Wow the last post was over 4 months ago. Where are you guys! I love jamie oliver and have been a fan of his since the naked chef. Right now is the perfect time to implement alot of his cooking since the farmers' market is overflowing with wonderful fruits and veggies. I DVR Jamie at home every night and try to find something in my garden to cook with because of him. let's get cooking!

Hello-
I'm Jenni and although it looks like this group is just about dead, I think a few of us could get it going again. Jamie is doing the right thing in the US and I have been watching him for years. I hope to see a few more people on here soon.

I too am SO happy to have found this team thru MSDESERTRODENT, I have wanted someone to start a Jamie Oliver team.
1st about me: I've been with SP for along time, but just gotten serious the past 4 months!
Now, about Jamie: I never knew anything about him until his Food Revolution Show! He & I have alot of the same feelings about food! Then, I started reading about what an amazing & giving person he really is! He actually puts his money where his mouth is & I admire that, ALOT.
Doesn't hurt that he's so CUTE!

Hi Everyone,
I am so glad I found this team. I love Jaime. I have watched him since his first time on food network.I think what he is doing here for our young people is a wonderful thing. Maybe if there was this type of education when I was young, I wouldn't be struggling today with my weight.

Well you are welcome ma'am! I love me some Jamie and I can't believe how quickly this team is growing! I mean less than a week and over 120 members now!

I'd encourage all of you to try some of his recipes though... so far, the one's that I've tried (and didn't mess up accidently) have been really good. So try some, take some pictures, post a blog, and then add a link to your blog in the Cooking with Jamie thread! It's fun!

I remember when I first heard about his show. I immediately posted a bog about it and spread the word on Facebook! I've gone to his website and LOVE the great recipe ideas. Best part about Jamie are the little HOW TO tips he gives. I never knew how to properly cut my asparagus until I read it on his website. haha crazy but true.

I totally love me some Jamie!! WOOO WOOO!!

Thanks for creating this team Cheryl!

I love Jamie Oliver - Have been following his career for a very long time and have just about all of his books.

His cooking shows are some of my favorites from the Naked Chef, to the European Tour, to his Jamie at home series. I love what he does. The Jamie at Home Seriers reminded me of growing up on a dairy farm in rural WI and how tasty and flavorful the meat, milk, fruit, nuts and vegetables were. Even the old smoke house we had where we smoked some of the venison each year - ring bologne and dried venison. It's like coming home.

Especially since I live in town now - major metropoliton area (suburb of Minneapolis) and work close to downtown Minneapolis. This feels like a temporary part of my life and hopefully some day I can move back to the country when I retire to do nothing but garden and oil paint.

We have created a fantastic flower, fruit and vegetable garden oasis on our 1/4 acre lot but it still isn't like being in the country.

I am working my way back down to a heart healthy weight again and a lot of this is attributed to sitting at a desk for 12 hours a day not eating properly.

I applaud everyone getting on the fresh food way of living and hope to continue to contribute for me and my entire extended family.

Tamara

i LOVE jamie oliver! he's amazing!

i don't have any of his books yet, but i'm still easing myself into this whole "clean eating" business. i'm gradually getting the super processed, high fat/sugar/sodium foods out of my house and buying more simple foods like fresh (or canned/frozen without a bunch of additives) veggies, whole grains, etc. no more hamburger helper in my house!

i'm also really excited to try gardening this summer - my mom usually had a garden when i was a kid, but this will be the first time i've done one on my own. so....hopefully it's productive! :)

Hi, I'm Airyn and I'm a HS teacher from Cleveland! I got addicted to Jaime through the Food Revolution b/c I wanted to see what he thought of school lunches. At my HS I cannot believe some of the foods the kids eat and what they serve in the teachers cafeteria. I now force myself to bring my lunch everyday b/c I gained weight even eating just the salads from here.

