Welcome to the team You'll find a lot of support and ideas on the team and the site in general. I found the more I participated the more support and positive vibes I got. I wish you the best in your endeavors and achieving your goals.
To break the hate cycle try the following from a psychologist
Love yourself, if you can't find something to love, try liking yourself.
Like yourself, if you can't find something to like, try respecting yourself.
Respect yourself, if you can't find something to respect, start to take action to find something to respect. The rest will progress as you regain trust in yourself and abilities like you would for a friend or coworker.

Welcome to the team. Its a great step to take. Joining the team and welcoming others has helped me keep on track. I also use the nutrition tracker as it shows me exactly what I am really eating and now its helping me watch my sodium levels. I agree that keeping a journal has been another helpful activity for me. Having to write something everyday has kept me focused on why I'm here doing this hard work. you can do it too.

Hi and welcome, good luck on your journey. One thing I have found helpful in the last while is staying involved in the sparkpeople community--join some teams, post on message boards, add some friends, participate in what's going on--I am finding that I feel some responsibility to the community and myself to keep working at my goals. If other people are invested in you, you feel like you have some responsibility to them, and you are more likely to be invested in yourself!

Wow- what a group. All I can say is I am going to print out these replies and look at them when I am feeling hopless and not worth the effort to try to lose. We have all been there-it's true, but each one of us has to find the key to make the change. Spark has helped me to see how i am sabotaging myself and my goals. I have not done the blogging but I think I will start. Maybe that will be my key.
Keeping track of what you eat is essential. I use a notebook that I keep on my desk at work and then put in my bag to take home. I also put down what times I eat and you definitely can see a pattern.
Good luck on your journey- You can do it- you are not alone in the journey- we are all here to help you.

Hi and welcome!
You say that you have a great day, then go off track the next, then have a good day cycle. I have had that pattern in varying degrees for years. I am having less of the off track days now.
There are 4 simple things that I have done that really help.
1. Track everything I eat. ( Even on days I'm off track and eat too much I log it. Keeps me accountable.) 2. Exercise. Do some form of movement starting with 10 minutes a day 5 days a week. It's amazing how just moving a little will help me feel better and more in control. 3. Drink water. I drink at least 10 cups a day. I feel less bloated and thinner when I do. 4. Write a journal/blog. This one has had the largest impact. During my blogs (they are all public here on SP) I have dealt with the emotional issues and protections that have kept me heavier than I truly want to be. Writing about it helped me to see that I no longer need these behaviors in my life.
Good luck! Cyndi

you can do this. there's many here who have been thru the same insane cycle before. small steps. you know in your heart what works for you - just do it. for me - it's keeping track of what i eat on the spark people nutrition page while i relearn what to eat (no more "i was good during the week i can relax on the weekends") and walking *every* *single* *day*...(no more 'well i walk three days a week, sometimes')... baby steps, no more excuses, keep moving forward...you will feel better physically and mentally...and amazingly, i' can eat and not be hungry!...you *can* do it...!!!

You are right, it is a form of self sabotage and you are worth more than that! You were created for wonderful things, believe it, live it now! Don't wait until you have lost weight to be happy with who you are. Choose to learn to like who you are and what you have to offer the world around you! You make a difference and by choosing better, you teach others to choose better! Be blessed, you are already beautiful.
