Well, I'm back for the first time since 2012. I am looking for a woman I used to follow on here and I'm pretty sure she was on this team. I can see her face and I wish I could remember her screen name. She had mobility issues and had lost over 100 pounds last I knew. She would use an arm bicycle. I know this is pretty vague, but, maybe someone will remember. Any suggestions as to who she may be is great appreciated emoticon

Hubby and I are working to lose 60 lbs over the next year. He has a severely damaged heart and is on a very low calorie/ low sodium plan and I'm doing the same plan with him. Since Sept. 13th, he's down 23 lbs and I'm down 13 lbs.

Hey there. IDK if i ever introduced myself on here. I've been away from SP for... I don't even know. A long time.
I have watched my weight creep up over the past few years. I am officially at my highest high.
:(
I really need people who I can chat with and relate to who don't judge me.
I'm a yoga, hoop and belly dance teacher. My life goal is to motivate people (especially women) to live the life they want now at this size, in this body.
But that doesn't mean that I don't want to get my health in order before it's too late!

New to the group but been on SP a while now. I'm 36, sahm that homeschools my youngest and apparently slow at weight loss. Hormones caused my weight gain, I've been off them a few yrs now but the weight stayed.
I got serious about weight loss starting mid Aug. I even started boxing beginning of Sept. I'm averaging a 5" & 2.5 lbs loss a month. I get frustrated sometimes because I feel I should be losing as much as many others, 1-2 lbs a week. I have a decent diet & exercise 30-50 mins a day.

REJOINING, OLD MEMBER...

Hi, I'm Vicki and I'm 58 years old. Salt has always been hard for me to cut back on but due to my husbands severely damaged heart he has to cut back to no more than 2000 grams a day and 1200 calories a day. So I'm following the same plan he's doing to make it easier on both of us. Right now our goals are to eat in a much healthier fashion and to lose 60 lbs over the next 12 months.

Hi, I'm Kris. I joined the team a while ago but don't think I ever introduced myself. I'm 45 (nearly 46) and married to a wonderful man. We have a great life and love riding the Harley, hanging out with family and playing with our many pets (1 cat, 2 Russian tortoises, 2 Ball Pythons).

I've been on this journey for a long time and I keep losing and re-gaining the same 40lbs. I want it gone! I am working on a new program where I can make lasting changes to live the healthiest life possible.

Recently I decided to take control of what we eat by making a grocery list and doing the meal planning. It has worked out really well. I've made 90% of our meals at home for the past 2 weeks and all have been healthy, low calorie, low fat type recipes. Many of them from SP. It's amazing how much different I feel just in two weeks of not eating out. I don't feel sluggish or bloated. And I definitely don't miss any of the junk. Even when we'd go out to eat, I'd try to get the healthiest option---but shockingly---those options aren't all that healthy. All the chemicals, preservatives, grease, and ick were just slowing me down. I'm sleeping better and waking up without an alarm. I don't feel as tired in the morning as I used to. What a huge change!!!

Anyway, I'm a believer that a slow approach helps those new habits really sink in. I'm happy to be on the team!!!

Hi everyone. My name is Diane and I am an extremely slow loser. I lose about 1/2 -1 lb a month. I have tried so many plans to get this monster under control. I joined SP in February. I was doing well with the changes that I made and then my health issued flared up. I am currently recuperating and trying to get some things in place so that I can continue my journey. Because I am a very slow loser, it just discourages me so much especially when I see others in my threads losing 2-3 pounds per week compared to my 1/4-1/2 lb per week. I seem to gain weight so fast and it takes me forever to lose it.

I look forward to chatting with you and your successes. I am a person who loves to encourage and inspire others and I look forward to being on this team for support and encouragement.

Hi, I recently joined Spark and this team. I'm 29. My SO works out of town all week and I take care of his son and our son at home. It gets a little stressful at times. At the beginning of the year, as my son turned three, I realized that I gained 60 pounds since he was born! That's a lot of weight. I am hoping to take the weight off a little faster than I gained it, but I know that slow and steady always wins the race. emoticon

HI I JOIN SP IN 2007 BUT RECENTLY STARTED BACK GETTING MORE INVOLVED. I JUST JOIN TORTOISE UNITE TODAY. I USUALLY HAVE A HABIT OF LOSING AND GAINING. My name is Francine. I joined sparks in February, but just joined here this week-end.
I lost 35 pounds and then gained 10 back, and just cant seem to get back on track, so I joined sparks. Since I've joined, I haven't lost anything but I have changed some of my bad habits and I do exercise more.

I do have a few health problems. I don't like to use that as an excuse, but it does seem to have an effect on my diets.

I am hoping that by changing some of my bad habits, I will lose the weight slowly but surely.

April Goal: I feel that I need another month at the same goals.

Hi! I've just joined this team but I joined Spark in October. I've lost about 13 pounds since joining and I want to lose another 9 pounds. Since joining, I've set a goal of 2 pounds off a month because I want to set up a lifestyle I can live with for the long term.

My weight history: Until 40 I was average weight without effort. After that I went through overweight to obese twice. I was halfway back there last summer and decided it turn it around before it went any further.

