Hi Theresa, I too have a family history of diabetes and heart disease. My mom who is in her early 60s is now battling heart blockages, thyroid issues (for years), among many more. My dad is now diabetic with high blood pressure and is going to see a heart doctor tomorrow. So I know where you are coming from and how you not only want to lose the weight for yourself but for your family to be there to support them and enjoy a full life too.
This is a great team and if you stick to being consistent, read articles-blogs-team topics and do the tracking you'll see the results. Focus on one small thing at a time and let the momentum build each day, week, month and into a spark-aversary. Focus on your positive actions and move forward.
to the team Theresa I know that and we are here to encourage you and help you.

Hi all - I'm Theresa
I'm here to learn a better, healthier way to loose weight because if I don't then I'm going to end up like my Dad.
Some history, I was never small (family genetics, I swear), but wasn't really overweight until my daughter was born in 2006 when I weighed 196 lbs at 5'3". My mother and I joined WW together and it worked, I dropped to 165 within a few months and stayed there. I was fine with this until April 2008 when I was diagnosed with EBV, which became full blown Mono in July 2008. By the time I was over the mono (a year and a half later), I weighed 215 lbs, had developed sleep apnea, had no energy to play with my 4 yr old, and couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without wheezing.
I can't do this anymore. My family history of diabetes and heart disease means I have to change something. My PDoc says if I can loose weight then my risk levels go down and I might be able to loose the CPAP (Please, I hate that mask). I've tried doing it alone, but it isn't working well. I need accountability and people to turn to for encouragement, suggestions, and sometimes a kick in the butt.
So here I am...turning 34 in February with a 4 yr old daughter and trying for another one. My husband is finishing his BS in December and looking for work. My Mom lives with us since my father died of a heart attack (his 2nd, along with the end stage renal and other complications of diabetes). I have to do this, but I have to do so in a way that works with my family.
So, yeah...Hi!
