Thanks for the welcomes!

I look forward to learning to cook without salt and can use all the help I can get. I am proud to say that for the last couple days I have not even salted the food while I was cooking it. I had previously cut down on the amount I used when cooking when my husband was diagnosed with high blood pressure.....Of course, that was like a drop in the bucket because he's obviously still been eating a high amount of sodium since we eat the same thing!

This is going to be good for both of us, and hopefully keep me OFF the blood pressure medicine and allow him to cut down on or totally eliminate his.

I have been quiet the last couple weeks, but wanted to pop in and say welcome. I know exactly how you feel. We share many ailments in common, but we can all get through this together.

Keep an eye out, I am about to upload a new recipe to my Karen's Kraving cookbook. I even have a picture this time, but it is a surprise. I will get it uploaded this weekend. Until then...stay happy, it's the best medicine!

Hi, my name is Brenda and I'm new to the group, but not to SP. I joined in June of 2007, then became ill and wasn't able to do much. It has only been in the past 5 or 6 weeks that I have returned and really started checking everything out.

I have diastolic heart failure, depression, borderline high cholesterol (just a couple points before my doctor says it's time for meds for it), GERD, overactive bladder, pre-diabetes, arthritis, and edema, as well as being morbidly obese.

Like many other people I got quite a shock at the amount of sodium I was consuming every day. Love that nutrition tracker!! Now I have to learn a whole new way of cooking, and I think it will be so much easier to learn along with the rest of you.
