Hi new to the group!! I saw this team on one of my spark friends page and thought why not? I do some form of exercise daily, so this team should be an added motivation to keep it up!!

Hi, I'm Johnda. I need to add a new challenge to my workout. I seem to be stuck at my current weight, for awhile. Nothing has changed in what I'm doing. I walk on treadmill everyday, but I seem to be stuck. Maybe this challenge will help. Short term goal is 10lbs by May 1st long term is 20 lbs.

Hello, I'm in gear to complete my long term goal of going from 247 down 147. I read Spark Guy's mini-book and it really help me see how the 10-minute streaks will help me reach my goal.

Thanks Spark Guy!

Hello,

My name is Susan and I just joined this challenge and team in order to get me up and moving. Am working to get back to exercise after dealing with arthritis in my right knee and a fall that injured my left knee in June.

Was working on losing weight for my son's wedding this past October. The weight loss never happened and now I dislike seeing the pictures of me from the wedding.

My 60th bday is in July and I do not want to weigh what I weigh now so this is my first step.

Thank you.

Hi! I'm new to the team. Really trying to get back on track - I started working again last spring after being a stay-at-home mom for years and have had a really hard time balancing work, kids and family, and physical activity. But I need to do something and if I can force myself to make the time to do at least 10 minutes of anything each day, that's so much better than what I'm doing now. So here I am!

Hi I am new to this team. I have been exercising because I just completed my 5k walk. But I want to get into a better routine and I thought joining here and at least getting in10 minutes every day is better then doing it all at one time only 2 or 3 times a week. I live in Florence OR.
Married to a wonderful man, have 3 adult children, 10 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchilden and one step great grand child. My goals are to live a healtly and full life.

Hi I think this is a great idea. I have recently lost 20 pounds and I still have 100 to go. I have not been doing any exercise until this week so I am hoping that this will keep me on track.

Hi, I'm Icewynde.

I've been "streaking" since I first joined the Spark, back in July. First streak got up to 110 days before being interrupted by a trip, now up to day 45 of my second streak.

I think the 10 minute challenge is a brilliant idea of Spark Guy. I don't know how many times I've started thinking "I don't really feel like exercise, but I only have to do 10 minutes" and then once I get into it I do the whole workout. And I am so stubborn, that once I get a good streak going I just can't let it die!

Anyway, now its official!

Every day, in every way, I'm just getting better and better!

Hi! I'm 34 and I've always been over-weight. I had open heart surgery when I was 3 years old to correct a congenital heart defect. While my condition is stable, my cardiologist says my condition would be "perfect" is I weighed under 200 pounds. So I joined sparklepeople to lose weight and the 10-minute challenge to hold myself accountable to lose the weight.

Day 1 of my challenge. It is not about weight loss but more about feeling better, healthier and happier. Completed reading the mini-book last night and have done my exercises this morning. Being 60+ I have been down this road before. Plus I am a nurse so well aware of what good nutrition is and what can happen if you don't eat right and exercise. With the help of this Spark Team, I am looking forward to reaching my goals. emoticon

I'm new to this team and I think this is the perfect time of the year to make the 10 minute streak a challenge. It sounds like a good way to be accountable.

Step 1: Stop and think. Step 2: Take a deep breath. Step 3: Make a good choice.

Hello all. My name is Michelle. I joined SP in early October, but really just got truly motivated about a week ago. Still figuring out all the team things, but off to a good start. I used to be very active and had no problems with my weight until about 4 years ago. I just kind of lost myself somewhere after the divorce and all my concentration was on earning enough money by myself to support the kids and me. Now all the kids on their own or in college (just the college one left at home), so my goal is to concentrate on me and my well being. I have gotten off to a good start this past week with exercising and portion control. I have already lost 2 of the pounds I gained between signing up on SP and actually getting myself in gear. I look forward to making lots of friends with similar goals as I do. My goal is to lose 30-35 pounds. I am pre-diabetic and want to prevent diabetes. It is on both sides of my family and I know how devastating this disease can be. I look forward to meeting all of you and have a great day ! emoticon

I'm doing my exercises at home for now, but have joined the Y in our area, I'm going to visit and work with a personal trainer for a few times so that I can get in some strength training. New to all of this, just now feeling like doing something for myself for a change. So anyway my name is Rhonda, I am 53 yrs old and have had both knees replaced as of Dec. 02 of 2013. So striving to get this weight off so that when it comes time to retire, which is a long way off, I'll be able to enjoy the rest of my life.

Hi, my name is Colleen, and i live in Grand Rapids Michigan USA .. i am 58 and have been part of Sparkpeople since Jan of this year . .. i have lost a total of 70+ lbs, i am almost to my goal of "big" goal of 125 (everyone keeps telling me this is not doable for my age, but i am going to give it a good shot) .. if i can maintain where i am, which is close to 130, i will be happy happy happy, but 125 (the middle of my normal BMI) is my ultimate goal ...but i want to build more muscle, core strength, and tighten those abs (LOL) and work on balance (getting 'old, i mean, experienced)... so since i have been doing some kind of fitness everyday for a long time now, i am going to be adding strength training as one of my streaks (this will be a 3-4 times a week streak), in addition to cardio everyday,, i do about 60 -90 a day now, but will resolve to do some kind of cross training too to keep my streak of at least 10 min a day going .. so there it is .. and have a Spark'tacular day !!

Day 3 for me. I've been on Spark People before but after starting a new relationship I totally slacked, and as a result I've gained 20lbs! I'm doing this challenge to get myself back into the swing of things. I've also been working a desk job for nearly two months so my activity level has really fallen, so I'm probably in the worst shape of my life. Yikes!

Anyways, I'm 24, live in Canada, and have about 40lbs to lose. I'm always looking for new buddies so stop by and say hi!

