Hi! I've just joined this team but I joined Spark in October. I've lost about 13 pounds since joining and I want to lose another 9 pounds. Since joining, I've set a goal of 2 pounds off a month because I want to set up a lifestyle I can live with for the long term.

My weight history: Until 40 I was average weight without effort. After that I went through overweight to obese twice. I was halfway back there last summer and decided it turn it around before it went any further.

I'm British, living permanently in Japan and 63 years old. Looking forward to getting to know you. emoticon

Hi, I just found this team and I think it's what I need. I have about 60 pounds to lose -- 60 to 70. I've been with SP for almost two years and have lost about 30. I'm just stuck. I'm on my way to a meeting now but will be back later to read posts and such.

When you have many health problems or a lot of weight to lose, it is easy to get discouraged.
Set yourself up for success by making small steps and starting streaks.
For example, walk to the mailbox every day (that is how I started.)
Drink water whenever you feel a craving...even if you give in to it, you have had your water!
Smile at your reflection every time you pass a mirror. When you are alone, seeing a smiling face is very uplifting. emoticon
Journal or track your moods (include happy ones...too many people forget them!) your nutrition and activity.
And keep checking into Spark...we may be "Imaginary friends" but we still care! emoticon

Hello, my name is Deborah. I have 100 lbs to loose...and have had for the past 3+ years since being diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, two carcinoid tumors, and being told I am bi-polar within two weeks. I went into a tail-spin and had out of control eating for many months after that. I will loose real good for a few months then some little thing will upset me and I gain most of it back...get upset about that and gain some more. I am on a new med for my bi-polar and this one seems to be working well with controlling my moods and thus is keeping my feelings in check much better. I have been with SP for a few years...forgot about logging in for a long time. Then when my Dr. told me I might need bladder surgery--but--could avoid it if I lost at least 20 pounds, I decided then to get back in gear with SP and be faithful daily about logging in and tracking everything. I love how I can rack my blood sugars during the day and that helps keep that in check. I need a feeling meter! I thrive with lots of conversation...I live in the country and have no friends. My husband works all day and when he is home he wants to just relax and enjoy some TV. I am a mother of 5 and grandmother to 3. I love cats and for a period of 5 years we bred the Munchkin cat breed and showed many of them to Supreme Grand Champion status. We now have 5 left and have adopted an old tom who lives outside and ventures indoors when the weather is too chilly for him. I am excited to be a part of this group!!

I'm a 57 year old woman that has a total of 92 lbs to lose to reach a decent weight where I can possibly get off of blood pressure pills and also not hurt so much from RA of the spine. I've been told by my doctor that the less extra weight I'm carrying the less stress there will be on my joints. I don't expect to lose it fast. It took me 8 years to put on all the weight. My goal is to drop 2 lbs every month and keep it off til I reach my 92 lb goal.
I am married to Bob and he's just had to get a pacemaker/defibrullator in March, and is still adjusting to having a very weak heart (20% heart strength), so I tend to stress over his health a lot, and when I'm stressing out, I tend to eat more than I should. So I will be working on making healthier food choices over time.

Hey, I'm and extreme slow loser. I lose about 1-2 lbs a month, IF IM LUCKY! iT TOOK ME 4 YEARS TO LOSE 40 LBS. My name is Tiffany. Ive tried spark people, along with other plans( Atkins etc...) with little to no results. I gain weight super quick. Hey. I'm a long time lurker, well even that is not really true bc I keep taking months off of Spark. So I haven't really even lurked this team.
Anyways, I'm Leigh and I am such a slow loser that I'm a gainer!
Seriously, I have done every diet out there and they all work, once. Then never again. I am at the point where I really don't know how to lose weight.

Hello, hello!

I am Enk and definitely a slow loser. I lost 50lbs over the span of a year through permanent lifestyle changes (90% food choices) and I am hoping to lose another 65-ish pounds over the next two years. When I started losing weight rather quickly, I told myself I'd be okay with weight loss wrinkles and extra stretch marks (I get them when I lose weight... so weird) until I got my first weight loss wrinkles and extra stretch marks. NOPE! So, I have slowed down because I am vain. Also never going to be a single-digit clothing size lady and that's fine, but a size 12 in pants would be nice.

Hey all. I joined this group some time last week (or maybe the week before?) but it has been crazy at our house, so this is the first I've sat at the computer in ages.

I'm Kat in Boise. on my 2nd marriage and I have a teen son from my first marriage. He lives with his dad. I want to lose the weight that has been globbing onto me since just after HS. Yes, I've been overweight for 20 years.

I have no desire to be the HS size again, and I want to stay in double digit sizes, but I'd much rather smaller number! ;) I want to keep my curves but I also want to do normal every day things w/o my heart racing and my face getting red.



Losing weight slowly is so much more appealing than GO! GO! GO! GO!

Well behaved women rarely make history.

Hello everyone. My name is Kim and I have been using SparkPeople for about two weeks. I'm starting to find different tools and a few "teams" I think will help support my success. My weight issues are from yo-yo dieting, medication and lack of motivation. I've been at my goal weight many times and yet today I am back in another familiar territory larger than I like. Losing weight some weeks goes well and then for several weeks I will see the same number on the scale. This time I'm looking at the entire picture and not just the number. I truly want this to be the time it sticks. Here's to make positive life changes:)

HI My name is Kylie and I have lost 40 pounds in about a year and a half ! I have 20 more pounds to go until i reach the top of the healthy weight range and 35 more to go until I reach my goal weight .The more I lose the harder it is to get the pounds off and the more stressful it is , I have gone back to baby steps and its been going great ! Hey guys! I'm Emily and I'm a slow loser, not to be confused with a sore loser. I've seen this team around and have always thought the name was so clever! While I was looking for some new teams to kick-start my motivation again, this team popped up. I can definitely say I fit in. It's been close to 3 years ago that I was at my heaviest ever. Back then, I had to force myself to walk for 10 minutes on the treadmill. One thing led to another and 2 years ago, I was introduced to Sparkpeople. I am now a superwoman who has walk/jogged a 5K recently and lost 50 pounds. Not that much compared to some people, but It seemed to daunting 3 years ago! I'd say 50 pounds over 2 1/2 years is pretty slow.

