Hello I am Lori and I joined the challenge because of my side affects from chemo and radiation I have to be more creative with my food plan. Hi, I'm not new to spark people but I am new to the team. I eat home more than eating out but tend to grab "quick" meals that I can pop in the microwave when I get home rather than cook for myself. My husband works evenings and my kids usually eat at their grandparents because of my work hours.

Hi! New to Spark People, and this is my first challenge. I started my weight loss journey 5 years ago and did quite well - I lost 84 pounds in 3 years (hitting 3, 6 month plateaus along the way) and then stalled - 2 years not a pound lost or gained. Then I gained 30 pounds back and I'm not sure how or why. I'm following SB and working out 3 times a week and trying to squeeze a walk in on 2 others days. I know a major downfall for me is a lack of time so I'm hoping for lots of tips and tricks to make meal times easier.

So glad I have found this challenge. I didn't think I needed to learn much here, but I am learning lots, and enjoying the challenge. I tried a new recipe that my daughter found on Pinterest. It is called Roasted Garlic, Chicken and Herb White Pizza. I did not make my own doughn this time. I got pillsbury refrigerated whole grain crust, and I added spinach, onion, and mushrooms. It was awesome! Around 330 calories per slice.

Hi,

I also joined to see what other changes I could make with my cooking that would be healthier. My tendency at the end of the day is that my fat category is above what it should be so it would be helpful to find more hints to keep this number in the healthiest range.

Hi, I'm so excited to be on this challenge. I am a widow and I'm the Queen of the microwave. Since I have planed to join SparkPeople. I have stocked up my frig. and pantry with the food I'll be eating for the rest of my life. I even bought those dreaded green vegetables. My name is Marilyn and I am a 60 yr old widow. I do cook most meals at home but I really need to make them healthier. I need to learn how to season food so they taste great. I get bored of eating the same thing all the time. I also need to learn to incorporate veggies and fruit into my meals.

Hi, I'm new to the team but not new to SparkPeople. I've lost 60 pounds before and regained it over the years and have fought with the same 10-25 pounds ever since. The last time I lost a large amount of weight I was counting calories obsessively, walking 5+ miles a day, and worst of all, I was taking diet pills. There was a lot of guilt and I couldn't handle it - it becomes addictive for me, something I can control. That's not good for me. This time I want to lose the weight in a healthy way, while feeling good about myself, not feeling guilty or hating myself if I slip up, while being able to eat good food and have fun exercising and ENJOY losing the weight instead of it being a punishment. I like to cook and I'm learning how to incorporate vegetables into a lot more dishes and I have found out that I love cauliflower and I'm excited to try substituting cauliflower for some carbs like tortillas and tater tots. I'm looking forward to learning and sharing my experiences with the group.

Hi, My name is Angela. I am so happy to be here. I enjoy cooking but I am challenged a bit with it because I am on a special gluten free diet and my husband is a typical meat, potatoes and bread kind of guy so I am always trying to find recipes I can modify not only into healthy low fat meals my family will eat but ones I can easily convert into gluten free ones for myself (which I can do pretty easily).

I am tend to live off of only a couple food items and cook them what they want and would really like to cook things we all can enjoy.

Hi Nola here. I've been eating healthy since July 2014 and have lost nearly 40 pounds. I was looking for a better way to organize my menus and found this site and challenge. I am learning to cook better and healthier meals. Hoping to get the extra oomph to lose the last 10 pounds or so.

Welcome to this challenge. You seem to be doing very well in your ability to loose the weight. Cooking healthy meals is a challenge. however, Spark people has wonderful recipes that you can choose and plan your menu for the week. It takes discipline and hard work, but it is doable. Take time to browse through the recipes, select some, plan a menu with a shopping list and follow through on it. You will save money and eat delicious meals.

Hello y'all! I am eager to start this challenge! So far I have lost 30 lbs since Oct by adding exercise and watching my calories. However, my biggest challenge now that I have the exercise down pat is preparing meals from home. I often go out or order in for myself and kids. This is also financially not the wisest thing to do! I always rationalize by getting something healthy while I am out but what I really want to do is cook more. I thought losing weight would be the challenge but its actually cooking healthy meals and not going out so often. HELP!!!!

You will do well by taking it one day at a time. Don't make your eating and exercising so strict that you will tire of it and get frustrated. You will do well starting small and building on it as you progress. This way you learn new healthy habits that will stick and make a big difference in your life.
