Hi ladies! I didn't realize this thread had opened up or I would have jumped in sooner.

Since we already have a thread for general conversation on gardening, "Let's Talk Gardening -- The Gazebo" I'd like to encourage you to move your conversation over there so we can all participate.

As we mentioned in our first "sticky" topic, we try to keep new threads to a minimum in order to not have "kudzu" threads springing up everywhere. This was what caused this team to decline so much early in the year, so we try to keep our chatter confined to a few main threads.

I hope you all understand, and please continue your discussion over in the Gazebo!

Thank you for your understanding.

Donna

Hi from NE PA. Not much rain here. most of my plantings are shade loving and don't seem to dry out as much as the sun loving ones. I have to water all my pots every day.

I won't be on line for a few days but when I am back on line I will attach some more pictures of my gardens.

I like to plant things but I also like to use "garden junk." I have found some neat things. I joined a group on MSN called Garden Junk and have gotten a lot of ideas from them.

I spent awhile in the garden today but then the humidity came back and it was back to the shade.... Also my antique shop is open on Sundays so waited on some customers.

This summer is so hot, hotter than I can remember for mild middle TN. Every day it has been over 105 degrees, for several weeks now. Global warming? Who knows? I just keep watering and weeding, and I have lettuce seeds at hand waiting for it to cool off LOL

Hi There, I'm new to the Gardening Team. I do a lot of Flower Gardening, we don't have enough room for a veggie garden. And I would love one of those. I put a cherry tomato plant in a big pot each year so my husband can have fresh sweet tomatoes (I'm allergic to tomatoes) Here in the Northwest we are cooling down in the evenings and mornings... I'm not ready for Summer to be over, I feel we have not had Summer this year. My flower gardens don't seem to be doing as good. Although my peonies were really beautiful after a really slim pickings last year.
Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Sounds like we are all having a tough growing season. Most of my plants have died due to heat despite watering. I got a few cucumbers and some tomatoes. My spinahc has long died along with my zucchini.

Hi Laura here. Well here in Jersey we are suffering too the last two weeks in hasn't dropped below 90 degrees yestarday was 101. At nite it doesn't go below 95. So the grass and everything is suffering I water but I think I would have to leave the water on 24hours for it to do any good it dries up in a matter of minutes. But I must say my tomatoes are loving it not my cucumbers or peppers. The weather guy said we are getting some relief tonite so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Well everyone good luck in this heat I pray for lots of rain for all who are sweating in the heat. bye for now

It has been really dry here, my sprinklers a couple of times a week are not helping much.

I harvested 3 tomatoes so far, rabbits I think ate the rest. Green peppers, I managed to get 3 to eat so far. I didn't really plant much for veggies, 1 tomato vine and 2 bell pepper plants. The rest of my tiny garden is flowers. I have beautiful zinnias, cannas, babies breath, petunias, and cosmos.
I hope all of your gardens are doing well!
P.S. I have very healthy weeds.

Tis the season for fresh garden vegetables. I have green and yellow beans, peas, spinach, cucumbers, tomatos, peppers and eggplant growing. I enjoy eating the fresh vegetables and dread winter when I have to buy them in a store
