If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win but think you can't,
It's almost certain you won't.
Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can. (Walter D. Wintle)

Thanks, I am looking at a Dr. That is well educated and trained. One who understands that we are dealing with a serous problem and listens. Also, one who can encourage me and guide me in the right direction and with a complete regimen of exams and nutrition.
I appreciate your feedback and wish for you a complete recovery.

Since I was diagnosised last year while I was in NC but reside in WI, I have had 2 separate oncologists. I can't advise but I can share what has I have had with the two. First both are following the same regime with me as far as follow-up. Appointments for CT scans are the same rotation...when it comes to personalities, I really cannot separate them! I have been lucky in that they both are fairly young! They are cheerful and up-building! I want my oncologist to include me in all discussions so that I am a part of not an onlooker!

As scary as this is I want an oncologist that is available!

So I guess what I am saying is this, decide why you like a DR. Then look for at least that in whomever your choose.

Manny, I would be very interested in what you find out. I met my new Oncologist for the first time and was underwhelmed to say the least. The only reason he saw me was to pacify my surgeon. He couldn't wait to pass me off to another Oncologist at Dana-Farber Cancer Center in Boston which is about 100 miles from here. I was able to make arrangements to see him when he is in this area the end of the month.
I have the same questions about what to look for in an Oncologist as this is my first dealing with one.
Take care,

Bob

My oncologist left the clinic for a teaching job. I have to find a new doctor for aftercare. What qualifications are important for aftercare?
