You can eat turkey bacon...I heard it's good! I try to stick to the real stuff though (to be completely honest). I just eat it in moderation. Everything in moderation...

Well, I ended up not using the step tracker after all. I found that I didn't like having anything strapped/clipped to me when I was walking. I used the mileage tracker and mapped my route for the last three days which has worked well so far. Three days on this diet--aaarrrgh!
No processed food, no soda, no meat (bacon aaaahhhhh), just healthy stuff. I need a new vice! I can't smoke or eat crappy food! I can at least enjoy my wife to take off the stress thank God.

Thanks for the information, it was quite helpful. I have a pedometer that I am going to try out tomorrow morning when I go walking and use it in the step tracker. Wish me luck, day one is always the hardest!

The amount of calories you burn while walking really depends on how FAST you are walking, as well as the length. Easy to do on a treadmill, since it tells you how fast you are walking, and most of the time you will also get your calories burned (which I have found to be fairly accurate - within 10-20 calories of Spark's count).

If you are like me and walk a track, a pedometer comes in very handy! I just have a simple $20 one that counts my steps, and tells me how many calories I have burned. I will then manually put that amount in Spark under the Cardio section. A heart monitor would probably work better, since it's actually tracking your heart rate, but I don't have that much money. I know that there are calculations you can do, etc. to figure out how fast you were walking (how long did it take you to walk that mile?), but I'm too lazy to try to figure that out!

All in all, I personally would use the Cardio tracking on the Fitness page to figure out how many calories you are burning while walking!

It has been 17 months since I quit smoking and I have gained about 50lbs. I have set up my meal plans and printed my grocery list. Ready to lose the weight with diet and exercise.
I am wondering how many calories walking burns? I see on the fitness tracker the caloric expense for strength training, but none for the mileage tracker/step tracker. Anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance.
