Okay my name is Yvonne. I have been blogging for a while. I just started tracking my food and workouts. So I thought why not start posting here too. Where I can meet people trying for the same thing as myself. So a little bit about me. I am a mom of three boys, and wife for the last 15 years. WOOHOO. And I work selling shoes. And a little secret I hate shoes. I have never been a shoe person. But I can sure sell them. Anyway, I am 38 years old and I have been half heartily trying to lose weight for almost 4 years,but after my white water rafting trip it all changed for me. I saw thoughts pictures of myself and I was almost sick. I could not believe I had put on so much weight. So that day I put it in my heart and mind that I was going to work this plan on sparks with everything I have in me. I am doing things right this time. I am going to use everything at my figure tips to get to where I want to be in my life. And right now that is to be healthy and happy. And to go back and do that trip again with out feeling out of place. I have made myself three goal sheets. And I am making my picture of what I want out of life as soon as I can get myself some magazines.I bought my broad already. I am asking friends and family for old magazines. I am just waiting to get them from them. I have also started reading The Spark and I am almost to the part where I can start the 28 day plan. I am looking forward to that. I have learned a lot from that book in the last couple of days. It has got me more focused then I was before. I am happy with this. I did not mean to read a book But I was just so happy I had to share with all. Hugs to everyone. I hope to get to know you all much better.

Hello, I joined Spark in June but am just now getting around to introducing myself. I found the way to get here somewhat confusing. Hi it's me again and since 6/10/10 I've gained. I'm currently at 287. I cannot gain anymore, so I'm back. Coming consistently to the site is a real problem for me. It's hard to admit when you haven't done well. But it's the reality check I need. I can't do this by myself. i just keep failing. So, I am dedicating the month of September to me. 30 days of good healthy living. But, I'm starting now by putting some things in place for an easy Sept start.

Hello,
My Name is Joe, and I live in Michigan. Michigan is one of the most obese states. I am trying to lose weight for myself, but I believe in order to lose weight I need to change my eating habits. I also have a problem with staying motivated due to negative people. I actually try not to talk to people about losing weight due to the negativity. I hope everyone is doing well. Hi fellow classmates! I decided today is the day to get involved in my weight loss! That being said, I am making a concerted effort to actively particpate in all that is Sparkpeople. So hello to my team, and I look forward to going though this experience with you!

I have been stuck around the 185-189 range but would like to be in the 170's by my 35th birthday in September. I think that's a decent birthday gift!

Hi everyone, I don't even remember how I found Sparkpeople.com a while ago but here you have me. I'm trying to get back on track with my weight but I've been struggling. I had gastric bypass 6+ years and for the most part did really well and lost 100 lbs but in the last 3 yrs have gained 15 lbs and having a hard time loosing it.
I'm hoping to find other people in LB area who can give me ideas of how to get motivated again.

I joined at the end of May, but in the last couple weeks have fallen off the wagon.

Hey all! I joined about a month ago but never introduced myself on here... so I figure it's about time! I recently got engaged and am planning my wedding. I lost 30 pounds before joining SP, but I have about 15-20 pounds still hanging on before I'm to my goal. I thought this might be the kick in the rear I needed to get to my goal! I want to lose the last 20 pounds before I buy my wedding dress which I need to do by January, so I want to have it gone by November so I have some time to shop around. :-) So far I really like this site and it has some great tools and some very inspiring members! I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you!

Hi I'm Deanna and I joined over a month ago. However, I've been a little unmotivated ever since I found out my husband is deploying very soon. I'm not over eating, I'm just not eating the healthiest or exercising. I just want to spend as much time as I can with him. Buying a house doesn't help it either.
Any hints of how to do both?

I was at first lost for words after reading your post you couldn't had described "me" better!
I seclude myself from the world, and just study and try to parent my teenage daughter overwhelmed with stress from all sorts of places in my life "MAINLY" school and my eating habits during the semester(s)
My question to you is I'd like to know if I can ask of you your personal advice sometimes if needed?

