Welcome! I am fairly new too. I actually found the site a year ago, but then didn't really start using it until about a month ago. My best advice is what I learned from reading The Spark. Set a goal of just 10 minutes of exercise a day and see how long a streak you can go without skipping it. You most likely will do more than the 10 once you get started. As to eating, I haven't gotten good at logging every day, and if I don't log it, I eat too much. That is what I am working on now.
