How funny is that? A post every 2 years about where I am and what I want to do and when I wanted to have finished the goal by.
I turned 42 this year but I don't look my age. In fact, I have the appearance of someone who has barely reached their 25th birthday (or younger depending on who you ask)! Genetics is all I can say, I have no reason why this is. I drink alcohol, I used to smoke although I've never done drugs. I used to hate the sun but now I don't mind it so much.
I spent most of the last 8 months overseas traveling in Southeast Asia visiting Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand with two short trips to China and Japan. Although I didn't pass a course to obtain a certificate for TESOL, I still taught English to students in Pak Chong and Khao Yai, Thailand. A ton of new friends were made.
I hiked with a 12 kg camera bag everywhere that I went, I kayaked in Vietnam, I actually ascended 5 km upwards in Thailand and am continuing my physical activity to this day! I missed out on climbing Mount Fuji and wished I knew about cycling around everywhere else that I went!
I weigh 220 lbs as of this morning, closer to my goal of 13 stones but still working on it. No longer am I dreaming about losing weight, I AM losing it! My mood is fantastic as are my energy levels!
If the next post happens in 2 years, I can only hope that all the weight loss this year remains off and I am back on the continent of Asia exploring everywhere else that I didn't travel to the last time! Let's add the exploration of Europe to my goals for the next 2 years! :D

So, my name is still the same but this post is 2 years from the last one. I'll be 40 in June & I still have dreams of dropping excess weight. Perhaps, allotting a weekly goal of 2-3 lbs/week from May 1, 2012 until May 1, 2013 for a solid 12 months (96+ lbs?) would be wiser than stating pie in the sky type of unrealistic goals. Let's see whether this will work, this time around.
For a solid year (the time that I returned to school), I stopped using SP & it didn't help b/c I put a lot of what I lost, back on. 248-ish lbs now (very unhealthy weight).
Although I'd like to still do those outdoorsy type of activities, I'll settle for not feeling crappy all the time & having the energy to do whatever, whenever!
The Philadelphia Marathon is around November, my brother et al are running in it (again) - will I join them this year? Might be a good goal.
Now if I can just get as motivated as our fearless team leaders, I'll be able to achieve greatness.

My name is Derek, I will turn 38 in June and I'm trying to reinvent myself by losing between 50 and 90 lbs by the time I turn 39.
Why now? Because I want to become more of an outdoors person, I want to learn how to kayak, I want to go rock climbing, I want to ski during the winter months, I want to be able to take off my shirt at the beach and not be embarrassed, I want to run a marathon (or walk), and I want to feel better about myself, overall.
Oh, I'm from the 6th borough of New York City, aka North New Jersey, Essex County.