I was referred to sparkpeople.com by a significant other who knew I struggled with staying on track exercising and wanted to lead my life more healthfully. I was hesitant from introducing myself in any group I had joined do to the fact I lacked consistency.
So far I have lost a few pounds and I have become excited more than ever to keep losing and build my self-esteem more importantly stay motivated and put my membership at a local gym to use!
Time management is going to be the key once I start college up again after summer break, I am going to keep logging in daily to read up on all the fantastic features on spark and all the wonderful members FULL of encouragement!emoticon

Heloooo, - just found this group the other day. I'm 28, female, and mind blowingly awesome.

Got fat in undergrad, lost about 40 lbs with the help of anorexia, destroyed my metabolism. Gained it back plus some during grad school due to horrible horrible eating and drinking habits, as well as inactivity due to massive studying.

Actually joined sparkpeople in 2006 after i had gained 15 lbs back once i started eating food again after undergrad, but never really cared enough to use it.

Not really actively looking for a job so I'm hermiting myself at home, working out at least an hour a day, but having a hard time restricting calories when I'm just surfing the couch all day. It's a trade off though, trying to avoid my triggers of parties and openings where booze, cheese and after-parties are a necessity. Hanging out with thin and lithe people is way depressing.

Lost about 10 lbs in the past 2 months, but getting frustrated about how slow losing weight the healthy way is.

Oh, and I'm really, really in love with tennis right now.

just was looking at email and found you glad to get help just a little about me I'm 62 retired driver and getting fat found sparks and looking for help. I'm 5'7" and 270 need to go down to at least 200 180 would be great but oh boy that seems to far away. I have been riding my bike with my 10 year old girl yup 10 , I have to admit a fat guy on a bike looks funny but you have to keep your sense of hummor. We live in northern Mn. so I just ordered a Schwinn 230 exercise bike to keep me busy in front of the TV and try to bern some of that stuf all over my body, and keep it off. But like I said I need help my wife is a small woman and never has any problem not like me any way. So hope to hear from all of you.

Hi Everyone! I decided to join spark people after hearing about it from a friend of mine. I think this is a great website to reach goals. I was going it alone with an Excel spreadsheet to track my food and using active.com to track my workouts but having it all together on one website is great! It's very user friendly as well. Hello, I am Rosalie, 39 years old. I have have been a big girl all my life. The past 10 years I have been at my all time high and since I joined SP I have lost 15lbs. I am trying things I have not done before and look forward to a better way of life. I have stopped drinking soda, which was a major change for me as I LOVED soda!!!!

I want to be a Fabulous 40 and don't want to live the next 10 years as a big girl. I do have a underactive thyroid and have found that the only way for me to lose any weight is to work it off. Exercise has never been my friend. So I am taking on this new challenge, changing my eating habits and so far it is working!!!

Keep me going you Sparkles! I will keep you going too! We CAN do this for a better us!

Hi Everyone, I just found this team. My Name is Tara and I'm 28 yrs old soon to be 29 come August 14th

I admit I joined sparkspeople a few yrs ago but then I gave up and walked away from it.. Now I am back and this time for good.. I Gotta lose this weight and I'm ready to change me and everything else in order to do it..

I became active again End of May beginning of June.. I have lost 16lbs since beginning of may mostly by walking and then began eating nothing but healthy goods in beg of June. I no longer buy junk or allow it in my aprt. I will admit I do still at times have the odd coffee or the odd soda when I'm out but I no longer have soda in the aprt and i Never had coffee in the aprt anyway.

I am on a huge lifestyle change and not just in the eating healthy and losing weight department either.. I am trying to be more positive, build my self-esteem and self-confidence and become more of a leader too and less of a follower. I don't just want to be in the background anymore. I want to get out there and get active some how in some way.. Not to be noticed but to become more healthy. Since I started walking and eating Healthy my depression that I apparently suffer from has dissipated immensely. I have realized also that I enjoy things I never thought I would..

