I am not in menopause quite yet. But getting close. I have all those symptoms you talk about to "look forward to". Good news. I've lost 5+ pounds this week. I've had to readjust my calorie intake tremendously, drinking more water, eating more fiber and, continuing to exercise 5 times per week. I've been netting less than 1000 calories a day to do this, but when I shoot for 1200 calories, net I either stay the same or gain. Luckily, with all the extra fiber, I'm not really hungry. But still, hopefully, I won't have to eat like this the rest of my life. Good luck to you.

Hello everyone! I read your post and came to the part where you said weight just kept piling on and right at your belly. Well - that's me. I could have written that part of your comment. Only with me, I began menopause in July 2010 and the weight has consistently found me. I was only 47 when I started menopause, and like you, I wish I had a do-over. Not only have I gained weight, but my fatigue level has increased. I hate menopause - the hot flashes, weight gain, mood swings, fatigue, etc. etc. All of it. I can't find one thing that's positive with menopause. I found this site hoping to find the help I need in regaining my figure, and my energy level. Thanks for listening to me rant

Hello all. I was semi-happy to find this group. Happy because, I'm not the only one gaining at this period in my life, but sad, because I didn't see a lot of hope that I can start losing again. I am from Missouri and in November of 2009 I weighed 220 pounds. In January, I discovered Sparkpeople and by the end of December, 2010, I was down nearly 70 pounds. I gained back a few when I stopped tracking religiously every day, but still maintained 160 or so for nearly a year. Then all of a sudden, my periods started getting irregular, my belly started getting bigger and the weight started piling on. I've gained more than 25 pounds in 2 years, and all in my belly. I still track my food and exercise, but switched to myfitnesspal because it's easier on the iphone. I still do zumba or some kind of aerobic exercise 3-4 times per week. And, I still watch what I eat. I hope that someone on this team can give me some hope. I want to feel sexy again, like I felt at 48. At 50, I just feel old and ugly, not so nifty.
