Hi Lisa,

Welcome!

I lived in the Bay Area until I moved last year to Tahoe. So I used to dive exactly what you describe. :) I was a training assistant, so I dove around more than the Breakwater, but we definitely taught most of our beginner dives there.

I usually only read and post in our "Divers Daily Fitness Center" and the monthly weight-loss challenges, so please join both! :)

I was just complaining there that the shop where I used to teach closed and it was one of the last NAUI shops, and that there are no dive shops in the Tahoe basin itself.

Hi Lisa,

Wow, jealous of your location - that would be great! I've done a little abalone diving in Northern California a few years ago but, that was of course free diving and we stuck to the bays. I live in Oregon and, like you, I usually get to dive once a month too but have to drive 3 hours one way to the Puget Sound so we try to make a weekend of it.
Anyway, welcome to our group and I too will extend an invitation to join us in the Narced Divers Lounge.

Hi Lisa, great to see you made it over here and like Tina said, hope you will join all our other threads as well.

I live in Montreal and most of our local diving is is Brockville, Ontario (One Thousand Island) in the St. Lawrence River. Conditions can be challenging at some dive sites with some very strong currents and vis is not great in the summer, We have a few wrecks scattered about in the river and do alot of drift diving too.

Happy to have you with us!

Michela

HI Lisa - I noticed that as well, that wetsuits are shrinking! It's totally shocking! Love kelp forests as well, did dive in them once. I'm in Kuwait.

Oh, and Lisa, don't get discouraged if there isn't anyone on here this weekend...it is a holiday, after all!! This is a pretty active site, though, when it's not the weekend, especially a holiday weekend!

Hi Lisa! Welcome to the Scuba Divers page! Join us in the Narced Lounge where we do all of our chatting. Also, check out our challenge page and join our challenge next month (we have one every month).

I've never dove the west coast. I live in Wisconsin, where summer water temps in the 40's and 50's are the norm, and what we usually see is between zero and 20 feet of vis. I do believe we have divers out there in this group, though.

I hope we can inspire you and help you along with your weight loss journey (we are pretty successful here), and we look forward to swapping dive tales with you!

Hi there, my name is Lisa and I was so happy to find a team dedicated to divers. I live in the bay area and dive mostly at San Carlos Beach in Monterey. I've also been diving in Tahoe, Catalina and just last month in Maui. But I must say, my favorite and most beautiful dives have been in Monterey.

I got certified 5 years ago and have logged just over 60 dives. I try to get out at least once a month, but that just doesn't always happen. I've noticed overt the last couple of years my wetsuit keeps getting tighter and tighter, and instead of investing in a new one I think I should drop the extra weight instead. Pun intended?????
