Hi, I am Christine, I am 49 and I started more seriously on SP a couple of months ago and at that time, I restarted my weight loss ticker :) I live in AZ but am originally from New Zealand! I am the mother of 2 teenagers (15 & 17), my daughter is a senior this year and my son is a sophomore. I have been married for 30 years to the best Mr Mom in the world! I am a pediatric intensive care nurse and I travel away for work. I work my shifts all at once and then come home. So I am gone for a week at a time, then have 8 days off! This year will be harder as my daughter is now a senior and is in band, so I have a lot of dates already on my calendar when i need to be home! I am also studying on line for my bachelors and masters in nursing! So that is a little about me :)

Hi! My name is Brandyce. I'm 29 yrs old and I started SP April 22 and have since lost 40 lbs. My doctor recommended the site.

Portion control is my biggest vice. The nutrition tracker really opened my eyes to how much I was eating and how many calories I consume. I use it mostly through the week but I have a hard time tracking on the weekends. But, I've done well so far! I exercise 2-3x/week now and I can't believe it.

I have no plans on going back to my old ways! This journey has been hard and I will struggle the rest of my life with it but I am confident I can do this!

Hi class mates!

I joined April 20 but I just started to be more active on the site! So far I love it!

I would love to hear from all of you though! How have you found the site? What is your favourite thing about it? Have you lost any weight in the last 4 months?

Can't wait to hear from you!
xoxo

I don't dare touch chocolate! I fear it would throw me off in a second! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water!
But I so agree we have to try and act as normal as we can. So when I menage to eat one little peace of the milky brown peace of heaven and not more, I'll consider it a great victory! LOL
Good to hear you are feeling happy and strong! i do too, and it's great. little scary, but great!

I started on April 22 and have been so happy with this process. I have been tracking my food, water, fruit and exercise. It helps me know where I really am. I have wanted to work on loosing weight for a while now but never had the motivation. Now my motivation is to get healthy and the visual tracking of all of it is really motivation to do better. I am starting to loose weight but better than that I have really learned a lot about healthy eating and exercise. Exercise is what I have to do better at - now riding my bike to work and finding how out of shape I really was. mM old mantra was "Every time I hear the "E" word I eat CHOCOLATE", now I am doing better - I am actually doing some exercise - but know I need to do more, and I will.
emoticon I am still having a bit of chocolate as a reward but doing it very smart these days.

Hello everyone! I have been investigating the site for a few days now and am having a fun time trying to find all the tools and commenting in the messages. I love this site. Its easy and helpful. I have been on weight watchers as well and I find this method better for me. I come here everyday and am excited what I might find. Every one is helpful and I enjoy hearing everyone's thoughts. I am looking forward to losing with all of you. Here's to success!

Hi everyone, I'm 29 and from central Virginia! I always thought that if I reached 200 lbs I would die. Well here I am over 200 lbs but I'm not dead, just miserable! I finally realized it's time to do something about the weight once and for all. I knew everything had clicked when I was able to turn down a fresh krispy kreme doughnut! emoticon Good luck to everyone, I'm so happy to be on this journey with you guys!

Greetings! I never realized the importance of the date-based team... until I was looking at another SP member's page, and thought I'd visit her entry-date team to see what that group was like... it was from January 2007, and there were 37 members in the group. In our week-entry date? Over 15,000!!! Wow, has the spark grown!

I've been in less than 2 weeks and I've already referred a dozen people. I explain it as a website that is ostensibly a weight-loss and fitness tracker and support system... but underneath is really a way to help people get in touch with and live by their highest values, gently set and achieve goals, and start to feel good about themselves, then daring to set larger and more meaningful goals and achieve them, too. I LOVE this site!!!

As I shared with that 2007 member (who has reached out to me several times already), never a skinny-mini, I had a quadruple-whammy about 10 years ago when I put on most of my 150+ lbs. of excess weight in less than one year: quit smoking, hit full menopause, facing 3 serious health issues, and had my fiance walk out without a word -- leaving me after he had helped me recover from major financial and personal losses in the previous year (loss of lifelong home, life savings, job, personal possesions, trusted friend, deaths of both parents)... on my own once again as single parent and sole support of my two children...

