It's rather nice to see someone without this burden trying to help... so many times we get put down or misunderstood, because we look normal. Kudos for trying to help!

If you click on the team name at the top of this page, it takes you to a list of discussion topics. Pop in anywhere... the people here are terrific!

Welcome aboard!

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Life comes in specific increments, which we receive as a gift of one moment at a time. That's why it's called

Eileen, thanks so much for those tips. I will send that link on to my daughter, -she may already be on it I don't know. She has tried so many things, and as you say, some work for a while some don't. Its a real problem.

Hi CLEARSTREAM. Yes, this is not a fun disease and we all have a lot of learning that we have done or need to do. If you go to the forums and look for article posted there, you can find a lot of information. I also belong to the Fibro friends (link below)

There is even more forums in the reading room to help us work though the chronic pain. All we can do is learn how to treat it, what works best for each individual, etc. Also look at the exercises that as gentle stretching. I also use every other week tissue massages. Be sure the therapist is one that knows Fibro and how to work with it as well. Ice can sometime help with the pain especially after exercising or a massage. Hope some of this info can help in the mean time while waiting for the CD which sounds rather interesting. Good luck!!

I can give you something that can help her get some recuperative sleep. I have a CD called "The Sleep Secret Audio". I found it while researching something for a friend who has really bad Fibromyalgia and couldn't sleep more than 2-3 hours a night.

I burned a copy and gave it to her, and she now sleeps through the night. I'd be happy to send it wherever at no cost if you're interested. I'm now searching for anything for the chronic pain she lives with every day.

If you'd like the CD, just provide me with an address where I can send it, and it's a go!

Don

Hi Don, thank you for your kind response. Her (she is 37) symptoms include the following:
Chronic tiredness (she has given up on sleeping pills as they make her drowsy the next day and she is still holding down a full time, very competitive, job).
Aches and pains all over her body but worse in neck and legs.
Extreme tenderness when physically touched.
Frustration (she still surfs and runs, still goes to the gym every other day, but she used to do competitive surfing, and take part in running marathons, she simply can't do that any more. As it is, she is often almost crippled when she comes out of the water after surfing, she refuses to give it up).
Migraine headaches.

Clearstream,
I hear you and know your pain; there is nothing more frustrating than a sick child that you can do nothing for, regardless of their age. The people here will share everything they know with you, and if I can shed some light, I surely will. If you tell me about her symptoms, I'll share what I know, OK.

Best,
Don Lombardi

I have joined this team to learn how best I can help her. She has been suffering from this for the last 3 years and has learned all she can about what to do to ease the many symptoms. She is not overweight and lives in South Africa. Through her I have learned quite a lot about this terrible condition, but I am always on the look out for more ways to help her. I will pop in to this forum everyday to see if there is anything I can feed back to her. Meanwhile I wish all you guys all the best, peace and happiness.
