hi...I've been a member of SP for over a year now and keep starting and stopping, logging on and logging off...so many times I've lost count. I have almost 100lbs to lose and sometimes just feel overwhelmed by the enormity of how much I need to do to get there :( :( - I've joined this group in the hope of getting some support from people who I'm hoping are or have been in the same boat as me.....I keep telling myself THIS is the year that I start losing....slow and steady wins the race.... emoticon
