Hi Melissa. Welcome again to the team. I am on disability but had to go throu that same court hearing process to get it. It took quite a while but the attorneys don't take the disability cases unless they are 99.9% sure they will win. I had carpal tunnel surgery right before I went to court and had my hand surgeon write me a note about it because I was convinced that if I showed up in cout with my arm in a sling, that the judge would think I was a faker! Sure enough, he did ask. I gave him the letter but he just glanced at it.thenice thing is that you get social security money from the day you applied in a lump sum but there is a two year period from the date you applied until you are Medicare eligible. You probably already knew that but I thought I'd share. Good luck!

Welcome, Melissa. Hopefully you can find answers in this group.

I went from full time employment to part time because of the exhaustion fibro brings. Luckily, I was old enough to retire, so I didn't need disability.

I have several friends who applied for disability and finally (after several years) got it. Don't give up. If you've been denied, get a disability lawyer and try again. And make sure you have a doctor of your own to validate your condition.

In September, when your job is over, you should be eligible for unemployment benefits. And not being able to find another job should just reinforce your need for disability.

Good luck,
Nancy

Hello. I'm Melissa, looking to lose weight and feel better. I do have to deal with fibromyalgia (nearly two years now), the rain and cold are the hardest times for me. Stress caused me to develop fibro and now I need to control my stress and my eating. I am not able to do what I want to do anymore, I have to make sure I do not overdo things - I am not saying anything that everyone else here doesn't already know and understand.

I have a weight loss goal of 160 pounds, that 70 pounds I need to lose. I hope that once I lose it, I will hurt less. I have heard that the less weight on your bones, the better you will feel. Is that true? Does anyone else find this to be true?

I take all sorts of vitamins and supplements daily. I have anxiety and severe panic disorder so I am also taking two medications for that. The pain makes my anxiety so much worse, I fear the pain, I fear waking up in the morning and being in pain.

I am trying to get on disability, the government doesn't feel that I am in enough pain and I am just find working. I do data entry and also medical billing. Sitting for more than a half hour at a time hurts me so much. The physician that disability sent me to said that I can work 4 hours a day as long as I am able to get up and walk around every 20 minutes. Really? What employer is willing to allow their employee to do that? Luckily I already had a job and went from full to part time when I figured out I couldn't do it and they are okay with me doing all this. However, the job ends in September. Then what?

I am looking for friends, supporters, anyone that can help guide me through this. Yes, that is a tall order but I am a very good person, will always be there for everyone on here because I believe that we can all work together to make our lives so much better and hopefully less painful.

Thank you,
Melissa
