I have also found that I LOVE getting a better connection between what I need emotionally and what I do. That's another great reason for yoga that I've only recently discovered.

I started out of curiosity in my teens, but didn't stick with it. Again in my late 20
s when someone gave me a book...and I continued doing it until I changed jobs and moved and took on a LOT more responsibilities. Again in my 30's when I discovered ashtanga yoga, but my life was cluttered and busy at that time and I eventually forgot to do it. Now in my mid-50's, it is restoring my back and knees to their youthful flexibility and easing out the last of my pain in these areas, as well as eliminating a pesky aching neck and headaches. I am regaining lost strength and building confidence that I never had before. I do my daily practice because it gives me what I need inside and out, and because it gives me hope. I'm getting up in years, but if it's at all possible to do a Scorpion pose at my age, I'm going to do it. I am growing stronger with every practice, and I like to tell myself that I'm unstoppable - that I can and will do everything that I set my mind to, because my mind is growing just as strong as my body is.

That's why I do yoga.

"Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting –
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.”

My first introduction to Yoga was in college sometime in the early 90s but the instructor was not the best (her voice was like comedienne Rosanne Barr). I could not get relaxed with her voice! LOL! I loved the stretching though but didn’t continue with her class. More recently I got into Pilates and I love it even though I’ve been terribly inconsistent with working out. However, my favourite parts of Pilates are the stretching positions so I figured I should ease back into Yoga. This One Minute Yoga concept just might be the thing to get me back on track with my workouts!

I actually first started practicing half a lifetime ago, when I was 15. There was this program that aired on VH1 in the morning as I was getting ready for school. I think it was called "Breathe in the AM" or something like that. I started out of boredom, to be honest.

The things I learned saved my life. When I was depressed, I turned to yoga instead of killing myself. When I've been in my darkest hours, Yoga pulled me back out. But when I was in an abusive relationship for 4 1/2 years, I lost it along the way. I've now been with my fabulous wife for 3 1/2 years (married last August), and have been finding the old me with her help. Yoga is part of regaining my sense of self, so I'm back to the basics, re-learning it from the ground up.

My reason for Yoga is, essentially, that I want to learn what that girl learned 15 years ago.

flexibility in the beginning but now actually pain management. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 5 years ago. I'm not one for meds if I can avoid them. yoga helps me avoid the meds. Less pain, less stress makes for a happy Eva.

I like the way yoga makes me feel. I do it to turn inward and be in touch with my body. I also hope - and notice - it helps me with flexibility and with relaxation.

Hi I'm new to the team. I did yoga over 15 years ago when I was thinner and more flexible. I love the way yoga makes me feel limitless. I look forward to creating a yoga practice to help me attain peace and flexibility. emoticon

I did a 10 week session years ago and always felt great after the session. Life got in the way. One of my daughters does it everyday. I have procrastinated on doing it or not but always thought I would never be any good at it. So when I saw OMY I thought that this would be a good start, take it slowly and it is great. I don't always get the poses exactly right but I practise that pose for a while and move on. I am taking it slowly. My goal is to get the 'sun salutation' right and do it every morning.

this is actually the beginning of my Yoga journey. I never tried it because it always seemed so overwhelming. 200 lbs the body does not always move the way instructors would teach. This team gave me the opportunity to experiment. The reason I like Yoga is because the poses push my mobility and it feels good. I am very greatful to the team for the learning expierence. Thank you!

I do yoga for me. It's my all about me time, about focusing on me, i can "usually" leave my junk off to the side of the matt and spend a little time with just me and getting more flexible and breathing... (i got into it when i was teaching aerobics, and they needed someone to teach the new "piyo" - and from there... i love it - never get enough time to do all i want, but love it!)

Hi LadyRose,

The definition - Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention.

I have David Carradine's tape. Very smooth, flowing movements. Breathing techniques are a big part. Acupressure points are included. Overall a nice healing workout. I liked it better than tai chi.

I was introduced to yoga in my twenties by my aerobics instructor.
My background was competitive sports and a degree in Physical Education. I thought yoga was too slow. But there was something about the way my body felt after and during that class that stuck with me.
In my forties, yoga and Qigong saved me after back problems.
Then a few years ago fibromyalgia progressed to the point that I was moving very little. I lost much muscle strength and flexibility. My anxiety was through the roof. With the help of my Dr. who's specialty is Chinese medicine and yoga I am doing so much better now. The pain is always there but yoga exercises are calming and healing for me.
Finding this team has been a healing resource and yoga the healing tool.

Flexibility & relaxation.

When I combine it with meditation I get inner peace, also.
