WHOA-MOMMA, YES, that is me... about 5 yrs ago. I have a friend who was studying for his photography license, and I needed some good head shots and so on for the independent films I was working on at the time... he makes EVERYONE look good! LOL
I have to admit, that one is my favorite... and I don't look THAT good every day--I WISH! Miss Vanity, look out! LOL Kathy

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Hi I was diagnosed with Fibro and RA about 2 years ago. I had symptoms 5 years prior to that. I have 2 daughters with Autism so I have huge stress levels that leave me tired a lot. I have been a food binger for years which makes my Fibro/RA symptoms sooo much worse. I am haven't binged in over 3 weeks, I have been trying to eat better (except for the hot dogs today :) I take vitamins and supplements and I'm seeing a little improvement. I try to walk when I can and I use my "me time" to interact on Sparks. It has been an encouragement. I'm glad I found this team!

Thanks for the nice welcome! I do have access to a therapy pool near by, and an IHSS person (In Home Supportive Services) that drives me to appointments. I don't drive because I take pain meds daily. I understand what Mindy says about feeling like a hermit, and finding it hard to agree to a routine outside of the home! I have a lot of "pajama days" lol! My Doctor has told me that I can indeed do water exercise. I just need to brave-up and put my ex-bikini body into my size 18 swim dress! Walking is the worst exercise for me because my Achilles Tendons are weak and swell with pain - even just walking my kid to the bus stop daily can cause a flare-up.
Well, I'm gonna add all of you to my friends list, and I'll keep reading to get to know my way around this team.
Kathy, it that YOU in your Avatar Picture? That's a gorgeous photo - like a Classic Hollywood Starlet! And yes the same can be said about Jammer123's Puppy! rofl
Sherileisa. and to our team. I have found, with my FM, that walking is sometimes difficult. But i get into the water when i have a pool available and I feel like a different person!! Also, you can do chair exercises and get a resistance band to work your arms. This can be done gently. I also have a stability ball and can do a few exercises with that. I was feeling good one day and decided to do ankle pumps. After about 5 days of it, I now have shin splints! I did some partial squats while hanging onto my counter in the kitchen and got muscle spasms right away. So, there is a lot that our muscles don't want to do!! Find what works for you. Water is the easiest and the most comfortable.
Mindy, I love your name as I named my daughter Mindy:):) She is now 35.
Slow & steady makes a winner of us. Even if we hit pitfalls, get up. Know that a new day is right around the corner. Try to be all that you can be. Work at it a day at a time.

My name is Mindy. I also have Fibro, along with hypothyroid, diabetes, severe back pain and depression. My doctor wanted me to exercise but told me the only kind I could do were arthritis water exercise. You should ask your Dr. if you could do that. I really fought it at first because of fear. But I have now been going for 3 weeks and I Love it. I had become almost like a hermit and it actually made me feel good and I have met new friends.
Welcome to the team. I hope you can talk to your Dr. about the water classes.

I'm a 51 y/o single mom to one adult daughter, and one preteen son. I was very active here at SP about 4-5 years ago then I was diagnosed with multiple illnesses, including Fibromyalgia, and now I've been on Disability for several years. Also, my son has behavioral issues that include Impulse Control Disorder, and Bipolar tendencies. He's been Hospitalized for rage and emotional issues several times since 2010. He's now in special-ed that supports his sensitivities, and we're in the process of finding the right medications to calm him down. We also have a strong network of therapists and counselors that work with us 2-3 times per week.
I'm sharing this with you so you understand the level of stress I deal with daily... Nevertheless, I am optimistic about life in general! My daughter recently lost 30 pounds! Her goal weight is just 10 pounds away. She looks GREAT, and I can tell how proud she is to be feeling healthier. I've been pretty much shut-down for several years, but my girl's success has inspired me to put more effort into my own health. My weight has been up-and-down all my life, but for me, passing that 200 lb mark on the scale (5 years ago) has felt like a life sentence. I need to let go of this false belief, and learn how to shine again.
I want to lose about 65 pounds. Because of my Muscular / Skeletal pain issues, and my Doctor's orders to NOT Exercise like normal people... I'm setting a goal to lose the weight slowly, like 4-5 lbs per month. It's taken me 5 years to get this fat and unhealthy. I figure 18 months of healthier eating and a greater focus on self-care is a reasonable goal that I can stick to ~ and SUCCEED! :-D
I'm here to get some good support and to make new friends. I'm also good at giving support too!
