Welcome ladies and it is never to late to get started. I won't give up on anyone in this team. Please feel free to add me to your spark page if you would like, because I do like to give out goodies to acknowledge your hardwork and even completing challenges. I am looking forward to 2012, and I am also going to be joining a gym right across from where I work. I figure if I am paying for the gym I am going to work out a lot more(at least I hope).
Congratulations Micki!!! I'm so happy for you! I also joined a gym this year and have a person trainer..only way to do it, I couldn't do it by myself. I just wish i had a personal trainer for when I am in the kitchen!!!
I haven't lost that much weight yet but am very determined!! How did you do it?

Hello everyone and I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and happy New year!!! My name is Micki Ward, I', 52 and I live in Texas. I'm just learning on how this works so please bear with me LOL! I am very excited to get a fresh start on my weight loss. I joined a gym and have a personal Trainer until Saturday. This was a really great way to get started for me. I started this on Nov 8, 2011 and my weight was 205.0 lbs, and I am 5 ft tall so kind of round. I weighed in yesterday after getting back to Texas from the Holiday with my parents and my weight is 200.0 lbs!!! I just want to say Thank You to Nicole for sending me all the emails and not giving up on me. I will try to stay in touch and hope to contribute with to the team. Thanks again and I am looking forward to the New Year!!!

OTHER INFORMATION YOU WISH TO SHARE: I have struggled with my weight since the day I was born. At the age of 1 yo, I weighed 30 lbs. I big baby rolls on my inner thighs. I was always embarassed to get on the scale in grade school because I didn't want any of the other kids to see that number. I started on Weight Watchers in 4th grade. I've always been in sports (volleyball and soccer) and my parents aren't significantly over-weight, yet I always struggled significantly. I joined Jenny Craig at the age of 19 and lost 54 lbs. A year later I started to gain it back. I then worked as a consultant at Jenny Craig, but I still couldn't manage to keep it off. Over the years, I've gained it all back plus 30! In the past 2 years I've been diagnosed with PCOS and a thyroid condition which have provided me with some answers about my metabolism. Low and behold, my hormones are out of whack! But my endocrinologist had also bore the bad news that I 'just have a sluggish metabolism' meaning I don't necessarily have to eat even the 1200 calories per day and I can get by. She also stated that I need to really focus on moving. It's been a trip and Sparkpeople is where I am now at in my journey. I will SURVIVE! I will be healthy!

I may not see a lot of change in my numbers, but I moved 7 yards of mulch and compost over my sloped yard the past couple of weekends and I can still move. That says a lot to me!

OTHER INFORMATION YOU WISH TO SHARE: I lost 120 lbs between June 2009 and December 2010. I have been maintaining my weight within a 10 lb range since then. I continue to set nutrition and fitness goals for myself to keep me working to becoming healthier and more fit. I became a member of the National Weight Control Registry to provide ongoing accountability and incentive to keep maintaining this healthy weight. In March of this year I started the SparkPeople Rookie to 5K training program and since then have become a runner and participated in six 5K events over the summer.

OTHER INFORMATION YOU WISH TO SHARE: I have been on this journey for a while. I will start and when I don't see changes right away I just stop working at it. I have learned losing the weight is not going to happen over night, and sometimes you are going to see a gain. Because muscle weighs more than fat, but still I know just how frustrating that can be. I know I have the misconception that I should see a loss every week, because I have watched Biggest Loser and that is what happens on that show. Well if I was stuck on a ranch, with limited food choices and able to work out 6 hours a day...then I would see a loss every week as well. But I am working Mother, and sometimes it is hard to even find 30 minutes to work out a day. Plus I love food and I don't want to have to give up food I love, just have to eat it in moderation. I know eventually I will reach my goal, but I am going to struggle along the way and that is ok. Just take it day by day, and don't let a bad choice keep you from finishing.
