Hi, I'm Evelyn.

I've been carefully eating the right amounts of the right foods since mid-May, and sometimes I get frustrated that I'm not losing weight faster. Then I look at the numbers and realize that I've been losing just about 1.5 pounds/week, which is exactly what I'm aiming for!

I've been to this rodeo before - I've been overweight most of my life except for twice when I dieted down to my goal weight. Once I maintained my goal weigh for six months, and once for for two years. I don't know how long I'll maintain this time, or even whether I'll get there. But eating healthy foods in healthy amounts can't be bad for me, so I might as well try.

And I'm choosing to believe that I will reach my goal weight and I will maintain it indefinitely, probably by tracking my food and eating like I am now for the rest of my life. Right now, I feel as if nothing could make me happier. :)

Hi Dequinta and everyone else, my name is Vicki and I recently had to start over with my weight loss efforts, I'm doing it differently this time, looking to build habits that can ACTUALLY be sustainable for a lifetime.

I explain more about it in a recent blog post:http://thriceblessed-lessofme.blogspo
t.com/2016/05/beginning-again.html

I'm joining this team because it seems your goals are similar to mine, take the pounds off slowly, eat healthy in a way that I can continue to do for life, moderate exercise that actually fits into my life...

:-D

Jesus died to set me free and its about time I let Him do it!

Hi everyone,
My name is Nana - not new to Spark but have fallen off in a major way in the last 2 years. Almost 29 years old. Highest weight loss was almost 30 pounds with Spark about 4 years ago. Due to stressful career and lack of mindfullness I've gained back all the weight I loss. At this point, I have 50 pounds to lose. Looking for a supportive community and interesting challenges to jumpstart/maintain my weight loss again.

Have a great day!
Nana

Good morning all. I am new to this team. I need to lose at least 10 pounds but would like to lose a little more than that. I fluctuate between 145 and 147. I have tried different tactics and now I am starting to drink more water and stop drinking sodas. My main issue is the sodium intake so I have been watching that as well.

Greetings! I need to lose at least 50 pounds. I'm 67 and retired. I've lost weight multiple times, but not kept it off. I was discussing this issue with my husband and told him that I know what I should and shouldn't eat and that I should exercise. He kindly asked me why I wasn't doing it. My reply: I need motivation and accountability. I'm hoping to find those things on this team.

This is the first team I joined and I don't know why I left. I am still losing weight slow and still feel like a turtle. I am not leaving again. I don't care how many teams I belong to. emoticon

Hello All. I have about 30 pounds to loose. I'll be 50 this year. I'm tired of the same thing year after year so this is my year to get it together. Pounds lost, clutter gone, cobwebs out of my head, as if that wasn't enough, deciding what I want to be when I grow up is also on the agenda.

Now that the kids are grown and almost gone, I also would like to know who I am. Where do I belong in this world and what is my mission.

I'm alive. I'm waking up. This is my time. This is my life.

Rejoined, new user name:

I'm Vicki, 59 years old, and over 100 lbs. too heavy.
I don't expect to ever get my weight back down to under
198 lbs., but for now I'm working to get down to 225 lbs.
I've struggled with trying to find a plan I can live with
long term and I feel low fat is my best course of action.
I'm not a huge meat eater and I do love veggies & fruits,
so it makes sense to me, to work with the foods I enjoy
the most. Time will tell if I'm on the right course.
I'm not very active due to back issues so I'm not
able to get in a lot of exercise other than walking, and
some days it's hard to do even that. But I keep trying.

Good morning!

I am new to this team but I have been off and on SP for several years. It is nice to find as team that is for people who lose slowly like me. I have to work really hard to lose one pound. I have recently been diagnowsed with Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis along with type 2 diabetes. I am having to learn my body again because it has changed so much in the last 2 years.

I hope I will be able to encourage others as much as they can encourage me.

Hi all,

I'm back after a long hiatus and now 20 more pounds to lose.

Had a serious wakeup call last week with my blood pressure. I lost my mom 2 1/2 years ago after a long bout with diabetes and parkinson's disease. I do NOT want to go down the same road. When my blood pressure was higher last week, it woke me up out of my food/lazy coma. I don't want high blood pressure, diabetes for my future.