Well here I am 10 years later, already lost 60 lbs. thanks to the Isagenix nutritional cleansing program, looking forward to the next 100 with Isagenix plus the support of SparkPeople, helping me track my food and fitness so closely, keeping me honest with myself about what I'm actually doing, what I'm actually eating...

I love SparkPeople so much because it really helps break down the process into manageable bites... there is so much in life that leaves me feeling "overwhelmed" -- now, at least, managing and tracking my food and fitness seem doable, and I can feel the positive attitude beginning to drift over into the rest of my life, too.

I Sparkpeople inspires the people I have referred as much as it has me -- in just two weeks! I can't wait to see the changes in my life over the years to come. When my passion for SP starts to wane, please remind me of how I feel right now. I look forward to all of us achieving our heartfelt desires.

FYI: When I say "never a skinny-mini", I too was put on a diet as a child by my parents... started weight watchers (the first time) as a pre-teen (there would be 3 or 4 subsequent visits to that program)... went to a fasting retreat at 16... was a college athlete (crew) then blew up to 180 lbs. in my early 20s... after birth of my children crossed the 200-lb. mark for the first time...

After saparating from their father, and feeling in control of my work and financial life again (even though I was suffering from the loss of my parents and fighting a lawsuit against a rapacious landlord to hold onto my lifelong home, which I ultimately lost), during that time I went down to about 160... then after going thorugh all the above-listed crises (and a few more I didn't even go into here), I ballooned up over 300 lbs... tried everything, weight watchers, Atkins, Slim-fast, weight-loss supplements, exercise... like many others, I was considering dangerous weight-loss surgery or other extreme solutions...

Nothing helped release the weight until I started with Isagenix, when I dropped 20 lbs. the first month, and 60 over the following year... I believe this is because it really helped clean out the toxins that had piled up in my system over the years, impacting not only my physical health but also my emotional state and mental attitude.

Now I really see SparkPeople helping me to achieve undreamed-of (for many years) goals in my health and in the rest of my life, too. I am incredibly grateful to SparkGuy for creating this unique community.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

-Denise

I'm a former WW also. I actually did the WW program 3 times and every time I got close to goal weight I got pregnant! Being done after 3 kids I decided not to push fate so I didn't go back! LOL!!!

Pushing 40 now is taking a toll on me. I too have great goals that I would like to reach before then. Unfortunately for me 40 is less than 2 months away so I will have to accept that my weight goal is not going to happen by 40 so I have to make it my goal at 40!

Hi! I have been so busy checking out the rest of the site that I have just now made it over to my team! My name is Jennifer and I live in Florida. I am married but do not have children yet. I have been a Weight Watchers member off and on for 3 years and then I found SP and realized it was free and had a similar concept and similar tools! I love it!

I've been on here for about 9 days and missed this team completely. Since playing basketball in college 8 years ago, I have progressively gotten less active and put on the pounds. I'm here to lose the weight, and become more active through a lifestyle change instead of the yo-yo diets that I've tried. I'm looking to surround myself with people with similar goals and welcome you to come and visit my spark page, maybe we can encourage each other.

Hi! I am 38. I live on a small island in Croatia, Europe. Most of my life, I have bean fat. Ugly word I hear too often from people. Children openly, pointing at me, adults mostly try to hide the shock they get from the sight. I try to avoid mirrors. But when caught on camera...I myself can't believe what I look like.
And then there's my health. I was lucky not to have gotten anything else, like diabetes or a stroke or something. But I have hurt my leg years ago and due to my ever increasing weight, it has never healed. I developed thromboses on it instead.
I am hopeful now. And scared a lot! Because this decision to start losing weight came out of nowhere so to speak. I just woke up and said, I diet from now on.
Then I was refereed to SP. And my hope grew. This is a good place and I hope it helps. I have a long way to go. And I've only just started.
I would love help and to help others.
Thank you and good luck!
K.

