wellcome to the new members!
Courage isn't always a lions roar. It is sometimes the heart, at the end of the day saying...."I will try again tomorrow"
Hello! I'm new as well! I joined in January but didn't realize this site could help me. I started in January and I've lost 36 pounds but my turtle below won't move - I don't know why he won't move and I am assuming it's a "him" but I'm sure I'll eventually figure out how to move him!
I've been dieting since January with my husband and we have been mostly staying on track - hardest part is dining out and dining with others - I have to work on that a bit.
What I HAVE been doing:
* I've been reading a book called "Made To Crave" by Lisa "?" and it addresses the spiritual component of eating like I have never read before - each chapter to me is like a devotional!
* Tracking calories daily
I'll add more goals as I move along. Nice to meet you! Good luck and God bless on your journey.
Hi and welcome to the team
Smile .... it makes people wonder what you're up to ;-)
The fourth glass of wine is always a good idea before you do it and a really bad idea afterward! ;-)
It is far easier to MAKE time to exercise than it is to FIND time to exercise. You want results???? MAKE it happen.

GODPLEASER and KATE!!! You both sound like you've taken the biggest and most important step. That is realizing that this requires a lifestyle change and that to avoid the yo-yo that so many of us have experienced, we need to master one small step at a time and make them changes for LIFE. Even after reaching goal weight and then another goal weight, I still learn something new every day about how to live healthier and make this stick for the rest of my life. I look forward to sharing this journey with you both! It's the best thing I've ever done for myself and I'm betting you'll be saying the same thing soon! If there is anything I can do to help you on your journeys, please feel free to ask!

Nice to meet you. I just started w/Spark also. I am also like you in that I've tried the quick diets and they do not work. I have a brand new knee to protect and so being healthy at age 65 is most important to me. Want to keep up with those grandsons. I would like to lose 40 pounds. Seems like a giant mountain when I say it like that! Maybe I'll see if I can take it 10 at a time. This appears to be a great place to stay encouraged and also to encourage others. So, with that, I wish you the best on your journey. I'll think of you when I am tempted to eat something in the evenings. That is my dangerous time. Maybe I can kick that crazy habit. Best wishes! You can write back if you are interested....maybe we can help each other!
Hi everyone. I have only been on SparkPeople for about a week and I love all the resources that are enabling me to get healthy and reach my lifestyle goals. I joined this team because I don't really believe in all the "quick-fix" diets and exercise "fads" that promise too much and deliver too little. The trust you place in any diet has to become trust in your own diet, and exercise regimen, that only you have control over . Only you can change you. That would be one of my most common sayings in life. This is why I've decided to become proactive with my health. Hence, the reason for joining SparkPeople. Why not sooner? Well, only because I didn't know about Spark until a friend introduced me to it. I joined this team because I sincerely need the accountability factor to keep my motivation up. I want to have the energy of the younger generation. I want to reach my ideal weight. I am sick and tired of being too sick and tired to do anything besides soak up TV time. I have tried going it alone for a decade now with slim to no results. I gain and lose, gain and lose, to no avail but lots of frustration. I joined a gym and spent probably thousands of dollars which was an exercise in futility and a drain on the pocketbook. Enough of that! Now, I have decided to incorporate all the things I am learning here into my daily life. I have made it my long term goal to lose 50 pounds in one year. I am making small steps to small goals towards that final ideal that I have made for myself. I wish everyone here all the best in their journey to a fit lifestyle, as well. Wish me luck. :)
