Fibromyalgia doesn't just go away... sorry. BELIEVE me, I wish it did!...

but there are a lot of things you can do to help yourself function a bit better. The main one is to keep moving. Sure, on bad days, you slow down, but don't stop because NOT moving (ie exercise) makes the pain worse--and it lasts longer! NOT good...

Check out the discussions for ideas on how to cope...

And once again, welcome!

Thank you all so much for your responses! I feel very welcome and encouraged; I think I will learn alot from you all since I have given up for so long. The first Dr. asked if there was incest in my family, that we out here in the country were like the "Amish", didn't move out of our area and find new people. The second Dr. was too busy flirting with his secretary, he could have cared less about anything but getting a date. The third Dr. I went to was having a bad day, (had been to him several times and everything was fine), but this particular day he was so mean, he had me crying and I cried all the way home. He was so miserable and should have never talked to a pt. that way. I never went back. So I gave up on docs and just suffer, but if anyone out there has found that eating a certain way helps, i would be glad to try it. I keep thinking there's something I'm doing wrong, and if i could figure it out, it would all go away.

emoticon MAKEUPPRO! I'm Ruby and live in Washington state. It's true. Fibromyalgia can make us feel so isolated. That's why groups like this are so great. We have a place to learn and share with others who really understand. I was finally dxd in 2005 after many years of suffering. I'm so glad we have a wonderful place like this to go to!

You've certainly come to the right place!... we've all been there, in one way or another... If you click on the team name at the top of this page, it takes you to a list of discussion topics. Check out the Reading Rooms there, full of links to articles, lists of symptoms and related syndromes... and join in on the regular discussions too--there's a lot to offer, and a lot to learn. There's even a discussion thread where we just post fun things, like jokes or pretty videos and so on...

The best thing though is that you're not alone any more.

Welcome to the team!

Sorry for your frustration and pain. I really understand about docs not getting it. I finally found a fibro specialist in Houston who deals with auto immune dificiencies back in 2002 after my nice family practicioner told me 'its all in your head.'
Welcome to this helpful thread/group.

Good Health!

Hi: I am new to sparkpeople as of today. So happy to find a fibro group, desparately need people to talk to that understand the pain. Gave up on Dr.s, none could help, getting very depressed fighting pain all the time. Would love some friends to talk to; don't get me wrong, I'm not a person that is a downer all the time. Had fibro about 16 yrs. now, after getting Lyme disease and not getting the proper treatment.
