There are a ton of websites that sell steel corset boning, if you just do a google search. You can get them in either the spiral steel kind (more flexible) or the while steel kind (less flexible). The white steel only comes in precut lengths, but the spiral steel can be purchased either precut or in a continuous roll. It's usually pretty cheap.
I think that my favorite brand of boots would have to be Pleaser. I do have a soft, stompy place in my heart for Demonia, but I find that Pleaser has a wider variety of boots and shoes that I like.
I can't say for sure where or when I first heard about Steampunk. I have several friends in the goth community that have been big fans of Steampunk for many years. I hadn't done much research into it until 2011 when I had planned a Steampunk Halloween costume (which is still not finished. :P). As I've done more research, it seems like the community has many similarities to goth, but with more crarfting and less drama.
We get some concerts through the Cleveland area once in a while. I saw Hanzel und Gretel not too long ago. Unfortunately a lot of the concerts are on weeknights, which makes it difficult to get out to them. We have a goth club here, too, called The Chamber. It's decent. It used to be better, but the Drama Llama has kind of trampled a lot of it away. We also have a once-monthly goth night at a gay bar which is pretty cool, but I don't get to go to that often as it's on Sundays. Erie also has a once-monthly goth night on the first Friday of each month, and I go to that sometimes, as it's only a 1.5 hour drive.
I've been wanting to some day sew my own corsets. They're so expensive to buy. I think I bought one at an anime con for 200 a few years ago. What do you use for boning?
I love boots.. I don't have a massive collection because I also love Lolita type chunky heeled platforms sooo it's kind of divided. What's your favorite brand for boots?
I really adore Steampunk. The anime con I went to in San Jose last year partnered with the local Steampunk group and they hosted their own Steampunk con along with the anime con. Their dealers room stuff was almost all handmade goods and they were all so gorgeous and detailed. What got you introduced to Steampunk?
I've been in love with the Cruxshadows for as long as I can remember.. Rogue
I'm a fan of VNV Nation too. I like the Prodigy, Aesthetic Perfection, Muse, Combichrist and tons others.
Do you get to go to any concerts or goth clubs? I'm not too familiar with OH.

My animelist^.^ Add me if you have one.
Buwahaha is my user name on anime-planet.com as well.
I'm really glad that you are back! Sounds like your right on track and thank you for your participation in the group.
Hi all! So, this is about my third time starting again with SparkPeople. I've changed a few things this time around, so I'm hoping something new will stick. I've lost a bit of weight since starting with SparkPeople, but not nearly as much as I should have. I love all things goth, I sew my own corsets, and have a massive boot collection. Recently I have started to lean more to steampunk. It's fantastic because it can be as goth as I want it to be (corsets, buckles, black lace, etc.) as long as I have some steampunk elements, and the people in the scene seems to value honorable and drama-free interactions much more than in the goth community. My favorite bands include ThouShaltNot, Cruxshadows, Covenant, and VNV Nation. I've already taken the initiative and "jumped right in" with team activities. I just figured I'd give people the chance to know a bit more about me!
