I also realize that my hypothyroid is putting a wrench into my weight lose, but also learning a lot for members of the spark family and how different foods affect you differently.

IT'S NOT A LIFE STYLE CHANGE IF YOU GO AT WEIGHT LOSS LIKE YOUR TRYING TO KILL SNAKES, THE ONLY THING THAT WILL HAPPEN IS THAT YOU WILL BURN OUT ON IT QUICKLY, MUCH LIKE ANYTHING ELSE THAT IS STARTED WITH SUCH RELISH. AS THEY SAY A LIGHT THAT BURNS TOO BRIGHTLY BURNS OUT QUICKLY, SUCH AS TRYING TO LIVE UP TO UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS, AS WITH WEIGHTLOSS OR ANY OTHER UNREALISTIC GOAL. GO AT IT SLOWLY AND INTELLIGENTLY WITH A WINNABLE AND ATTAINABLE GAME PLAN AND GOALS.
Very well said. It is always best to lose slowly because it becomes a permanent loss contrary to the quick loss schemes out there. Happy to have you on board!

In the past like most of you I went for the fast approach, and tried all kinds of diets..but what I find that really works for me this time at the age of 53 is slow and sometimes slower...this month I lost only 1-lb, but others only 4, BUT I feel more in control and happier and not deprived. Life is too short to feel deprived etc. I do make better choices and decided to give up butter, white flour, etc. a long time ago due to high cholesterol and exercise no matter how much my mind tells me no, because I know then I want to do more once I start ::))..
It is about health and happiness. I never ever tell myself after a bad day or two that I have to start back at square one as that leads me to feel like a failure and brings back memories of all the failed diets..I just pick up and move on...no more wiping the slate clean, as I have come to far to ignore my successes..
Sorry so long, but this is the greatest team...for all of us that only lose a pound here or there, but the scale continues in the downward spiral.
Oh ya, when I gain a pound or two I leave my tracker where it is, as in my mind it will only be a matter of days when I'm back to that number..and I always am.
