Welcome Irene! And I love you too! I'm always noticing how wonderful you are about reading so many different people's blogs and I always think how you look like a Queen with your tiara on that lovely hair of yours!
You are truly what I mean by a yo-yo, a person who varies from a basic weight by a few pounds. Not the person who loses 30 and then gains back 40. Although that is a type of yo-yo also I suppose, but not what I had in mind. Usually a person like that is one who goes on a diet, loses the weight, then goes back to their normal way of eating and gained it back. My aim is a healthy lifestyle and losing weight is just one of the benefits.
Hi, I am didmis and love SCOTMAMA. That is why I joined the team. My goal weight is 152. In February 2007 I started with TOPS and SPARK and lost 52 pounds (from 204) in exactly 9 months. I became the queen of our district and was crowned and also became a KOPS TOPS is take off pounds sensibly; Kops is Keep off pounds sensibly. I did gain some weight because of a lot of stress from t he group so left that group and joined another where I reached my goal weight again. Since then I have stayed within goal. I can gain 3 pounds or lose 7 pounds and stay with goal but like to stay at 150 or less. Our weigh in day is Monday which is hard on me as I leave for church early on Sunday and cannot take my water pills. I begin swelling and retaining water. I have had that problem for years of the swelling. I invite you to my page if you would like to know more about me and especially would be happy if you read my last two blogs. I said I needed to quit some of the teams but instead I keep adding. LOL. Irene

Welcome Nancy! Thanks so much for telling us about YOU! Weight gain comes to most people as we begin to get older, so it's normal. We eat the same as we did when younger, but we don't exert ourselves as much as we did when younger.
It will come off -- don't think of this as a DIET, think of it as a healthy lifestyle -- it's all about change.
Hi, I am Nancy and I have been "dieting" since my 30's and I weighed about 130 pounds. I am now 55 and weigh 181. I know that I should be doing a better job of keeping off the weight. This is my third time of being on Sparkpeople and the first two times I lost weight but never made it to my goal. Both times I gained the lost weight and then even more back. This time I want to take off the weight and keep it off for more than a couple of months.
Hi!! I'm joining about a month after the last post in there... oops!
My name is Sarah, and I have been between the same 15 lbs for the last God-knows-how-long. My goal is 20-25lbs off total - so let's hope I can lose those 15 lbs (again), and another 5-10! Oh, and that I can KEEP it OFF!
:) ps, I'm usually not this grumpy - I'm quite the optimist! I'm just frustrated...
Been married 19 years this November! Hard to believe. Wonderful guy, even though he is infuriating also!!! But I love him. We have two wonderful busy teenage boys!!!
I will be "retiring" in a few weeks. Yes, I am way too young! But I am lucky that I am able to. I will be focusing on my new business that I started with a partner last year. Plus, can focus on my family more. I do not do well struggling between work and family.
I got Lyme's Disease 2 years ago. It took several months for them to figure out what was wrong. I got depressed while I was so sick and they couldn't find anything wrong. I gained about 20 pounds. Recently over the winter, I gained another 10. Add that to the 10 pounds I was already overweight and well, it isn't pretty!
I joined Spark People in February. I absolutely love it and the people on here. I haven't been successful at all at losing any weight though. I lose a couple of weeks then gain it back. I am on the high side.
Last week I decided I was going to start exercising every day, no matter what. I have only missed 1 day in the 12 days since. It was Mother's Day, and the day just got away from me. But it was a fabulous day and wouldn't change a thing.
This week I am trying to change how I eat. I really need to get this weight off. Hoping we can figure it out together.
Hi I'm Miriam. I'll be married 34 years this month and have one son - hence LOVE2MEN.
I've been a member of SparkPeople for over two years and love it! My weight has always been within the normal range - but right at the top of the range. I've recently decided to retire from work - after 25 years with the company - and am hoping to really really focus on creating a routine that will improve my overall health. First by reducing stress and exercising regularly! June 25th will be my last day - I CAN NOT WAIT!!
I don't have Scottish blood, but I am 50% Welsh and 50% Italian and I love the sound of bagpipes! I'm second generation American but have never had the opportunity to visit any of my over-seas relatives. All of my grandparents came to America in the early 1900s when they were in their early 20s.
Hi Eve and everyone -- my name is Cathy --I am a Mom also, 56 and "retired". I now do lots of volunteer work and have been doing a bit of pet sitting on the side. I especially love dogs of nearly all breeds -- there are a few I would never own but won't get into that. I am thinking one reason for my fluctuating may very well be due to my inconsistent water consumption. Another thing that spikes it up is having meal that is very salty or if it has a lot of refined pasta or bread.(ie white bread and/or pasta). You would think I would stay away from those things but every once in a while I just go crazy with it -- and it doesn't even taste that great to me any more
I exercise very regularly -- walking other people's dogs along with walking my own helps with that -- plus I love to walk and to count my daily steps.
I too have some Scottish blood in me on my Mother's side and my Marine son is stationed in your hot state

This is where I'd like you all to introduce yourselves to the rest of the members!
As for me, SCOTMAMA, my name is Eve. I chose that name because I'm of Scottish descent and I'm a Mom. At age 71 I still don't feel old in my head, and I'd like my body to reflect how I feel mentally. What better way than to lose a few pounds, tone up, look and act younger!
Let's share our secrets and figure out why our weight seems to fluctuate up and down within a 3 to 10 pound range. Do we skip exercise on our "fat" days? Or forget to drink water? Or just plain make the wrong choices? There is usually a good reason behind everything -- even this.
Got any tips? Let's share them........ Hugs to you all, Eve!
