Welcome! You are starting out great! That's exactly how I started back in February......small changes which lead to bigger changes and education is a huge role, as well......feed your brain and not your stomach, make educated choices as to what you out in your body.......commit to the lifestyle change and you will succeed with your goals.

I have committed and have lost 45 pounds, so far (started tracking a few weeks late)

There have been some ups and downs along the path.....I was in a plateau for over a month......but I've busted through it and have had a steady loss now......accountability is key!

Good luck on your journey and remember we are all here for a reason......and support is huge!

I'm finally writing (at 6 am on Sunday morning) to introduce myself. Probably like everyone else here I have tried it all, from WW to HCG (which worked great but I never could maintain) to Dr Furman ( I would love to be able to stay committed to this lifestyle but washed out on that) to countless others. Many times I have gotten down to my goal weight (and immeditaely rushed off to have pictures done) only to bounce back plus some. I've been doing HCG on and off for about 3 years and while I am good at being compliant while I am on it, the minute its maintenance time, all bets are off. And after several rounds I just could not face another segment of life on 500 calories a day. It astounds me that I can do that while on vacation, yet, can't seem to stick with the maintenance part. So,while I say I have tried everything, there is one way I really have never tried, and that is what I am doing now- I've never in my life just tried to eat stuff that I enjoy (rather than following a "plan" from an outside source tha I may not enjoy) and being accountable for the calories. hmmmm, you mean enjoy life and enjoy food? What a concept. I remember seeing my friend Lisa over the time she lost her weight slowly and steadily I had bounced way down and way up at least 3 times. So that made me think, maybe there is a better way, one that I can maintain? I have always had the "all or nothing" mentality with this stuff and exercise. So for once, I am going to do it differently by starting with small changes that I can sustain. I decided the first step is to be accountable for calories at least, so I joined Spark People and they have this great tool where you wave your iphone over the barcode and it gives you all the nutritional info. wow. So my first steps have been to document everything every day, which takes less and less time, as I put more info into the iphone. And just to eat stuff I enjoy. Now there's a new one! And then a card came in the mail (on my birthday) for a gym that is by my house that has a class called "bodypump". When I lived in New York I got in the best shape of my life with that class so I was thrilled to find it again. This week's change is going to be actually trying to plan ahead (gasp!).