Cheers!

This is emoticon for me, getting started on this challenge!
Tonight I'm reading the entire free mini-book [I'm half way thru, but I actually have The Spark book-its literally sitting right next to me, lol, I was already into chapter 2- reading through it again for the 2nd time] but when I saw the Spark Guy's email about the shortened mini version on The Spark- and FOR FREE- I was so thrilled!

I actually have been on sparkpeople.com for several years! I lost close to 80 lbs after reading The Spark and becoming very active on this website so I know for a fact that this program works! But like with everything in life we have to stay motivated and stick with it. Unfortunately I've again been battling some personal issues that make me stumble off my good path and healthy lifestyle.

Its the same ol' story... Stressful job, personal issues, family issues, health issues, and the dreaded return of anxiety and depression.. Not to mention a sleeping problem- sigh. Well, anyways, I lost my focus. I let myself get swallowed up by everything and now here I am with about 30 lbs to shed.

I'm not negative about this though! I'm looking at this in a positive light! For one thing, instead of 75-80 lbs to lose, all I need to lose is 25-30! Also, since I've done this I know some great strategies that really work! I mean, I use to give my spark buddies helpful tips and advice, so the knowledge is there! Last- but not least- I know what derailed me before. I know the pitfalls more painfully clear than ever before, from experience, and I will use that knowledge to help myself, my team, my spark friends/buddies as well as my family/friends to stay on track [as well as to get back on track] from now on!

I'm super excited about joining this challenge- I feel like its exactly the inspiration I needed to get me excited about my adventure, my LIFE again!

Please, stop by my spark page and add me as a spark friend! I can't wait to make new buddies and as I watch myself get into shape and reach my own goals, to also get to watch my spark friends [and anyone else possible] to reach theirs as well!!!

I've been with SP for a while. I joined way back at 252 lbs. Right now Im sitting at 191.5.
48 yo with grown kids, a supportive hubby, and four cats that were rescued when their momma died and so its never a dull moment. LOL

I joined this forum to give me that NUDGE to do SOMETHING everyday. Im normally good at exercising once I get going - but lil nudge at reminding me to get off my bottom... is always a good thing.

My goal - at least 10 min PER DAY... I'm working my way back to 187 (my all time low) and this is my first goal only. But its important to me. (note: I fell off my bicycle and jacked up my knee - knee surgery was painful - just saying) anyway....

Thanks to my current exercise - I was able to climb the small hill at the Renaisance festival yesterday with GUSTO.. several times! I wasn't even out of breath and even surprised my husband. Guess all that walking/biking mileage did help me!! (g)

Hugs from Houston!
Rhonda

I was a member with Spark a number of years ago and was doing well, but then I quit sparking and have also gained my weight back. This time it feels different, my husband is watching his weight too, and were both working on healthy eating habits and he has started walking with me.

I joined sparkpeople a few years ago while I was doing WW, but got super lazy with both and just stopped focusing on my weight loss. I've gained back everything I lost and then some and am finally at a place where I can make this a focus, but I won't do it by myself. I've tried and I always find a reason to skip my run, or to stay away from the pool. I'm definitely someone who does better when I have other people to hold me accountable.

Hello, Teammates,
I've been using SparkPeople for a couple of years, and I'm losing the weight. I need the accountability of a team, though, and this one will help keep me going. Even on days I'm not excited about exercising, I'll use the 10 minutes to get me started.

I want to lose weight to be healthier and be more pro-active in managing my health. I know exercising is good for me, but some days I think I'll do it tomorrow. I need to do it today.

Looking forward to success,
Madonna

After a life time of sporadic exercising and yo-yo dieting I am feeling completely overwhelmed with all of it. I really want to try and separate fitness from food and learn to enjoy it as an activity I do just for me. Being the heaviest I ever have exercise has become hard, and for the first time there are things I just can't do because of my weight and fitness level. I am hoping to use the next month to learn that it doesn't matter if I can only do 10 minutes as long as I do them.

Hi, my name is Carmen. I have been doing SparkPeople for a few months now. I decided to do the 10 min. per day challenge because I want to be consistent daily. I have been doing weight training for about six months, and have recently started swimming three days a week. I like walking, but don't always have time for it. I work nights as a home care nurse, and also care for my husband and mother who are both disabled. So finding time to just do something for me is sometimes hard.

Hi! I'm Cassie. I'm 29, but I'll be 30 at the end of the week. I have a 7 year old son and a great husband. I've been doing okay with the nutrition part of this lifestyle change, but for some reason I've quit exercising completely. Hopefully this challenge will help me change that.

Hi! I'm Sue, and I'm 68 years old and live in Portland, Maine, US. I retired in January, got rid of a ton of stress, and am gradually losing weight. I've struggled with my weight all my adult life. I already exercise regularly, so am using the daily 10-minute challenge to regularize my t'ai chi practice, which is very helpful to me but for some reason I haven't been doing regularly.

I really like the idea of only committing to 10 minutes a day.

Sue

Hi, I am Becky. I've been Sparking for a smidge over 2 years. Love it here. I am working on a consistent exercise streak, one of planned exercise every single day.

Hello, my name is Ann. I am 60 years old and have been struggling with weight loss for 35 years. Otherwise, I have no major health issues, for which I am grateful. I have been an on–again, off–again SparkPerson for a number of years and this time, I have been back for about two weeks. I am feeling very motivated! emoticon

Hi! emoticon
My name is Leanna and have been Sparking for several years but need this new challenge to keep me on track ... especially on busy days when I cannot fit in my usual hour walk. I CAN fit in 10 minutes which will keep me on track instead of feeling like I messed up and fall off the wagon, starting a binge. I am learning to not be al "All or Nothing" thinker! I am looking forward to a L-O-N-G exercise streak!