I am currently single so I don't cook that much b/c I hate cooking for just myself, so I am a big fan of simple foods, such as lean cuisines, salads or soups and sandwiches. I want to try and start cooking (I have the Hungry Girl Cookbooks and have only made 1 recipe) and I do want to try some of his recipes, especially the chicken stir fry. After one of the episodes I think that I am pretty much done w/chicken nuggets and chicken patties. I really want to start trying one new recipe a week, so I need to go through my current cookbooks and start a grocery list to see what I need to have. Wish me luck!

Hi! I'm a stay at home mom of a 4 1/2 year old and a 10 week old. I've always loved cooking. I've had a Jamie Oliver cookbook for several years now and have only tried TWO recipes out of it! That's just a crime. Recently I was thinking I need to start trying more new recipes...So I'll start with the Jamie Oliver book! Looking forward to getting and giving feedback on which ones are winners!

Hellaaaoooooo! Yay for this team supporting Jamie Oliver! I hate that some people are so rude to him on the show, and I really hope he doesn't give up!! I am totally rootin for JO and the Food Revolution!
Me- I live in Northern Ca too..I feel blessed to have all the produce available to me that is actually pretty affordable because I think I live closer to where it is grown. In fact my mom goes out and picks fruit, berries and the such to provide for my dad and sister. We even have fruit trees in the neighborhoods that are just hanging with oranges, persimons, apples, peaches, and orchards of nuts. I have 3 kids, 2 of which are in school and recieve free (is it worth it?) breakfasts and lunches. Since my kids have started getting breakfast from school in addition to the free lunches, I have notice more fat on their bodies. I know that they are growing children, and kids usually do put on a little more weight just before a growth spurt, but I am still worried about them eating foods that are caloricly dense but not as nutritious. My son in particular has really bad and increasingly more often, junk food cravings now.
Diabeties runs in the family too....we do NOT need to go there, if I can prevent it.
I am 32, and need to loose about 60 lbs. myself. I would love to try JO's recipes for my whole family. I think he is reasonable in how he thinks we can change our eating habits. I saw the Food Revolution and he still let the kids eat white tortillas in thier meals. I think he is making some comprimises to ease the transition to better eating for the kids in the schools. If it was me serving kids, and serving what I thought was the best, I would've served whole wheat or corn tortillas. JO's lunches looked good to me, and I think I can learn a thing or two from him. He is a handsome guy, but I asked myself this question "if Jamie wasn't cute, would I still watch the show, and root him on?" the answer is "YES!" His compassion for people really shows, and he really cares about our children, and is willing to put up with all the crap the adults of the town are giving him. Kudos to J.O.
Are we going to pass recipes around this team? Is it ok to do that? I dont' know If I can buy the books, but I think there is a link on the abc.com page where you can watch the Food Revolution, and get recipes from JO. I am excited about this team...Hmm...whats for dinner tonight? Any good turkey recipes out there in the JO books?

Hello Everyone!

I absolutely love to cook and healthy, clean eats are the way to go for me. I think Jamie is such a good intro to people transitioning into cooking for themselves and I really appreciate his work to improve the foods people eat, especially students. I manage an independent cafe and in May I'll start working at the farmers market in our town. Next year I'm going to start my masters in education and hopefully teach some awesome 5th graders of the future about all the neat and delicious things they can make for themselves (in addition to, you know, math and reading :-)

Hey I'm Jessica. When Cheryl invited me to this team and started blogging about the recipes she was trying from his cookbook, I wanted to check it out. I kept meaning to watch his show but was never around, so I made it a point to DVR it this week and watch it later and I loved it. It was very moving and I love what he's trying to do.

Since I'm not the cook in the household (my b/f is haha!) I may not personally try any of his recipes, but I will try to get my b/f to cook some!

Hi!

I'm really excited about eating healthier, and have found that Jamie has inspired me -- and even my 10yo and 17yo sons! (They've both sworn off chicken nuggets, LOL.)

