"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Life comes in specific increments, which we receive as a gift of one moment at a time. That's why it's called

Sarah,
Thank you for your kind reply. I'm not so much a binge eater as lazy. :) I tend to reach for the first/easiest thing when I'm hungry or when I feel my blood sugar falling. Peeling and cutting an apple feels like too much work on most days. A banana I can handle! I know I need to eat healthier things and watch my portions. That would definitely help.

I see you're also in a group for Christians with FM. Is that on this site? How do I find it?

Thanks again!
Viki

Welcome to Sparkpeople and the group!
I lost over 100 pounds here....but have gained a few pounds over the winter months so I am back dieting....
It is really hard for us fibro-ites....especially because meds can impact our weight...plus when we feel bad we often tend to comfort ourselves with food.
My first suggestion would be to find some things that you enjoy to use as rewards and also find things to do to keep you from eating.....anything that keeps you out of the kitchen...especially at night when most of us binge.
Hugs,
Sarah

Hi there! Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. I joined Spark b/c I not only need to lose weight, but I need to live healthier as well. I have several chronic conditions (won't bore you here), but the main one I deal with is fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed 20 years ago (when I was 18). Back then other drs. didn't know what it is! Now, it seems everyone knows someone who has it, but it's still not well understood, is it?

I've been on disability for almost 4 years. I used to be a HS English teacher and loved working with the kids. I'm now a mom to an 11 yo boy. He keeps me on my toes! My husband and I have been married for 16 years and I think he has finally started to figure out fm in the past 5 or so!

I used to love to garden, but can't do it much anymore. This realization hit home last week and this week when I tried to do a few minor tasks and was then laid up for the rest of the week. Ugh! I'd love to hear how others with fm deal with day-to-day things you do and how you do them with minimum pain.

Also, if any of you are trying to lose weight, how are you doing it. Every dr. tells me, "You know, if you exercised, you'd feel better!" The next one will probably get slapped, but I always say to them that it's hard to exercise when you're in major pain all of the time! I still don't think they "get" it. Oh well. Does anyone???

I'd love to make some new friends with similar issues on this site. Sometimes it's good to "talk" to someone who really knows what you're going through!

Take care!