I work with a vegetarian who is very conscious of everything that she eats. I used to always think skinny people don't think about it, they are just skinny. Not true. It helps me realize that yes, this is for life and you have to work at it. Sure there are some who are naturally thin but most people have to watch what they eat, etc. I dreaded the thought that I had to consciously think about my weight, food, exercise all the time but then my lack of doing it is always on my mind so why not just do it? What an epiphany right? I already feel more relaxed. hahaha!

This is what focusing on right now for small changes so I don't obsess about the scale. *Meal planning for my family with healthy choices.
*Making every effort to be creative with dishes so I don't end up eating the same thing everyday and getting bored.
*Finding things like banana oatmeal with blueberries and LOVING it!
*Seeing a podiatrist this week to deal with my foot pain so I can exercise again!

Thanks all, so happy to be back!!

Sunny

Oh I am SO happy to find this group!! After spending a few hours over the past few days reading posts and challenges that I can't relate to...finally here you all are! My peeps. Let's lose weight and be healthy together!!

A little about me:
After the initial water loss, I lose weight at a glacier-like pace. At that point I'd increase exercise and decrease calories. I've tried so many different programs, kits, foods, exercises, DVDs, equipment and whatever that this time it's just me being me learning how to be fit and hoping to enjoy that freedom of movement again. No pushiness.

I'm a geek (And proud of it!) and tend to sustain injuries easily from exercise. Yep, I also have an inhaler that I use for my asthma, can you get any more stereotypical? Don't think so. anyways...I've been walking 5 days a week since November averaging 5-7 miles per week. However, I did take a week break due to an ankle injury.

Today I began the food aspect of my new journey - sugar addiction.

I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Not exactly a new member, but an old one who is back - it has been a few years.

I seem to swing from gym junkie to couch potato in 5 year cycles. My weight swings 40 lbs over the course of these cycles. Usually an injury starts the slide down to couch potato and it takes me a long time to get my mojo back. I am trying very hard to not let that happen again. My 50 birthday is approaching and recovery is not going to get easier at this point in my life.

I have lost about 30 lbs so far with a goal of losing 20-25 more. I try to eat clean, but refuse to give up coffee or alcohol. :)

Glad to be back on board.

Hi Kelly.welcome aboard! I live in Iowa at the corner of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. I have been on my weight loss journey for about two and a half years, but have stalled in the past six months. Lots of stress in my life. I am trying to get back into the groove of weight lifting. I was doing great for about a year, but I took a new job responsibility a few months ago and don't have time now. And my responsibilities at home make it difficult to find time. I am caregiver to two disabled people, my husband and mother.

Good afternoon! I'm technically not a new member, but I've been away from Sparkpeople for a while now. My scale and fit of my clothes have been reminding me that I need to get back here. There has been some work stress, home stress, college-shopping stress, and financial stress going on, so it's time to make some changes where I can. This is one of them!

My name is Kelli and I live in Northern Illinois (near the WI border) with my husband and three kids (almost 18 yrs, 13 years and almost 12 yrs).

I'm starting again with the small changes and look forward to stopping in here frequently.

I hope you're all doing well. Talk to you again soon!

Take care,

Kelli

Hi my name is Joyce, been a member since 2013 but only became active in Sept 2014. Been going up and down the scale, I think taking it slow and easy may be the way for me. I am also going to try the 21 day fix. With anything it will work if I put my mind to it. But was thinking, I get tired of getting out the measuring cups etc, and with the containers in the right amount of servings would make it easier for me. Have a great day.

My blog yesterday was about how SLOWLY I am loosing....and one of my buddies suggested maybe I should joing a SLOW LOOSERS team! So I did.....Been around here since 2007. Was over 200 at one time, which is WAY too much for 5 feet tall! Have been wanting to loose another 25 at least for a LONG time. Weight has stabilized where I am, and it is a battle royal to kick its butt!!!