Greetings! My name is Jennifer and I was born and raised in Texas. I'm 25 and a single mother to a beautiful three year old girl. I'm new to Spark but not the journey of weight loss. I've decided to buckle down and shed these extra pounds. I have about 80 pounds to lose. I look forward to communicating with everyone. It's awesome to be able to have a group that knows the battle...

Hi everyone. I started SP the 21st. So, this is day 6 for me. I am really excited about this site.

My name is Jayme. I am 39 years old. I live in TN. I am married (20 years this past March). I have 3 kids, 19, 17, and 14. And I have a grandson that's 2.

Before kids days, I didn't have a weight problem at all. It's been almost 20 years since my first one, and have not gotten my weight off. I was almost 20 when I had my first child. I (being young and niave) thought I was eating for 2. So I DID eat for two. And since then??? Just can't get the weight off.

I weigh 245. This is the biggest I have been even being pregnant. Sure, I've tried diets. But everytime I say I'm going to go on a diet, I start getting hungry for foods I haven't had in a while. Saying the word diet just makes me hungry. lol

But here at SP. It's not really a diet. It's learning to eat healthy and exercise. I LOVE this site.

Good luck to everyone on your journey!

Jayme from TN

Hey guys...headed into week two and just realized I'd missed this thread.

My name is Esther. I'm 29, married, mother of 2 boys (10 and 8). I work full-time for the state of West Virginia and attend full-time classes at WVSU (though not for long! I graduate May 16th!). I also work part-time freelance for the local paper. (I'm a busy girl.)

I've been overweight since the age of 5. Unlike many of my friends who have added poundage in the 11 years since high school, I DON'T know what it feels like to be thin. My entire family has struggled with weight, both my mother and my uncle have had gastric bypass surgery.

A few years ago, in an attempt to get surgery myself, I weighed in at 466.6. Shocker. Using a similar, but much smaller MSN Group, I lost 100 pounds and then leveled off for a while. After going back to school and getting that full-time job, I couldn't figure out how to balance anything and make time for myself. Then my pants started getting tight again and I thought "There is NO WAY I am buying a bigger size! NOPE!" I hit that wall and, somehow, wound up here.

Now one week down and I'm doing well. Learning a lot. Expanding upon the tools I used to reach that century club milestone before. I'm going to wake up each day and milk it for all it's worth - even if it means 3 10 minute walks on my breaks and when I get home. Even if I have to read pages of literary criticsm while lifting weights (you know, it's really hard to concentrate on either fully when you do this..."I hope that was 12...ah-well...one more just in case.." *lol*)

My SparkPeople Starting Weight: 416.6
My First Goal Weight: 266.6
(that's enough to think about for now...once I get there I can set another goal)

Short term goal: 365 (under that 100 I lost previously)

Hi everyone!
I am new (clearly) to the site but my battles with weight go on as far back in my past as I can remember.

I was doing well a few years ago, then injured myself. Now, somehow, I find myself with nearly 100 pounds to lose. My injury is healed and I am so tired of being this weight, being this heavy, and not doing this I want to do.

I love the fact that I can keep track of what I have actually done! I am also looking forward to finding a few buddies to make this part of my journey a blast! emoticon

I'm ELIMINATING pounds and inches, not 'losing' them, WOOT!

hi! I am new to SP, which is obvious since I'm in the April18-24 group! I just joined on Thursday because a friend of mine had started and said it was helping her. I usually can keep it going strong for a week or two, but then I lose my motivation. It's just so much easier to stay on my ass than it is to get up and get going!

It's been pretty disappointing for years that I can be accomplish what I want in other areas of my life but I can't seem to get my mind right in order to get my body in shape. I really hope that the Spark Teams, blogs, and trackers help me make the right choices, day in and day out.

Hi I'm Michelle, I'm 26 yrs old and I live in Ohio. I lost 12 pounds last year in preparation for my wedding but now that it has passed, I'm struggling to find the motivation to keep going. I'm hoping that joining SP will help me feel comfortable in my own skin again.

