I was just recently approved for Medi-cal, so I can set up getting a Doctor, but finding a good Doctor with Medi-cal is going to be tough. Not many around here take it other than clinics that treat general medical issues. We'll see how it goes. Once my fiance is approved for his medical coverage from his job, we'll find out how much to add me to it. My other option is the ACA (Obamacare),
I also have a 7 year old son, that I homeschool, so that keeps me really busy.
Hi Nancy, it's nice to meet you. I'm Meg and I live in Florida. It sounds like you've got a plan to lose weight, that's great! I imagine moving was stressful and painful. Keep us posted on how you're doing.
This weather, even in Florida, is hard for me and the pain has been bad so I've only been able to exercise about 1x a week. But I eat right all week and move by doing housework, but I know it's the exercise that will make the difference for me. I found some supplements that do help some so I have hope.
Good luck! Meg

Welcome! I applaud your desire to manage your fibro symptoms without medication though I deplore the reason for it (no insurance). Will Obamacare allow you to find affordable insurance that will give you the coverage you need? Even without medications, having a good doctor is important.

Hi Nancy and welcome to the team. We are glad you joined us and hope we can be supportive of you as well as learning new things to help our situations from each other. Even though we all have the diagnosis of FM plus, we all have different ways of dealing with the pain. Take care and get as active as you can!! Pulling for you from MN but currently a winter Texan.
Slow & steady makes a winner of us. Even if we hit pitfalls, get up. Know that a new day is right around the corner. Try to be all that you can be. Work at it a day at a time.

I live in Missouri and have been fighting Fibro and Chronic Fatigue for years before I was diagnosed, which was 3 years ago. I've been on a yo-yo of weight gain and loss and now am at my biggest as well. I have been seeing a physical therapist for foot issues and have realized what poor condition I'm in now. I've always worked on my feet and managed my weight, but it's difficult for me as well. I take ibuprofen, muscle relaxers and hydrocodone to manage. I feel for you not being able to work out anymore, because exercise can help immensely.
Glad to have you here. I haven't been active, but I will be around, as I need the support more than ever.

Hi Nancy, glad to meet you. I live in Michigan and the cold is bad on my Fibro. My new Dr. at our local clinic has decided that I no longer need my stronger pain pills and my old dr. should never given them to me. So my pain has been getting some what worse. we will see. if you look under the video section on Sparks you will find chair exerciser's from stretching to cardio. Good luck to you and hope your days get better.
Hi! Welcome! It sounds like you are having some rough times. I hope things get better for you soon. Motrin works for me but I take it with a muscle relaxer so I'm not sure how it does on its own. I too am at my highest, well I was LoL.
There will be an answer, let it be.

Just want to introduce myself. I'm Nancy, and I live in California. I was diagnosed with Fibro (and Palindrome Rheumatoid) in the fall of 2012. I lost my job shortly after and so my insurance as well. I have been managing without medication for almost a year. Unfortunately, after going off the meds, I started gaining weight that I had lost the previous year, and am now at my largest ever. I'm not sure of my weight, as I don't currently have my scale. We just moved and everything is in storage. I got my measurements down though.
Before Fibro, I was very active. I had a very physically demanding job, and I worked out regularly. What clued me in to something being wrong was me being unable to workout without pain and fatigue. I really miss working out. I try to move every day, but it's hard.
My goal is to lose the weight and to continue to manage my symptoms without meds, if possible. I'm happy to have found a fibro group with healthy goals and I hope this will help me stay on track.
