I am Amanda. 6+ years ago I lost 30 lbs using sparkpeople. Over the past 5 I have gained it back and had another kiddo, but she is 3 now so no excuse there haha. I have tried several times to start something but i never made it far. I am focusing on small goals to start and one is a 15 min yoga routine a day so this seems like a great place to stay on track.

Hi, I'm Marilyn
I am joining this challenge to get back on track with good fitness and nutrition habits.
I got off track while our kitchen was being remodeled. It is pretty well done and soon
I will have a new kitchen to cook healthy meals.

Hey I'm Misty, and I'm here to get myself consistent with exercise. No excuses. I was hoping to lose 52 lbs last year and ended up only losing 2.4 lbs. I am also working on eating and drinking better as well.

Hi, all. I'm Lynn from Michigan. Am doing a Biggest Loser Challenge, but am not losing big, because I am not consistent with exercise. I'm retired, so my age doesn't help me in losing either. Hope this will!

Hi! Joining this challenge was my SparkCoach assignment for today - I am committing to 10 minutes of exercise per day. I usually do more, but on the days that I "don't feel like it" I tend to fall of the exercise wagon. 10 minutes it is! emoticon

Starting today! Hope everyone is well. I live in Massachusetts and have been struggling with fibromyalgia for the past year. One problem I have is that if I overdo it I can be in pain for days, so figure 10 minutes a day is a good goal. I am married and have 2 children, a son in college and daughter who is 12. Have a great day everyone.

Hi, All emoticon
My name is Kerry, but I am better known as Trouble (long story).

I joined this challenge/team, but I'm not sure it's quite what I was looking for. I already walk at least 60 minutes every day (thank you FitBit) so I was looking for something to help me start and be accountable for doing some strength training. The bat-wings under my arms are not quite enough to fly with, but they will be if I don't start doing something.

I also understand from my reading that I shouldn't be doing strength training every day. Is there a way to set this up to track doing strength training 3 days/week?

Hi Everyone,

I joined the team 8/19/16. And got overwhelmed by to many teams. I have cut myself to just what I want to be in and do. This is my way of making sure I am committing to at least 10 minutes of exercise each day.

emoticon Just joined this team. I've been a member of SP since January 2008. I'm retired. I'm a wife, mother & grandmother. I've been attending a nearby fitness center for over years now and have been able to develop an exercise routine that I can really stick to. It's become 2nd nature for me to go there regularly.

Hi, My name is Susan. I am a 68 yo retired RN. Since being retired I have walked 3-5 miles several days a week with my DH. He is now unable to walk with me, and I haven't found a replacement for that exercise. I can't walk alone for safety reasons and don't have a car. I previously joined group classes but never liked any exercise except walking. All suggestions are welcome. I have limited flexibility and DJD.Thank you.

I did spark before, and had some success. But then life got really hectic, and I had to focus my attention elsewhere. I joined back because, to make a long story shorter, SP works. This time, I am attacking things with a different mindset. I am a role model, so I am going to be a POSITIVE one!

Hi, team! My name is Mel. I've been on SparkPeople since January this year, but I didn't really get into until the last 4 months. I have several health conditions that make exercising a tough proposition. The worst is chronic pain and fatigue. I'm doing much better recently, but I still have my days. Today is one of them! Lol Other things that keep me from exercising as much as I'd like are that I'm a college student, I'm looking for work, and I'm preparing to start a great volunteering opportunity. I'm looking forward to being part of the team! :)

Hi all. I found sparkpeople via a fellow member of my weight-loss group, the MOVE program from the VA. Sparkpeople really helped me keep on track to get down to my goal weight, and now it helps me maintain my weight. Now that I've achieved that, I do need to be more diligent in making exercise a part of my life most every day. So thank you for this challenge!

Hi everyone! I'm Jamie. I have been back (after a hmmm 7 year break?) on SparkPeople for 25 days. This time it seems my whole mindset on getting healthy is different than any other time I "tried" to lose weight/get healthy/etc. I am finding that making sure I stay accountable is the biggest thing for me (and to not make excuses for no time, which has always killed my efforts before). So far it's been great - tracking daily, eating right, exercising, spending more time with the family - all super important to me.

Anyway, can't wait to get to know you guys!

Hello everyone! I joined this team to help inspire me to get up and workout everyday. I joined Spark People 11 days ago and have completely changed the way I eat and I now exercise everyday when I used to not exercise at all. I came to Spark People after my Dr. told me my cholesterol was extremely high and my blood pressure high. That finally woke me up and I decided then and there I was going to change myself for the better. I was a complete couch potato who ate only junk food. Now I eat healthy meals and snacks and as of yesterday took my first 2 mile walk!

I joined this challenge as while I haven't found it that difficult to do 10 minutes a day, there are still days where I think "nah" and I think this might be the motivator I need.

My exercises of choice include:
- walking my dogs
- chasing Pokemon
- brushing my horse
- riding my horse
- water jogging

I want to add in some strength training. As that's where I think I'm lowest.

The thing I like best about the 10 minutes a day is that I almost always choose to extend it. But on the really busy days I can get to the end of the day and think "Oh no! I forgot to work out" and then go out and walk my dogs for 10 minutes and be done.

Hi everyone!

I joined this challenge because I tend to have an all or nothing mentality when it comes to working out. I'm a runner and an aerobics instructor (and still have about 30 pounds to lose to get into my healthy range), so to me a workout needs to be a good hour long aerobics class or a four-mile run. If I can't fit those into my day - and I truly do have a couple days a week where there is literally no time for me to get in 30 mins of exercise - then I tend to throw in the towel. Which means that, when I started my new job two weeks ago and it was too hot for me to run in the afternoon/evening (I'd been running in the cool morning weather) I went a whole week without exercising. That's a really foolish mentality to have and I'm trying to break myself of that tendency. So here I am!! Even 10 minutes a day is a success!!!