Hi I'm Ali, This isn't my first time on sparkpeople I lost 20-odd pounds last year but then I started university and it all went to hell,to put it midly, So now not only have I regained it all I'm 10lbs heavier then I was when I started in '09. As for long term goals I want to be healthy and toned and not feel like a giant marshmallow compared to the people I hang out with as well as increasing my concentration and work ethic to get all I can from my time at uni. And set me up for a healthy adulthood

Hi! I'm 33 years old and just had my first child in November. I gained 45 pouns while I was pregnant and hve only lost 20 pounds (i lost that in the first month) and have not been able to lose anymore. I am only 5'2" and petite framed, so 147 is not healthy for me. My husband and I would like to have more children and we would like to have them realtively close in age, so I need to lose some weight so I dont start my next pregnancy over weight. I'm ready to shed some of these extra pounds!

emoticon This is me - out of control!!
I have been overweight since probably 8 yr old. I am going on 43 and I really NEED to get it together. Ironically I am teaching a portion of a diet program at work {behvioral modification} As I was speaking the other day about negative thoughts and their influence on our actions - I thought.. hmm -always in the back of my head I think I am destined to be fat- so I try to lose - then I give up thinking what does it matter.
I am ready now to make changes and get this wt. off for good and live a healthy lifestyle - but I can't do it alone. So here I am sparkpeople HELLLPPPP!!

Hello,I am new to this sight. I found it yesterday browsing online hoping that I would find a FREE web site where I can get some tips on loosing some weight. So here I am. I am very confused about all of this calorie counting and am also on a very tight budget. I am very motivated to embrace a healthier lifestyle, and I will not give up. I just hope that my tight budget can help to assist weight loss. emoticon

Hi, I am a 27 yr old mom to 2 little boys, ages 1.5 and 2.5. I am a SAHM, I do billing/collections for my husbands business, and I am also a part time nursing student working towards becoming a lactation consultant.

I was always curvy, but at a healthy weight at 145 and lived an active life style as a preschool PE teacher. Through my first pregnancy I continued working out 6 days a week and maintained my healthy diet all the way to the end. I only gained 14 pounds! BUT I did not return to work, and I gained 50 pounds in 8 months and got pregnant again! I was up to 240 by the time my second son was born. He is 1.5 years old and I've been down and back up.

I discovered BABYFIT (and LOVED the support) during my first pregnancy and remembered some of the ladies talking about SPARKPEOPLE. I decided to join yesterday. My biggest obstacle is drinking mocha lattes and Dr.pepper all day, and one big meal at the end of the day often 9pm or later.

I'm stressed and ready for a change.

Hi, my name's Catriona and I'm living in the Big Apple. I've been unhappy with my weight for years but never wanted to spend all day every day worrying about what to eat and exercise. I guess if I do that for a little while now, then it will become a lifestyle change. I just moved back home from Ireland (after five years) and decided that I need to kick into shape before I settle into bad habits. I thought it would be easier but so far it's not (I've been home for two months). I've spend alot of time over the last few days exploring SparkPeople and so far I love it, here's hoping I keep it up! Good luck everyone.

Hi! I am Alicia. I am from Texas.

This week I decided to stop procrastinating on a lot of things, one being my weight loss. I have 2 very fun trips planned in the next few months that I will need to be in a swimsuit.

My mission is bikini body. I am only on Day 2, but so far so good. I have a meal and workout plan, and I mean business this time around.

Good Luck to everyone else on your goals! emoticon

Hello...

Once upon a time I was skinny and in shape but that was before my hysterectomy about a year ago. Activity was restricted and guess what happened next!

So here I am in an attempt to work off that surgery 'tummy' that I gained. I also want to be in shape for the summer camp season. Last summer I just dragged around and it was NOT fun.

My weight ticker says I only have ten pounds to loose. I should tell you that I have only ten pounds left. I was up to 156 pounds and when you are short there is no place to hide it! These last ten pounds are just so hard to get rid of.

My profile pic shows me on top of a small peak in Virginia. In the picure I got there via jeep. This summer I hope to walk the trail up there.