I'm celebrating my success so far by going on a bike ride with my sons today. It's sunny and 75F!

Hi everyone! I love cooking, I love watching cooking shows, and I think Jamie Oliver is an inspiration.

I'm a 38-year-old mom of 3. I work in Early Intervention.

I'm relatively new to spark people (1 month) and I love it. I've lost 35 pounds so far since the beginning of January, and I have 50 or 60 more to go.

I'm looking forward to being a part of this group.

Hello everyone! I just got the message to join this group and I can't resist a man with a sexy accent who can cook (and well)! But if there isn't a group for him already someone should make a group for Curtis Stone (he's fabulous). He's the chef for the Biggest Loser, he has a few of his own cooking shows, he sells cooking products, and he's currently on Celebrity Apprentice (which I mainly watch 'cause I like him and his beautiful accent). Look at his website: www.curtisstone.com/ ! If someone decides to make such a group and/or knows of a group, please let me know!

Hello everyone :)
My name is Kriste. I am 45, mom to twin girls aged 10, married 23 years this summer, I work part time and love to cook!
I let my girls buy school lunch twice a month as a treat and break from packing. My girls have always been good eaters, but I am bothered by much of what I see at the school.... my kids are in elementary school, but it reminds me more of the high school show: 2-3 choices for entree, many kids take sugary milk, starch and protein w/ the optional veggie/fruit sides ignored.

Oh, and I live in Maryland. Nice to meet you all!

OK - Here I am!! Annie checking in - thanks for the invite Cheryl!

Long Island, NY is where I hail from - born & bread & I barely go to the beach or NYC, so if you want any advice there...sorry, I don't have any! LOL I'm 37 & married 10 years and have 3 little boys (3, 5, 7)

I've seen JO (reminds me of JLo every time I read it - LOL) before on food channels and the like...and he's OK in the looks & accent department (I'm probably going to get snagged on that one right?)....but what I LOVE LOVE LOVE is the whole Food Revolution he's got going on!! Finally a voice (besides Chris Downie of coures) that people are hearing!!

Since on Spark, I've done a 180 in my own life and am currently taking prerequisite classes to get into a MS program in Nutrition...I want to become a Registered Dietician. So JO is right up my alley...and in that sense - he's waaaay sexy! Muy Macho! emoticon

Okey Dokey...gonna run..TTy'allL

I am so excited to be part of this group! As a teacher I see first hand the effects of poor food choices on the weight of my student. It broke my heart to see one of my new students this semester. One of her arms must be as large as two of mine put together and she's only in 7th grade.

I teach Spanish to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. On April 17, 2008 I joinced sparkpeople. Over the following year I lost over 35 pounds and felt so excited! The summer of '09 included a couple long vacations and then I started my new job. I have since gained back 12 pounds and am not happy about it. For several months I denied that how I ate was the problem but recently I have decided to take control of how I eat, when I eat and why I eat. Just over this past week my body feels firmer and I feel much more confident. I may not drop down to where I was (I've added at least 4 pounds of muscle mass) but I'm determined not to let the scale drive how I feel about my body. I'm also looking towards eating as natural or should I say "naked" as possible. :D

Hell-o everyone! WOW. Apparently there are a whole lot of Sparkers that LUVV them some Jamie Oliver! I'm so excited about this new team!

I'm watching the Jamie TED talk right now, and I posted a link to it in another discussion thread... check it out, it's really good! Oh, and then check out the thread about showing your support!

So much to do... I'm so excited about this team!

Oh, and I've already figured out what I'm cooking tonight. Another one from Cook with Jamie - Warm salad of crispy smoked bacon and Jerusalem articokes & fresh balsamic vinegar dressing. Umm... YUM. You had me at bacon Jamie.

Hi everyone! My name is Laura. I'm an almost 42 year old mom of 4 kids ages 5-10. I live in Orlando, FL, but grew up in Pittsburgh and went to school in Ohio so I feel like a midwest girl at heart!