I am waiting to get my bike so I can do more then just walk but even bicycle for about 5 minutes until I'm able to do more.. I just recently bought a used dumbell set. I remember my mama had one when I was a kid.. And I'm going to use it..

I have a long way to go in all the changes I want to make but I'm doing them slowly sometimes a moment at a time.. I know I can do it especially when I have Christ with me and so many people to motivate me and support me in my journey of a BETTER Life too.

Hi, I'm a working Mom of 2 (2 and 4) and am trying to work on losing weight without becoming neurotic about food. WW really worked for me because of the group, but with my job and kids I can't find a time to go back so I thought I would try an online community. My goal is to eat as if I am my goal weight until I become my goal weight....slow and steady. My biggest challenge is that as soon as I start recording my food, I stop eating entirely so I need to remind myself to eat *more*. Crazy!

I also have PCOS and my biggest goal is to go off my Metformin...something my endocrinologist says I should be able to do if I get to my goal.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you so we can share ideas, encouragements, and accomplishments.

I am trying to keep my motivation even though I don't seem to be loosing weight.

emoticon Emily! Glad you joined the group. I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism last month so am still just getting my head around what that means for me. I joined SP as a result of researching information online about thyroid issues and thought that signing up would help get me on the right track with my overall health & weight loss goals. I'm Emily, age 23. I am a newly graduated college student gearing up to go back for my master's degree this time next year. I am a CT certified elementary school teacher but the job search has proven to be fruitless right now.I am a specialty camp director for an outdoor center over the summer and I look forward to being outdoors and working with kids. I picked up The Spark in a book store after having seen an advertisement for it in Fitness Magazine.

I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 6 years ago. I had lap band surgery a year and a half ago. The weight came off easily at first but old habits die hard and I started to gain about 6 months after my surgery. I've been an avid exerciser since high school but I have found that in times of stress or extreme busyness, I tend to let exercise fall by the wayside.

I have been using the SP website over the past week and a half, using the nutrition tracker to keep me honest and the fitness tracker to keep me consistent. I'm here for motivation, support, and to share what I have learned with the rest of the Sparkers out there. This is the first time I've felt hopeful and excited about getting healthy in a really long time. Thanks in advance for welcoming me into the SP family!

I'm MaryAnn, age 50. I have three children and two beautiful grandchildren(ages 22 months and 6 weeks). I'm a registered nurse and I work full time. My weight is affecting my ability to enjoy many aspects of my life. I have been overweight for most of my life. I have tried many, many weight loss programs and products. I was blessed to read an article on Sparkpeople in a magazine. My daughter, who is also overweight, (and just gave birth to her second bundle of joy), and I decided to focus our efforts together and see how successful we can be using these resources. So far, so good....I plan to be on the sparkpeople site every day for a long time to come. It's an adjustment we are making in our lifestyle!! I know God will bless those people that have made this free site available. I thank Him and them for it!! Let's get healthy!!

Hey everyone my name is Nicole. I am a mother of 6 kids. So I always ask myself how could it got that bad. Two of my kids I didn't give birth to and they are 8 year old twins. In order there is Katelynn 8, Alexander and Brandon (the twins)8, Michael; 7, Ethan 6 and Hannah 3. I am really looking forward for this coming school year then all kids will be in school and then i can some how hit the gym etc.

I am still learning all the great things in SparkPeople so I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Margie, mother of 2 (19y & 23y). I started Spark People 4 weeks ago when I had to take my husband to ER and he was diagnosed with A-fib, rate 180-190. That has gotten our attention very fast and we have been on a healthy eating lifestyle ever since. He has lost 22 pounds (isn't is always that way? Men always lose faster), I have lost 8-10lbs. This sight is great and I am still finding more and more cool and helpful stuff. I haven't done the emailing other members but I want to. So this weekend this is my goal. Can't wait to get to know you all!

