I like the idea that as you gain more energy by exercising you can add things back in your life that you let slide to focus on meeting goals. I think maybe I am beginning to see those effects. I have gradually increased exercise and now feel like maybe I have the energy to start working harder at eating right and cooking healthier food. Tonight I actually exercised for an hour and still have energy to get on here and read blogs, etc.

to the team! I started with small goals that I knew I could meet. For instance drinking water....I couldn't start with 8 glasses so I started with 4 and moved up from there as it got easier. Set 2 or 3 small goals and go from there. Exercise is another goal to start if you haven't already because it will make you feel better; maybe not at first but soon if you stick with it. Make a plan, in writing is best or blog about it because it will make you more accountable.
What also helped was coming here often, reading blogs, posting, and encouraging others...yes, it takes time and I had less time for other activities for a while but as I got more energy and felt better I was able to add those activities back into my life.
Let us know how you are doing, even when you don't feel so gung-ho about it
Or maybe ESPECIALLY when you don't feel so gung-ho about it.

I am exactly like you...this is my second day on Spark so I am new too. These group weight loss sites I don't usually care for. But whatever I have been doing in the past has not been working for me either. The people have been so wonderful here. So I have a good feeling this might just be the thing that helps me get through this on going struggle with my health and weight.
I am trying not to go all crazy and try to do so much at first like I usually do, because that obviously has not been working for me.
I am trying to do little things - like joining in on discussions on Spark, entering my food into my tracker and committing a couple of things as goals for a week at a time. This way I am not so overwhelmed. For instance I have committed to cooking and eating my breakfast at home for this week. Oatmeal (Steel Cut) with berries and egg whites. And 8 cups of water a day. I usually eat out every meal (and not healthy at all) so I need to learn to plan ahead and cook healthy meals at home.
really really really trying to think of this as a new healthy way of life and not a diet! it is so hard! all I can think about is i need to lose x amount by x date. But this has gotten me no where in the past. lets see how it goes
It is day two and I feel good about it.

Hi, everyone. I need to lose weight, get healthy, for more then an hour a day! I am pretty much a self-explorer and usually choose to go it alone. Obviously that isn't working. Anyone been there done that? I can be gung-ho tonight but tomorrow, when temptation appears in the form of food, I sink. I am open to your thoughts.