Welcome Deborah!
When you have many health problems or a lot of weight to lose, it is easy to get discouraged.
Set yourself up for success by making small steps and starting streaks.
For example, walk to the mailbox every day (that is how I started.)
Drink water whenever you feel a craving...even if you give in to it, you have had your water!
Smile at your reflection every time you pass a mirror. When you are alone, seeing a smiling face is very uplifting. emoticon
Journal or track your moods (include happy ones...too many people forget them!) your nutrition and activity.
And keep checking into Spark...we may be "Imaginary friends" but we still care! emoticon

Hello, my name is Deborah. I have 100 lbs to loose...and have had for the past 3+ years since being diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, two carcinoid tumors, and being told I am bi-polar within two weeks. I went into a tail-spin and had out of control eating for many months after that. I will loose real good for a few months then some little thing will upset me and I gain most of it back...get upset about that and gain some more. I am on a new med for my bi-polar and this one seems to be working well with controlling my moods and thus is keeping my feelings in check much better. I have been with SP for a few years...forgot about logging in for a long time. Then when my Dr. told me I might need bladder surgery--but--could avoid it if I lost at least 20 pounds, I decided then to get back in gear with SP and be faithful daily about logging in and tracking everything. I love how I can rack my blood sugars during the day and that helps keep that in check. I need a feeling meter! I thrive with lots of conversation...I live in the country and have no friends. My husband works all day and when he is home he wants to just relax and enjoy some TV. I am a mother of 5 and grandmother to 3. I love cats and for a period of 5 years we bred the Munchkin cat breed and showed many of them to Supreme Grand Champion status. We now have 5 left and have adopted an old tom who lives outside and ventures indoors when the weather is too chilly for him. I am excited to be a part of this group!!

I lurked for a little while and finally joined, then didn't get a chance to log in to SP for a week or so (very unlike me, usually I log my nutrition & fitness daily). Slow losers.....this sounds like just the right team for me! I have a goal of 3 lbs/month.

I'm a 57 year old woman that has a total of 92 lbs to lose to reach a decent weight where I can possibly get off of blood pressure pills and also not hurt so much from RA of the spine. I've been told by my doctor that the less extra weight I'm carrying the less stress there will be on my joints. I don't expect to lose it fast. It took me 8 years to put on all the weight. My goal is to drop 2 lbs every month and keep it off til I reach my 92 lb goal.
I am married to Bob and he's just had to get a pacemaker/defibrullator in March, and is still adjusting to having a very weak heart (20% heart strength), so I tend to stress over his health a lot, and when I'm stressing out, I tend to eat more than I should. So I will be working on making healthier food choices over time.

I've lost 30 lbs since this time last year, so that's ... 2.5 lbs a month? S L O W ! ! So I think I'm in the right place. I have 15 or so to go. I'm terrified of just waking up one morning to find all 30 lbs back on plus a few.
Glad this team is here and looking forward to meeting people.

Hey, I'm and extreme slow loser. I lose about 1-2 lbs a month, IF IM LUCKY! iT TOOK ME 4 YEARS TO LOSE 40 LBS. My name is Tiffany. Ive tried spark people, along with other plans( Atkins etc...) with little to no results. I gain weight super quick. I now have a 18 month old, and need to lose another 30 lbs, to get to my target weight. Would love some encouragement! Any success stories out there, from SLOW losers?

Hey. I'm a long time lurker, well even that is not really true bc I keep taking months off of Spark. So I haven't really even lurked this team.
Anyways, I'm Leigh and I am such a slow loser that I'm a gainer!
Seriously, I have done every diet out there and they all work, once. Then never again. I am at the point where I really don't know how to lose weight.
But the thing I am really looking for on SP is a team, or members who want to post and chat regularly. Support! That is the thing I really REALLY need.

Hello, hello!

I am Enk and definitely a slow loser. I lost 50lbs over the span of a year through permanent lifestyle changes (90% food choices) and I am hoping to lose another 65-ish pounds over the next two years. When I started losing weight rather quickly, I told myself I'd be okay with weight loss wrinkles and extra stretch marks (I get them when I lose weight... so weird) until I got my first weight loss wrinkles and extra stretch marks. NOPE! So, I have slowed down because I am vain. Also never going to be a single-digit clothing size lady and that's fine, but a size 12 in pants would be nice.

Hey all. I joined this group some time last week (or maybe the week before?) but it has been crazy at our house, so this is the first I've sat at the computer in ages.

I'm Kat in Boise. on my 2nd marriage and I have a teen son from my first marriage. He lives with his dad. I want to lose the weight that has been globbing onto me since just after HS. Yes, I've been overweight for 20 years.

I have no desire to be the HS size again, and I want to stay in double digit sizes, but I'd much rather smaller number! ;) I want to keep my curves but I also want to do normal every day things w/o my heart racing and my face getting red.



Losing weight slowly is so much more appealing than GO! GO! GO! GO!

Well behaved women rarely make history.

Hello everyone. My name is Kim and I have been using SparkPeople for about two weeks. I'm starting to find different tools and a few "teams" I think will help support my success. My weight issues are from yo-yo dieting, medication and lack of motivation. I've been at my goal weight many times and yet today I am back in another familiar territory larger than I like. Losing weight some weeks goes well and then for several weeks I will see the same number on the scale. This time I'm looking at the entire picture and not just the number. I truly want this to be the time it sticks. Here's to make positive life changes:)

Hi everyone! My name is Karen and because of many reasons my doctor has put me on a very slow program starting with consistently adhering to my raw organic eating program. This is going to slow my program down with weight loss for sure. Thought since my moto is "Being the Turtle" I'd join this team.

HI My name is Kylie and I have lost 40 pounds in about a year and a half ! I have 20 more pounds to go until i reach the top of the healthy weight range and 35 more to go until I reach my goal weight .The more I lose the harder it is to get the pounds off and the more stressful it is , I have gone back to baby steps and its been going great ! I saw this team and thought it is for me ! I am looking forward to be on an active team and taking it slow , I hope to work up from being a slug to a tortoise and then maybe just maybe a Ninja Turtle ! Turtle power !