I've been a big Jamie fan for years and was so excited to see his Food Revolution show on TV. My kids love the show as well and were forever turned off chicken nuggets after watching the first episode. Thank you, Jamie!

My favorite Jamie cookbook right now is Jamie's Dinners, but I've been using Food Revolution quite a bit, too. If I want the kids to try something, all I have to tell them is that it's a Jamie Oliver recipe (even when it's not) and they will take the bait.

Years ago in the movie, Super Size Me, Morgan Spurlock showed a school for juvenile delinquents in Wisconsin or Minnesota (i think) that changed their food program over to non-processed, all fresh, made from scratch foods, and the behavior changes in the kids was markedly improved. Ever since then, I've been very interested in seeing changes made to the lunch programs in America's schools. It will make a difference in our kids!

I love to cook and try hard to make the healthiest meals possible for my family every day. Sometimes time constraints and scheduling make it difficult, but I am trying to be better about planning my meals out a week in advance to avoid falling back on more convenient, less healthy options. Still not perfect, but I'm hoping to get better about it!

Love this group already!

thanks for the invite ABETTERCHERYL

Hi my name is Annette I'm from Southern California and I've been watching Jamie Oliver when he first started on the Food Network hmm about some 10 years ago or so.

Ok I'm dating myself. emoticon I'm 42 yrs old. I'm a Vegan my name fits because I'm trying to go vegan but the foods out there just don't let me. emoticon it's hard to make your own vegan meat alternative foods so I try my best to stay away from products with meat by-products like cheese and eggs. I don't have a problem with staying away from milk because I love Almond milk and now trying a new product made with coconut milk ( I love it).

I'm a animal lover so my main reason to going vegan is because how animals are treated and because I feel it's better for me.

I have one child a daughter who is 18 years old in college.

Oh my cats name is Rocky! emoticon

Because I love Jamie's cooking from way back I was excited to hear that Jamie Oliver was starting the Food Revolution here in the States.

Hello all! My name is April, I am 28 (very nearly 29)...married for nearly 7 years with two precious little girls. I live in the DEEP South (Mobile, AL) where we love to DEEP fry everything! I absolutely love what Jamie Oliver is doing and have been appalled by the amount of resistance he has encountered. My oldest entered 4K this year in a "real school" and even though it is private, the breakfast and lunch menus are terrible! She has taken food with her every school day this year and, unless something changes, she will continue to do so for the rest of her school days!

Jamie, America needs change!!! But he already knows this or he wouldn't be on his mission...he also needs to know that many of us actually WANT the change as well! Sign the Jamie Oliver Food Revolution Petition today (www.jamieoliver.com)!

HellOOOOO everyone! I'm Amanda, 30 years old from Toronto, ON (in case you couldn't tell by my username!). I love Jamie cuz of what he's doing with the schools - trying to bring healthy food in. Ok, ok, and also cuz he's cute. And has an accent. There, that's the whole truth!

ABETTERCHERYL thanks for invite! I am 45 in May and live in NM. I love the outdoors, animals and of course learning about nutrition and trying different kinds of food. I watched the first two episode of JO's food rev. and was hooked. I just haven't blogged about the young adult chef's yet.

I'm 49, formerly living in that lovely Northern California wine country area, but now I'm here in the Midwest. However, did you know that Indiana has a wine industry, and that it was established in 1803! Not a typo - eighteen-oh-three!

I love Jamie Oliver's accent almost as much as I love his passion for what he does. I could learn a thing or two from that man, and I intend to!

Thanks for starting this! I was looking to join a Spark Team for Jamie a couple weeks ago and there were none!

Anyway, my name is Jen and I am just over a month into Sparking! I am loving it. I really try my best to eat clean foods, but it isn't always easy. The bulk of my food is fresh though. I love Jamie Oliver and what he's doing! It disgusts me what those kids are eating!