Hi, I am Pixieburds. I am 60 years old and have been on my weight loss journey for two years. Right now I am stuck in another long plateau. I think I have gained and lost the same 3 pounds every week for the past 4 months. It is do frustrating. But I am following my diet, I am limiting carbs a lot, I keep my portions reasonable. And I am exercising 5-6 days a week with strength training. I know that eventually it will move downward again. But I sure am tires of the 180's. I started out at 253, and I have lost lots of inches. I am stronger now than ever in my life too. Most of all, my health is better. My diabetes is controlled, and I keep the blood sugars less than 125. I no longer need to use my CPAP for sleep apnea, I am not taking pain meds for my arthritis, and I don't have to take Prilosec any more for GERD. So, even though the scale is stubborn, I know I am on the right track. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Hello Team,
My name is Brenda, and I am from Eastern Arkansas. I have been on Sparkpeople (off and on) since 2007. I have lost and gained the same 30 pounds since 2003. It seems that I have been trying to lose weight all my life. In 2011, after years of trying to find what was wrong with me, I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. On top of that I have sleep apenea and I have had three knee replacements in the past 12 years. I am often exhausted and have no energy or motivation. I am the slowest Loser.

emoticon everyone , my name is Linda & I just joined. I've been a member of spark since 11/2009. Started at 276lbs. & the lowest I got was 202 lbs. I never saw Onederland yet. That is a main goal for me this year. I've been losing the same 30 to 40 lbs. since 2009. I have been back on track since 1/3/2015. I'm down to 234 lbs. as of today. This time around it's slow going losing the weight. I think my age is finally catching up slowing down my metabolism or just maybe I'm consuming more calories than I think I am. A lot of food I eat has the calorie content on the packaging. I guess I have to get back to weighing & measuring everything. If that doesn't work I have to start walking more.

Go for it, CandyCane! I just turned 60 and have completely transformed my body over the last 7 years. Slow and steady is the way to do it. I get a lot of steps, do a little strength training, and track everything I eat. But I eat plenty! Make easy exercises an every day habit and you'll be on your way!

Hi, I just joined this team. I've been a member of SP for 2 1/2 yrs now. I've lost 44 lbs so far. I've come up on a brick wall, so to speak. I just have no motivation or even desire to do anything regarding my health/diet/fitness. I know that's got to change and when I saw this team, I thought maybe I'd find something or someone that can help me get my spark back! I'm a 57 year old mom & grandma. I did found some good books on fitness for those 50 yrs old and older by Dr Karl Knoff. It starts out slowly, building up strength and flexibility and stamina. I'm going to try that out starting tomorrow!

I'm back at Spark People after a few years away (I was Myrtlebee or Myrtleboo--I don't remember). Anyway, I was on this team before. I will be concentrating on changing unhealthy habits to healthy ones in small steps and will be happy if that happens to result in weight loss. I do need to lose a pretty significant amount of weight, but I am trying to improve my health most of all.

I am new to this team but not to Sparkpeople. I have been on this weight loss journey for 13 years now and have lost 114lbs. I have come close to reaching my goal weight once and had lost almost 252lbs but had a stroke at 28 years old and gained alot of my weight back. I am committed to losing this weight the right way this time and doing it slow WITHOUT diet pills that cause stroke! so far I have changed my diet to eating healthier food choices and I have been exercising more at the gym. I also have an accountability partner in my sister and fellow sparker, Artist8784 who keeps me on track. she challenges me and we both recently bought fitbit activity trackers to challenge ourselves to go further with exercise. One of the big things that has helped me is to take measurements other than weight. when I haven't seen alot of weight loss I have seen tremendous changes in inches lost. for instance this last month I lost 6.4lbs but lost 11 inches total off my body. where I was hoping for 2lbs a week in weight loss and didn't get it I was still happy because I lost inches. anyways, to find out more about me see my sparkpage there is alot more to read there.

Thank you Westernsage for inviting me to the team! I use my Wii Fit equipment as my scale and always set my weight loss goal as a half pound in two weeks. I am maintaining at the upper end of healthy BMI, but it might not be my healthiest weight. I'll figure it out ... SLOWLY!

