I think my Fibromyalgia started in my late-teens, early-twenties. I was having a lot of migraines around then plus my first 'bout with the flu. That's the first time I can remember I can remember having anything to do with it...plus something else associated with it that I can't quite describe which would definitely be associated with EBV/FMS, but I never got tested for mononucleosis at that time.

I have been going to a Physical Therapy Clinic for some months now and can say that - with the ups and downs that I have been having - I have been seeing positive results overall. This is, to me, progress! Wow! Along with finding a good chiropractor who is in my area, things are working for me!

I am inspired by your belly dancing, Haaladances. I have always wanted to belly dance but sadly could never seem to get the feel for it. Maybe still one day. I have enjoyed water exercises for a few reasons, and have often wished that I could find a place that I could afford to continue. It did me a world of good, so thank you for your inspirational words that I might continue. emoticon

It was providence that led me here to sparkpeople, where I found fighting fibro...which turned my life around. It first taught me that I was not alone; that I was not the only person who had these symptoms and these struggles. Staying positive is a challenge for me. This group has helped me do just that. I need to be here more for that. I have not been here in a very long while and I miss it. Staying connected is basic for me. Keeping up with what people are doing and using for for which and what helps me tremendously. The biggest problem I have is my insurance company, which does not work with me in approving the medication(s) that work best for me. So, I am stuck with settling for second-best. My pain specialist, however, is wonderful to work with for the most of rest of it.

Thank you so much again for your introduction, and your words of encouragement. Welcome to the group! emoticon

I took private belly dancing lessons once upon a time--and even performed at some Renaissance re-enactments! LOL

I couldn't keep up with it, though, too many other issues... though I do still use SOME of the moves when I dance around the house! LOL

I think you're going to love the team, they're really great!

Welcome aboard!

Hi everyone,

I saw your team listed on the community pages - I've been on Sparkpeople.com for several years, but never thought to check for Fibro teams here!

My Fibro seems to have developed from chronic Lyme Disease - three different episodes from 2008-2010.

While I no longer test positive for Lyme and am not bedridden like I used to be, the Fibro remains.

I just try to stay positive, and do what I can do with the energy that I have each day.

I see a rheumatologist every 3-6 months, and have prescriptions for neurontin/gabapentin and for mobic/meloxicam.

For exercise, I belly dance. I am an instructor, so I can modify the lessons to suit my energy level. When I get too tired, I walk around the class giving feedback and suggestions.

I also do water walking (not aerobics), which has been great for my joints and my waistline :P

Looking forward to hanging out here with you all
