Welcome, Kirsten. Your enthusiasm alone will help you achieve the new lifestyle we are all creating on SP. The tools available are fantastic and the new SP friends are so caring and supportive. It's one large caring family. Do not focus on total wgt to lose but set small weekly or monthly goals and reward yourself. Track your nutrition & fitness daily and drink more water and watch portion sizes. Stay in contact with team members thru posts so we can all support one another.

Hi! I'm new here and super excited to see all that SparkPeople has to offer. I've been using a different tool to track my nutrition each day but it doesn't have all of these great interactive features, I think they will be very helpful for me. I'm Kirsten (Kirtinarama) and I live in the desert, in Tucson, AZ. I work for a non-profit that I love, enjoy reading, taking photos, sitcoms, art, and design/architecture.

I have been overweight almost my whole life (I'm 40) and after many, many starts and stops I feel that right now I am uniquely and finally ready to make being healthier a lasting success. I understand more about myself and about overeating than I ever have, and I feel more sure of success than I have before. But I know it won't be easy and I am really looking forward to giving and getting support from folks who have similar goals and struggles.

I've been eating right since January 1 (with the exception of one cheat day that got way out of control!) and today I exercised for the first time in over a year. I'm optimistic! I'm very glad to meet all of you, I'll be perusing your profiles! Have a wonderful evening. :)