Hi, I'm Bonnie, 29 years old, married and have three boys.

I definitely know very little about cooking, but am really started to get more interested in it. My husband and I are thinking about signing up for a cooking class at the community college next Fall.

I love Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. I didn't know much about him before that. I am really interested in educating people on nutrition and changing America's habits so that we end the upward turn of childhood obesity. I never realized how resistant people can be to being healthier.

Oh and I totally dig accents, so Jamie is great to watch :)

I am 45, married to my best friend Scott for going on 23 years, live in Yellowknife, NT CANADA and love Jamie Oliver.

Sadly, I have not seen any of the new shows but fell in love with Jamie years ago. We have two of his cookbooks but I am ashamed to say, I haven't tried one single recipe yet.

Before Sparkpeople (Aug 30/09) our dietary habits were atrocious and we are loving all the great suggestions and are trying new things all the time now.
Just this morning I had RACHEL_MAC's Eggs-n-oats and loved it (even though I forgot the milk - oops)! Mostly my cooking style is just throwing some stuff in a pot or pan and hoping it ends up tasting good. Which was generally a problem when it turned out really good and I couldn't remember what I put in it LOL.

Anyhoo, I think this is going to be a great team and look forward to actually using my cookbooks!

Cheers, Loreen

Hey! I'm a 24 year old Midwestern gal, married (only 6 months!), and my husband and I are both learning how to cook at the same time. We have come up with some pretty interesting flavor combos!

I'm all about trying to substitute in new spices and herbs and goodies like that instead of salt and pepper only. This can get yummy...or not so much.

I haven't ever watched Food Revolution or anything, but I love cookbooks and cooking shows and I'm all about learning more!

Hi! I'm Laura, I'm 33 years old and live on the east coast with my long-term (10 years!) boyfriend, our three cats, and one huge fish.

I've actually not seen Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution yet, keep meaning to watch it on Hulu, but I luv me some Naked Chef and I really like to cook.

Hello. I'm Tricia, I live in the midwest, and I wouldn't know Jamie Oliver if I tripped over him on the street. I need more monthly cashola to pay for cable... :(

However, I know just enough in the kitchen to screw something up or pull it off perfectly. I might have to check out this cookbook just to see what all the commotion is about.

In the meantime, my new gig has been exploring protein and creating new salad mixes. Yooves -- you said prunes and hard cheeses. I love dates and bleu cheese. NOMNOMNOM

I'm yoovie, 30 years old, single (although that might soon change to engaged to Jamie Oliver! - can you tell I'm excited!?) and I live in Gotham. I've been watching Jamie's new Food Revolution show on TV and its renewed my long standing love for this bloke. I bought Cooking with Jamie book a couple years ago and I absolutely drooled all over the pictures, as well as find a way to redefine cooking in my kitchen!

I think of cooking in two ways. My first kind of cooking is chemistry, the other is artistic.

I enjoy braving the frontiers of flavor combinations (right now my fave is dates and hard cheeses) as well as deconstructing classic dishes (you should see how I deconstruct a BBQ LOL).

My favorite thing to do is hack up recipes or mixes.

But I love love love cooking.

Hello! I thought we needed a little more sexy Jamie Oliver and I know from the blog that I wrote yesterday that there are a TON of his fans here on SparkPeople!

I'm Cheryl, 30 years old, single (although that might soon change to engaged! - can you tell I'm excited!?) and I live in the Midwest. I've been watching Jamie's new Food Revolution show on TV and I think I'm pretty smitten with this bloke. I went to the library yesterday and picked up his Cook with Jamie book and I absolutely drooled all over the pictures!

I can't say that I'm a great cook, but I absolutely love to cook though. It's fun and I seem to be good at it even though I don't really know too much about what I'm doing. I don't really like to make a recipe more than once though because I love to keep trying new things. Life is too short to try the same thing twice, right?

Anyway, enough about me, more about you please!
