Hi Donna. Welcome to the team. This is the place to vent and talk about your pain. We are here to support you in whatever way we can. I pray that your immune system will straighten itself out so that you can get off the Prednisone. Do you have a hobby that you enjoy which can help to replace the times when you think about eating when you are not supposed to eat? Take care and keep in touch. MaryBeth

I am what I consider, one of God's jokes. As soon as I know where the ra is and figure out how to deal with it...the fibromyalgia starts in or the RA moves. I am an emotional eater and really need encouragement to get past that. I;'vie been so sick lately (they had to give me retuxin) that my immune system has crashed and I'm on 80mg of Prednisone a day. (good thing spelling doesn't count!)..Because of the prednisone and the emotional eating I've gained almost 20 lbs in the last 6 weeks. HELP I need all the encouragement and guidance I can get. 12toofat7 (Donna)
Hi Gayle. Welcome to the team. We are not overly active here but if you want to send me a spark message privately we can talk that way. Sometimes it is helpful just to let out our feelings with an outside friend. I know how hard it is to get exercise when you are in discomfort. I am in need of a hip replacement, but sometimes my knees are not so great either. I know I carry far too much weight on my joints. Taking off pounds is easier said than done. Just take it one pound at a time and try not to get discouraged.
Hi! My name is Gayle and I am obese and have arthritis Because of my being heavy for so long my knees are so bad, I am walking bone on bone(very painful) The doctor has said he will not do knee replacements until I lost 150 lbs So using a cane right now and working on the weight! I'm hoping I can get help and encouragement from this team

Welcome to the team Vicki! I was away on a pilgrimage trip to Ireland thus the reason I am just responding to you now. I have osteo so am probably not suffering quite as much as you are with pain. While I was in Ireland I used a cane (folds up for easy storage), it really helped me to get around. There was a couple of times I even gave in to having the assistance of a wheelchair. I am only 57 yrs old - still young to have to be suffering but I guess we get what we get and have to learn how to deal with it. I am not afraid to ask for help when needed or to accept help from others - I think it is easier done at our age than it is for the older folks who do not want to take away from their independence. I have an appointment with an orthopedic specialist coming up in July so will see what my options are - I'm thinking a hip replacement is possible, and/or knee surgery. I have found it difficult to take off weight since I've had arthritis - some days I just do not feel like exercising. And I have a husband who does the cooking. Yes, I too need to take off pounds in order to relieve the pressure on my joints. Easier said than done! But hang in there, we are here to support each other in our efforts. Let me know if you find something that works to get weight off. I am having trouble getting under 200 lbs. - my ultimate goal would be to get to 150 but doesn't look like I will get there anytime soon.
Hi, My name is Vicki and I'm 55 years old. I'll be 56 in August. I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life and it's time I get back to a weight I know will be healthier for me. I'm working towards getting down to 185 lbs. I won't be thin but I'll be much healthier than I am now. I have RA and inflammation of the joints along my spine, hips, and lower back. Some days it's all I can do to move. I was told losing the weight would greatly improve my over all health so I'd have less pain.
