Hi everyone! I'm Jamie. I have been back (after a hmmm 7 year break?) on SparkPeople for 25 days. This time it seems my whole mindset on getting healthy is different than any other time I "tried" to lose weight/get healthy/etc. I am finding that making sure I stay accountable is the biggest thing for me (and to not make excuses for no time, which has always killed my efforts before). So far it's been great - tracking daily, eating right, exercising, spending more time with the family - all super important to me.

Anyway, can't wait to get to know you guys!

Hello everyone! I joined this team to help inspire me to get up and workout everyday. I joined Spark People 11 days ago and have completely changed the way I eat and I now exercise everyday when I used to not exercise at all. I came to Spark People after my Dr. told me my cholesterol was extremely high and my blood pressure high. That finally woke me up and I decided then and there I was going to change myself for the better. I was a complete couch potato who ate only junk food. Now I eat healthy meals and snacks and as of yesterday took my first 2 mile walk!

I joined this challenge as while I haven't found it that difficult to do 10 minutes a day, there are still days where I think "nah" and I think this might be the motivator I need.

My exercises of choice include:
- walking my dogs
- chasing Pokemon
- brushing my horse
- riding my horse
- water jogging

I want to add in some strength training. As that's where I think I'm lowest.

The thing I like best about the 10 minutes a day is that I almost always choose to extend it. But on the really busy days I can get to the end of the day and think "Oh no! I forgot to work out" and then go out and walk my dogs for 10 minutes and be done.

Hi everyone!

I joined this challenge because I tend to have an all or nothing mentality when it comes to working out. I'm a runner and an aerobics instructor (and still have about 30 pounds to lose to get into my healthy range), so to me a workout needs to be a good hour long aerobics class or a four-mile run. If I can't fit those into my day - and I truly do have a couple days a week where there is literally no time for me to get in 30 mins of exercise - then I tend to throw in the towel. Which means that, when I started my new job two weeks ago and it was too hot for me to run in the afternoon/evening (I'd been running in the cool morning weather) I went a whole week without exercising. That's a really foolish mentality to have and I'm trying to break myself of that tendency. So here I am!! Even 10 minutes a day is a success!!!

Hi Everyone! I have made much progress since my 50 days, in way of learning and using this site. Each day is it's own. Down 5#.....can see results in inches as well as pounds. I decided to not focus on myself and focus on being healthy for God. I made a contract with God and it would be unthinkable to break it. So, I wish great success for us all. Happy Saturday!

Giving God the Glory.

Hi,
My name is Karen. I am in my 50s and am diabetic and gluten intolerant. Have limited ROM due to back and neck surgeries and injury to my spine. Had a very big wake up call this spring. I want to live many years yet and I intend to do that with my whole body. Moving is a big key to this happening. I look forward to the next 4 weeks with you.

I am taking this challenge because I need to push forward & "down the scale". I do a lot of cardio while teaching water aerobics and swim lessons. I am challenging myself to do at least 10 minutes a day of cardio.. JUST FOR ME! I am looking forward to pushing myself to get this done. My name is Dawn. I am not new to Spark People. I joined in May 2009 & have been active ever since. I lead a couple of spark teams, including a BLC team. I LOVE Spark People and have made a lot of friends here. Thanks for letting me be a part of this challenge.

Hi!!
Been on Spark a while, used to be real good with working out and weight training! health problems set me back 3 yrs. I've not only gained weight, but can't seem to get back into a routine of working out! So in addition to my Pt, I'm gonna do 10min extra! Does working out on commercials count?

My name is Cherie, I'm gonna be 65 in Oct. Happily married. Have a Cochlear implant, retired hairdesigner.

Have a great day! Looking foward to meeting you all!

Cherie

I was on a medication, with a side affect of weight gain. Doc said I can stop taking it. I,ve cleaned up my eating, am walking, I did this before, I can do this again!
Spark will help!

Hi I'm Johnna and I've been a couch potato but I am determined to move and keep moving. I have trouble with some exercises because my knees hurt real bad but I started doing water aerobics and looking for some low impact exercises I can do until my knees are strengthened. Anyway the 10 minute exercise per day has been my weakness so I am hoping this team will help.

I am Misty and I have found this group, and I'm finally getting used to getting up and moving. I'm wanting to bet outside and moving and not stuck in my apartment cleaning it. I hate cleaning. Especially when its an every ending battle trying to meet unmeetable expectations. Yes there is a thing as to clean and its showing its self in my health and I am starting to get sick from it.

Hi ....... emoticon
My name is Jan and I'm often called 2B here in the Spark world.
I have been with Sparks over four years now but I like teams that are active and people interact .... Plus, it is just a good habit to start with ten minutes ........ and when I do ten leads
into more ....... This looks like an inviting place to be with challenges.
I love to write inspirational and motivational blogs here at Sparks and I do look forward to getting to know other members on this team..... emoticon

Hi emoticon I'm fairly new to SP, and Spark Coach prompted me to join this challenge so I decided to go for it.

I've been working out about 5 days per week at my apartment complex gym, and I'd like to start getting in some activity every day (doesn't have to be the gym, but its convenient for me).

I used to be in a wheelchair so this is very exciting for me. Little by little I started moving and moving more, then eating better and better. Last year I was able to ditch the wheelchair finally but still had mobility issues. Slowly but surely, I've made progress. Now I'm doing about an hour per day 5x per week at the gym and can walk for an hour on the treadmill.

I never thought walking would feel so freaking good, lol. Before the wheelchair I was one of those people who hated exercise. Now it makes me feel so... alive. emoticon

I will run someday. Maybe not fast, maybe not far. But I will be able to run again.