Hi Everyone! I have made much progress since my 50 days, in way of learning and using this site. Each day is it's own. Down 5#.....can see results in inches as well as pounds. I decided to not focus on myself and focus on being healthy for God. I made a contract with God and it would be unthinkable to break it. So, I wish great success for us all. Happy Saturday!

Giving God the Glory.

Hi,
My name is Karen. I am in my 50s and am diabetic and gluten intolerant. Have limited ROM due to back and neck surgeries and injury to my spine. Had a very big wake up call this spring. I want to live many years yet and I intend to do that with my whole body. Moving is a big key to this happening. I look forward to the next 4 weeks with you.

I am taking this challenge because I need to push forward & "down the scale". I do a lot of cardio while teaching water aerobics and swim lessons. I am challenging myself to do at least 10 minutes a day of cardio.. JUST FOR ME! I am looking forward to pushing myself to get this done. My name is Dawn. I am not new to Spark People. I joined in May 2009 & have been active ever since. I lead a couple of spark teams, including a BLC team. I LOVE Spark People and have made a lot of friends here. Thanks for letting me be a part of this challenge.

You can do it this time! Stick with it :-)

I am re-introducing myself. I joined, but left - and now I'm back.

I am a 50ish lady, with a goal of 145 lbs. I walked for 26 minutes today and just re-started this, this week.

I live in South Dakota.

Hi all! I joined the challenge to give me an extra incentive to do something, even a small something, every day.

Just did a spark video and I'm feeling sweaty but great.

Hi!!
Been on Spark a while, used to be real good with working out and weight training! health problems set me back 3 yrs. I've not only gained weight, but can't seem to get back into a routine of working out! So in addition to my Pt, I'm gonna do 10min extra! Does working out on commercials count?

My name is Cherie, I'm gonna be 65 in Oct. Happily married. Have a Cochlear implant, retired hairdesigner.

Have a great day! Looking foward to meeting you all!

Cherie

I was on a medication, with a side affect of weight gain. Doc said I can stop taking it. I,ve cleaned up my eating, am walking, I did this before, I can do this again!
Spark will help!

Hi I'm Johnna and I've been a couch potato but I am determined to move and keep moving. I have trouble with some exercises because my knees hurt real bad but I started doing water aerobics and looking for some low impact exercises I can do until my knees are strengthened. Anyway the 10 minute exercise per day has been my weakness so I am hoping this team will help.

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. -Philippians 1:6

I am Misty and I have found this group, and I'm finally getting used to getting up and moving. I'm wanting to bet outside and moving and not stuck in my apartment cleaning it. I hate cleaning. Especially when its an every ending battle trying to meet unmeetable expectations. Yes there is a thing as to clean and its showing its self in my health and I am starting to get sick from it.

Hi ....... emoticon
My name is Jan and I'm often called 2B here in the Spark world.
I have been with Sparks over four years now but I like teams that are active and people interact .... Plus, it is just a good habit to start with ten minutes ........ and when I do ten leads
into more ....... This looks like an inviting place to be with challenges.
I love to write inspirational and motivational blogs here at Sparks and I do look forward to getting to know other members on this team..... emoticon

Hi emoticon I'm fairly new to SP, and Spark Coach prompted me to join this challenge so I decided to go for it.

I've been working out about 5 days per week at my apartment complex gym, and I'd like to start getting in some activity every day (doesn't have to be the gym, but its convenient for me).

I used to be in a wheelchair so this is very exciting for me. Little by little I started moving and moving more, then eating better and better. Last year I was able to ditch the wheelchair finally but still had mobility issues. Slowly but surely, I've made progress. Now I'm doing about an hour per day 5x per week at the gym and can walk for an hour on the treadmill.

I never thought walking would feel so freaking good, lol. Before the wheelchair I was one of those people who hated exercise. Now it makes me feel so... alive. emoticon

I will run someday. Maybe not fast, maybe not far. But I will be able to run again.

My name is Linda, I started out at 230 lbs. & now I weigh 192 lbs. At one time I was down to
189 lbs. I don't know what happened. I can't figure out how you can lose weight doing only
10 minutes of walking every day, I wish someone would explain that to me! I hope everyone
has a Marvelous & Blessed Monday!

gives me strength. 4:14 Even so, you have done well to share

New to the team. After 2 weeks of SparkPeople, I am flagging a little and like the idea of committing to small daily goals that I can sustain over the longer term. :)

I'm back here at the 10-minute daily team because I can't seem to get control over a recent gaining streak. Time to go back to basics. I think I need to use the 10 minutes for high intensity training. I also have to get my eating back in control!

Hi, I am a 65 year old grandma who needs to get at least 40 pounds off her body that has rheumatoid arthritis. 10 minutes a day is better than nothing and I seem to always have something else to do before I exercise and then I don't get it done. From now on i am going to do my 10 minutes when i first get up before I think of something else to do. emoticon

Some day I am going to be thin enough to feel comfortable tucking in my shirt and wearing a belt.

I take my name from my best ever big beautiful and smart cat. Hm, I rather like that description. I am a recovering bookaholic. For the last five years, I've emptied and gotten rid of one bookcase a year. You can guess what I'd rather do than exercise. I live in Florida where I melt in the heat for half the year and suffer from allergies much of the rest. That puts a damper on the one activity I like, walking in our many local parks.

My current habits leave my weight loss efforts stagnating. I'm not gaining, but I'm not losing. "Nothing changes if nothing changes" is my new motto.
