There is one thing that really struck home to me that I learned this term in my classes... No matter what, always make sure to take the time to take care of yourself. This concept had always gone in one ear and out the other being a single mom, working, and now going to school full time for nursing (I did have to quit my job). With 2-1/2 terms left, feeling overwhelmed and stressed, one of my instructors pulled me aside during a study group to remind me how very important this is. This time, I took the message to heart, and I'm so glad I did.
I know it's not easy, especially with a special needs child, but you have to take care of yourself in order to be there for your children. We are all here to support you, so don't be afraid to ask. You can email me too whenever you like.
P.S. Have you created your sparkpage yet? It's a great way for us to stay in touch with you and offer encouragement.

Sending my welcome to you also!! We are glad to have you on this great team. My hubby and I have a rescued Jack Russell named Zoey who is our love dog!!! I agree with the others that you need to set aside some time each day just for yourself. I have to keep reminding myself of that also!!!!
Sandi We have 2 children and 4 grandchildren and live in Tallahassee, Florida.
I know what you mean, I'm a carer for my two brothers and at times it all just overwhelms me. Take time for yourself (a thing I have yet to get done for me yet) and please join in on some of the chat threads so we can get to know you a little better.
Peace and long life - Jules

Hi and welcome to the team. I have two grown, married kids am a widow and I live with my two kitties. You've come to a great place for support. It's important to do things for you and take care of yourself. I know that came be easier said then done. Try setting some time aside each day just for you - go for a walk, read, do one of the exercise videos.

Hi! I am new to SparkPeople and wanted to introduce myself. I am a 33 year old mother of two (a daughter with special needs - age 9 and a son - age 5), working full-time plus, and trying to remember what sleep looks like. I need to take better care of myself, and I need help with being reminded of that. So I thought this would be a great place to start. I want to get healthy, take off a few pounds, and really start to be more supportive of me. I am also hoping I can reform my family a bit along the way. Thanks!