I'm back here at the 10-minute daily team because I can't seem to get control over a recent gaining streak. Time to go back to basics. I think I need to use the 10 minutes for high intensity training. I also have to get my eating back in control!

Hi, I am a 65 year old grandma who needs to get at least 40 pounds off her body that has rheumatoid arthritis. 10 minutes a day is better than nothing and I seem to always have something else to do before I exercise and then I don't get it done. From now on i am going to do my 10 minutes when i first get up before I think of something else to do. emoticon

I take my name from my best ever big beautiful and smart cat. Hm, I rather like that description. I am a recovering bookaholic. For the last five years, I've emptied and gotten rid of one bookcase a year. You can guess what I'd rather do than exercise. I live in Florida where I melt in the heat for half the year and suffer from allergies much of the rest. That puts a damper on the one activity I like, walking in our many local parks.

My current habits leave my weight loss efforts stagnating. I'm not gaining, but I'm not losing. "Nothing changes if nothing changes" is my new motto.

Hi, I'm Lynne and I joined this challenge because I have just not had any energy to workout . So I figured this would be a good challenge to start with to get me moving again.

Hi! I've just spent my first week with Spark People. Tracking food has become a habit so now I want to work on the exercise. I know I can give my health 10 minutes a day.

Just joined the challenge. Needed to find a way to form the healthy habit of being active every day, without the excuse of not having time. This is perfect. Who doesn't have 10 minutes? :)

10 minute workouts for me are so invigorating. It really helps me to stay on track with living a healthier lifestyle. I also walk 15 minutes a day outdoors and it's so refreshing and relaxing. I just joined this group today, and I'm already looking forward to my reward.

I want to exercise at least 10 minutes a day. Once you get started, it's easier to go longer. And every 10 minutes means I'll be that much healthier.

It's weird. I love exercising (once I get started) and feel good after I am active but I am pretty inconsistent with activity. I am hoping that this challenge will enable me to established a consistent exercise routine.

Hi! I am trying to lose 20-25 lbs. I am doing pretty good with my eating plan, but the weight is coming off soooo slow, because I am having trouble staying committed to exercising. I think this challenge will help me with that.

I'm looking for a new team to join to get motivated again. I've been with Sparkpeople since 1/25/2007. I've kept off 60 of the 70 lbs I had lost. I want to maintain for the time being. I exercise everyday at Curves and do water aerobics. So it will be fun to join this challenging team.

Hi all, I just joined. I need to lose 20-25 gained since an illness. The only initial concern I have is that looking through the all info. here it seems to be a little disorienting trying to understand how to follow team goals. I don't see where to check in to see Coach Nicole videos and where exactly to log that and other progress. Sorry that i'm a little slow in getting /understanding all of it...

Hi my name is Val. I have been working on being healthy for a while now, but am having a hard time to get to my goals. I started my exercise routine and was doing quite well, but I had a mental setback, so exercise has been sporadic. I have a large amount of weight to get to my long term goal, but I have been working on small goals. I am trying for a pound a week. I am not reaching that goal. Lately I have been losing a few ounces a week which is good. I have a couple of Dr.'s that are trying to help me by keeping track on my progress. Today I have an appointment with one of them. She wanted me to lose 20 pounds in 6 months, but today is the 6th month. I do not think I have lost 10 pounds. I am not giving up. I joined the 10 minute challenge and I am hoping that this will motivate me. So I want to say "Hello"

Hi my name is Brenda, I just started with the 10 minute workout for 5 days a week. Today was my first work out in two years. I'm happy that I finally got up and did after repeating over and over that I was and then didn't. Well today I did. I realized I can't do what I used to do. But over time I know that I will be on track again. Thanks Sparkpeople for your website and all the challenges and everything that you have for us. It is a great webpage and it's free. I tell my friends all the time about Sparkpeople. I am going to start going to the Centre to use their thread walker and see how that goes. Again thanks

Hello everyone. I am Carol and I've been on SP since August. I am a 7 year survivor of breast cancer and a few months ago, after doing a stress test, I learned that I had a mild heart attack at some point in my life. With my cardiologist's advice, I made up my mind that I need to get healthier. I am very determined to lose all this excess weight, exercise and eat healthy. My lifestyle has changed since August and I am determined to make it my last forever. I want to enjoy my children and grandchildren for a long long time.

Hello, I am Natalie. I am 58 and determined to get this weight off. I was never heavy until in my 40's and I don't like how I look in pictures. Also Having some issues with my heart rate and losing weight will greatly help. I am an LPN, currently working and I love doing crochet.

Hi - I am 62, weigh 222 and have been this same weight for over 10 years. I am newly retired and want to care about me. Would love to see the weight start coming off, I am definitely not an exercise person so things will begin to change with the help of this group. Looking forward to starting with small steps so that I do not get overwhelmed again and hurt myself.

Hi all. I am on day 6 of SP & day 1 of this challenge. I'm currently out on disability with herniated discs with pain/numbness down my leg. I guess I'm walking funny to compensate & now have hip pain on that side! emoticon I'm frustrated that I'm 54 & unable to do things I could do earlier this year! I do see a neurosurgeon tomorrow & hope he can help ASAP. I know the extra weight doesn't help & that is what is guiding me. I have been trying the different chair exercises w/Coach Nicole as well as wall pushups. I did 10 min bootcamp cardio workout video w/Coach Nicole & was able to get through with the moderations. I eased up on parts that bothered by hip & back. One day at a time!

Hello everyone... My name is Carol and I'm 70 years old. I've been sedentary and overweight for a long while now. they say it is never too late to start. so here I am. I thought that this challenge is a good way to ease into becoming more active. But I plan to do more. If there is anyone who would like to be my buddy, friend and encourager. I need all the help I can get. emoticon emoticon
