Hi Nola,
I know what it feels like to have pain all of the time. I have gone through it. I don't know if you belong to a gym that has a therapy pool and hot tub, but I found that using both of those really helped to relax the muscles and reduced some of the pain and you can exercise in therapy pool (the water is warm) even a pool by walking laps and even swimming. You can do it-always take 1 day at a time, don't look ahead!! Also, how did you get that weight scale at the bottom of your message?

Good morning-I am still trying to wake up and then I have a busy day ahead of me. I have to make divinity for work tomorrow and that will be a challenge not to eat it. Then I have laundry, eBay, bills...so it will be a busy day. I did lose 2 lbs last week so that was a very good way to start my day.

How are you doing?

Just keep doing what you have been and keep the bad foods out of your house. I don't know if anyone lives with you, but if they do, make sure that they know that you don't want the temptations in the house, so they need to hide whatever they bring in. Make sure you are also drinking a lot of fluids. Someone told me that you should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces. I know that seems like a lot, but shoot as close to that as you can. I can't ever make it drinking that much, but I do get between 70 and 80 ounces a day, only half as much as I should.

that's great. and i will pray you don't over do it not you need not worry so much you will be fine.so have so much trouble with food i have not done bad today not real good but not bad i'm keeping mt sugars under control.

It seems that since I have been eating better foods this week, that I have gone down 2.5 lbs. That puts me only 2.5 lbs short of what I gained during my 2 weeks of binging. I am going to lose the other 2.5 this week. I am still eating some foods that I shouldn't, but there are so many treats being brought to work. I try to resist, but I just have to take one. I am able to control what I take though. Monday, we have our big Christmas party and pot luck at work. I hope that I can control myself and not overdo. If you pray, say a prayer for me!!

Well consider yourself kicked in the butt. You need to get back into what you were doing and continue to lose that weight. If you have been walking and you stop, you are going to need less calories, and if you stopped walking, it probably means that you are eating more calories. At least that is how it works with me. If I am on a good run of losing and for some reason I slack off, it usually means that I don't care anymore and I start eating again.

I read on your spark page that you have a couple of dogs. I'm sure that they love to walk and would love to take you out once in a while. Just start slow again and you can get back on track.

If you have anything in your house that causes you to binge, give it to your grandson. I'm sure that he would appreciate it and you won't have it there to binge on. Stock your house with fruit and veggies. It will take a while to get back into the habit that helped you lose that first few pounds, but just remember how good it felt when you started seeing the scales go down.

i have the arthritis that start with an o i can''t spell it most in my back and left shoulder right now shoulder pain is bad i have a leg and arm bike i use i walk do wlk a way the pounds but right now i'm not doing any of it need to have someone kick me in the butt.

I see you have started with a small goal which is very good. Can you tell me what kind of diet you are following or are you just keeping track of your calories on Sparkpeople? I see that you have already lost some weight so I would keep doing what you are doing until you hit a plateau, then you will have to change something to get yourself off of it.

I know the pain issues, but you have to keep moving. What kind of arthritis do you have? I am no expert, but I will try to help you as much as I can. I can only say what I am doing and give you suggestions from that and what I read.

If you have been walking that is great. But if you haven't I would try to at least start walking around your house. Then if you have to sit down, you will at least be home and able to get somewhere to rest. Let me know if any of this helps, and I would like to know if you work outside the home, Married, kids, etc. This all makes a difference in how we handle the weight loss issues.

Thanks for looking at my forum and I hope that you will join in so we can get some support from each other.

I am 53 (almost 54) years old and have Osteo arthritis, Rheumatiod arthritis, and Reiters. I also have Raynuads, Fibromyalgia, and permanent nerve damage in both of my arms. These are a struggle in themselves, and I know that there are others that have the same, less (but still in pain) or a lot worse pain issues that they are dealing with daily. I want to help you, and I need your help to deal with these issues and lose the weight that I need to lose. I currently weigh 227.5 and know that I have been struggling with the weight even before I developed the arthritis. I have always been overweight, but have been able to lose the weight with exercise and diet, but now that I am in so much pain, it is so hard to get the exercise in to help with the weight loss. I have lost 25 lbs since Mar 2009, so it can be done and with the help of others, I know that we can reach our mark.

My hope for this group is to band together and be able to stay on track with the diet, while learning new ways of exercise that will help with the daily struggles that we have.