Well, I'm back for the first time since 2012. I am looking for a woman I used to follow on here and I'm pretty sure she was on this team. I can see her face and I wish I could remember her screen name. She had mobility issues and had lost over 100 pounds last I knew. She would use an arm bicycle. I know this is pretty vague, but, maybe someone will remember. Any suggestions as to who she may be is great appreciated emoticon

Hubby and I are working to lose 60 lbs over the next year. He has a severely damaged heart and is on a very low calorie/ low sodium plan and I'm doing the same plan with him. Since Sept. 13th, he's down 23 lbs and I'm down 13 lbs.

Hey there. IDK if i ever introduced myself on here. I've been away from SP for... I don't even know. A long time.
I have watched my weight creep up over the past few years. I am officially at my highest high.
:(
I really need people who I can chat with and relate to who don't judge me.
I'm a yoga, hoop and belly dance teacher. My life goal is to motivate people (especially women) to live the life they want now at this size, in this body.
But that doesn't mean that I don't want to get my health in order before it's too late!
I'm interested in making some new and active SP friends.
Namaste :)

New to the group but been on SP a while now. I'm 36, sahm that homeschools my youngest and apparently slow at weight loss. Hormones caused my weight gain, I've been off them a few yrs now but the weight stayed.
I got serious about weight loss starting mid Aug. I even started boxing beginning of Sept. I'm averaging a 5" & 2.5 lbs loss a month. I get frustrated sometimes because I feel I should be losing as much as many others, 1-2 lbs a week. I have a decent diet & exercise 30-50 mins a day.

REJOINING, OLD MEMBER...

Hi, I'm Vicki and I'm 58 years old. Salt has always been hard for me to cut back on but due to my husbands severely damaged heart he has to cut back to no more than 2000 grams a day and 1200 calories a day. So I'm following the same plan he's doing to make it easier on both of us. Right now our goals are to eat in a much healthier fashion and to lose 60 lbs over the next 12 months.

Hi, I'm Kris. I joined the team a while ago but don't think I ever introduced myself. I'm 45 (nearly 46) and married to a wonderful man. We have a great life and love riding the Harley, hanging out with family and playing with our many pets (1 cat, 2 Russian tortoises, 2 Ball Pythons).

I've been on this journey for a long time and I keep losing and re-gaining the same 40lbs. I want it gone! I am working on a new program where I can make lasting changes to live the healthiest life possible.

Recently I decided to take control of what we eat by making a grocery list and doing the meal planning. It has worked out really well. I've made 90% of our meals at home for the past 2 weeks and all have been healthy, low calorie, low fat type recipes. Many of them from SP. It's amazing how much different I feel just in two weeks of not eating out. I don't feel sluggish or bloated. And I definitely don't miss any of the junk. Even when we'd go out to eat, I'd try to get the healthiest option---but shockingly---those options aren't all that healthy. All the chemicals, preservatives, grease, and ick were just slowing me down. I'm sleeping better and waking up without an alarm. I don't feel as tired in the morning as I used to. What a huge change!!!

Anyway, I'm a believer that a slow approach helps those new habits really sink in. I'm happy to be on the team!!!

If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves. Thomas Edison

Hi everyone. My name is Diane and I am an extremely slow loser. I lose about 1/2 -1 lb a month. I have tried so many plans to get this monster under control. I joined SP in February. I was doing well with the changes that I made and then my health issued flared up. I am currently recuperating and trying to get some things in place so that I can continue my journey. Because I am a very slow loser, it just discourages me so much especially when I see others in my threads losing 2-3 pounds per week compared to my 1/4-1/2 lb per week. I seem to gain weight so fast and it takes me forever to lose it.

I look forward to chatting with you and your successes. I am a person who loves to encourage and inspire others and I look forward to being on this team for support and encouragement.

SparkCheers

Hi, I recently joined Spark and this team. I'm 29. My SO works out of town all week and I take care of his son and our son at home. It gets a little stressful at times. At the beginning of the year, as my son turned three, I realized that I gained 60 pounds since he was born! That's a lot of weight. I am hoping to take the weight off a little faster than I gained it, but I know that slow and steady always wins the race. emoticon