Hi all, I'm from Florida, 58 years old, married and wanting to lose 50 pounds to get in better shape. This first week, I lost 2 pounds. am getting used to the site, did use SP a while ago.

Hi, I started this journey on June 1st. I have lost 3 lbs as of yesterday. I feel good. I am learning to enjoy exercising. I am a wife and working mother of 2 children, ages 5 and 2.5. My husband and I are going on a trip in August and I hope to meet my first goal by then. I am about 18 lbs away. I know I can do it. I hope to be down to my goal weight of 140-150 by June 1, 2011. I am also learning how to eat healthy. I am learning how to listen to my body. I have been drinking water if I have a hunger feeling and if I still feel hungry, then I will eat. I have had 2 C-sections so I am trying to get my stomach muscles back to where they were (when I was in high school). I need to be healthy so I can enjoy my husband for a long time and my children and grandchildren.

I'm Kelly, I started about a week ago and I'll do my first weight check this weekend. So far I feel great and I expect to see some success despite a lack of progress for the past few years. I'm starting my second career after spending most of the past 15 years at home with my kiddos who are now 18 and 15. My son just graduated and I still haven't taken off that baby weight! Better late than never...

Hi my name is Jamie I am 24 years old. I am newly married with no children (except my 3 dogs and 2 cats). I have had weight problems in some form most of my life. I am up to my largest ever weight of 225 pounds thanks to being on/ going off of topamax for migraines. One day I was 130 pounds and bone skinny to sinny the next i had to change medications and gained 60 pounds with in a few months without changing anything. From there on it was down hill and i have gained more and more uncontrollably. I am here becuase I am becoming unhealthy and my family deserves better from me. You just can be the same person with an extra 100 or so pounds. good luck to all!!!

I don't think I have intorduced myself here, but if I have, forgive me. I live in Shreveport LA, am the morher of 3 grown sons and grandmother of 4 wonderful grandsons. I was normal sized until the birth of my sons, after the birth of each, I graduallly gained back up to my pre-birth weight. Then after the death of my first husband, I gained another 50 lbs gradually.

I am now married to a wonderful man who thinks I am wonderful just like I am, however, he deserves a healthy mate to spend the rest of his life with.

My goals are good health and more energy.

I am glad to be here and I know that this time I will DO IT.emoticon

hi my name is tiffany and i'm a 27 year old mother of 3 ages 2, 4, and 6 and i'm a full time massage student. i was doing really well with my diet for a while but when i started school it became "impossible" to keep track of myself and here i am 5 months into being a student and i have put 10lbs back on. i am really hoping that i can get myself back on track and get back to the weight falling off. this time last year i was 270lbs and as of right now i am 237 which is still a better number then before but ideally i need to be around 130-140 i know i can do it but it won't be easy.

Welcome everyone. I have had a bad day today foodwise. Went out to lunch with the other teachers for Chinese food and also didn't have a great night or a walk because of the rain. Last day of school tomorrow and I hope to have a lot more energy for this whole thing. Its been a VERY rough year, but things are looking up for next year!

Hi, my name is Melissa and I'm from Iowa. I'm going to be 40 later this summer, and I have four kids (ages 19,18,16 and 7). My goal is to lose about 70 lbs (100 would probably be better), and I also plan on running a 5k. I've always been a big girl, and I've lost and gained the same 20 or 30 lbs a good zillion times. I have to say when I started this just a week or so ago I was feeling pretty overwhelmed and a wee bit hopeless about all of this...but I've been doing pretty good staying in my calorie range and with exercising. I've found this to be pretty motivational so far, and I'm excited to get to know you guys and to have all of you for support.

Hi, I'm Kat from Ohio and according to those charts I have 140lbs to lose. However, I'd like to lose approx. 75-100lbs. I've tried WW and the points, but learned how to work around them.