My name is "Bobbi" and I am not new been here before...but left...I am 57yrs old and,
I am 5"3 tall and married to my hubby Ronnie...for 19yrs as of 5-2....just wanna say I,
have 100 to 200+ pounds to lose and that is why,
I am here....I have been on and off of sparks for many years and end up back like I was,
every time I leave here...but I have many medical health issues and if it wasn't for my hubby,
I don't know what I would do...I flatlined in 2010 and came out on a walker and been on it,
ever since ugh...I hate that walker...anyway things need fixing before I end up worse off,

(Trying to fix things and that is why I am back here to fix the things that need fixed ugh)

I am determined to do this for me once again "Healthy" is the magic word for me.

I just wanna be thin again once and for all...I am so tired of being "OBESE" like forever.

I wanna feel good about myself once again...I am so tired of being on that "Roller Coaster"
Ride and I think it is time to fix things...the right way now...I am tired of all the crying I do and,
I just wanna say it can be done though all the support and encouragement from Sparkfriends.

emoticon I'm from Michigan.
Since 'falling off the wagon' of a healthier lifestyle this year I have managed to put on 20 more pounds than I was at my heaviest last year. My BMI now falls into the "Morbidly Obese" red zone! emoticon

My weight-bearing joints hurt and it has become difficult to do most anything. My work clothes (scrubs) are tight. I do not want to go shopping for the bigger sizes again! emoticon

I've been back Sparking for a few days now and have dropped 4 pounds. This really needs to happen this time! I may need some support and I will be there for anyone else who needs an encouraging word. emoticon

Started SparkCoach four days ago. Four pounds down in 4 days. Nice. I know that rate of fat-dropping can't be sustained, but it sure feels good so far.

What has quietly amazed me so far is the no-hunger on slightly less than 1500 calories a day. Can't get over how amazingly easy this is feeling so far. I'm spending a lot more minutes logging food, checking blood sugar, writing quick journal notes, PAYING ATTENTION, being ferociously vigilant about nutrition risks. Still eating a tiny bit of junk, but I'm now hyper-alert to it. No more unconscious slobbery.

Self-respect feels good, too.

Maybe slow is best. That's how I added this body-burden. That's how I'll solve it. From 215.6 yesterday back down to 138 at the rate of one pound a week. Why 138? That was my marathon weight. Felt superb. Probably never finish a marathon again, but I can feel that good again. One pound a week.

Good morning, I was on sparkpeople years ago, but I drifted away and now I am almost to my highest high. Hello everyone - I'm reintroducing myself. I was active on Spark People for quite awhile then drifted away. I tried a few other support programs/apps but came back to Spark People because this is an actual community - people talk and support and advise and commiserate.

So I've been as low as 259, gained back to 281 though that is still down from the 297 I started with and have now been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.

This isn't my first rodeo on my weight loss journey. About 10 years ago, I lost 100 lbs in about 18 months. Then 'life' happened, parents deaths, marriage, child, etc. and I gained a LOT of it back. I take solace on the fact I didn't gain it 'all' back and then some though. I also know that losing it slow and steady and making this an entire lifestyle change will help you succeed despite everything we have to deal with in life.

I am a 35 year old music teacher in Colorado. I'm excited to join SP and really excited to find this team. With all the hype around programs sold on TV that promise a body builder's body in 90 days or less, I wanted to find something more sustainable and real (for me)- something slow and steady!! Welcome Bobbie, Let me know how prednisone works for you. I was on it for my UC and had to take large amounts decreasing each week. Not to scare you but I put on a lot of weight, got diabetes and fibromyalgia. I was so happy when I could go off of it. Being a drug sensitive person I cannot take many medications.

Like you I am a hit and miss at replies, mainly because of the pain of arthritis in my fingers plus I am borderline gout.

One thing I have learned is to go slow and easy. Seem to get better results.

Hi, My name is "Bobbi" and I am 57yrs old and I to live in California...I have been off and On of sparks because of different reasons of my medical problems and so I will see if I can do this again my weight is very slow now and I thought I would start weighing in once a month,
now to see if this may help me or not ugh...but This place is like my own family and so here,
I go if I don't post everyday please don't think anything about it because the last few days my "Gout" has been really bothering me with very much pain...I am taking "PREDNISONE"
right now for 5 days today is my 3rd day now seems like it is getting better but still pains a lil,
and so wish me luck I hate "GOUT" Ugh sometimes I have flair-ups and sometimes its ok.

Hi my name is Kathryn I live in Ca and am in my 50's. I have been a member of Spark People for over a year and really like making new friends and giving support in our travels to get healthier. I am a Weight Watchers member and have lost over 30 pounds. I have about 30 more to go until I will be happy, my doctor is happy now. I see him every 3 months as I am a diabetic. I have been off meds. for some time now and even off blood pressure meds. I have on this journey gained weight but have turned back around and lost it when I started eating right. I have a problem with binging but have been on a streak for 8 day now and have made changes in what I eat. I have a little of my trigger foods every now and than so I don't think about them all the time.

Do more of what makes you healthy

You can crumble or you can conquer

The only way to finish your workout is to start

Those who succeed are the ones who look in the mirror and see no change, but continue anyway knowing they'll get there in time