Good luck to all of you in your journey.

I'm up early in the morning to workout and I am motivated to make up for last nights blunder with good eating today. No one's perfect...we can do it despite ourselves. Can I get a woot woot?!!

Hi ya! I hope everyone's having a nice day :).. I'm here to introduce myself.. so here goes: I'm 21 from Malta - name's Steph :). I am currently working as a full time Secretary and I study Child Psychology part time. I'm also hoping to finish my piano diploma as soon as possible as I want to start teaching piano =)

I don't know how many times I've written this ... but yeah, here I am again... this is my millionth attempt to getting healthy! I'm currently obese and I am basically fed up of being out of breath every time I go up a few stairs, of clothes being too tight, of myself looking like a huge elephant in photos, of my lack of self-confidence! I AM SIMPLY FED UP!

My problem is that I always start my diet with a lot of motivation but by the end of the 1st week, I begin craving junk food and all the yummy stuff - and since I have no will power, I end up eating like a pig like I always do. I hope this team will help me get in the right mindset. I really NEED to lose weight!

So here we go.. 22.04.10 marks my first day which will hopefully lead to a new, slim, and confident ME! :D

Good luck to all of you out there! :))

Hi, I'm Diane. Six years ago I lost 24 pounds and managed to keep most of it off until I went back to grad school 3 years ago. With trying to work full time and go to school part time, I stopped finding time to exercise and the pounds started to creep back slowly. Then I had extensive dental work that dragged on for 33 months which limited my ability to eat crunchy foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. The result--more pounds back--19 altogether. Back in August 2009, I said enough is enough. I hired a personal trainer so I would commit to exercising at least twice a week. So far I've missed only one appointment--because of a dental surgery. And I finished my dental work on March 29, so I can eat healthy foods again. Now I'm eager to start dropping the weight I've gained back and to keep my commitment to exercising. I look forward to your support!

Hey! My name is Mandi. I had lost almost 70 lbs in the last 2 years but then I got severe plantars fascicious and hadn't been allowed to excercise since last August, then they decded to do surgery. I just got released for walking and exercising last week and discovered I had gained back 27 of the pounds I had lost. I was devistated and ready to give up on myself all together. I hope I can make connections here to help me..The biggest goal for me would be to get under 200 pounds. Last year I got as low as 206 and then I started gaining again. I can't believe I did that to myself! It makes me mad at myself. I want this to be the year that I get under 200. It has been 5 years since I was under 200 pounds. :(

But I'm committed to eating healthier on a consistent basis. I did a Daniel fast at the beginning of the year...so I know it's possible. Glad to be apart of the community!!!

CHRISMIDD, great job with the workouts! you are winning half the battle already! I need to get motivated like that. I did walk for an hour this morning and that's a big step in the right direction ...and the eating healthy is going well. I'm down 4 pounds in 10 days...slow and steady.

I am Christina, mother of 6 and 3 year olds. I have been wanting to lose weight for a while, but keep shoving food in my mouth. So, out of nowhere a open house invite to a new gym came in the mail. We went and were blown away and decided to join. Now within a week, I have jumped hogwild on the weight loss journey. I have been to the gym 6 out of the last 9 days and feel pretty good about that. Now I need to balance nutrition - I think I forgot how to eat well - with support. So here I am ready to motivate and be motivated!

I think an introduction is in order. Jaki1027 is my oldest daughter. I'm so excited to have her on this journey with us. She is away at school about a 5 1/2 hour drive from home and I miss her so being able to share this journey means a lot to me.

There are so many new members emoticon and I'm so excited! I hope everyone gets chatty on the general discussion threads. Ask your questions on the Q&A thread so they don't get missed in all the postings.

I'm so glad to meet everyone. Good luck and take care of you! emoticon

Hi, my name's Jackie, im 20. I go to college at SUNY Plattsburgh and I'm a junior. Out of college i live at home in Farmingdale, NY (with Carol- HI MOM!)

All through highschool I ate junk food 24/7 and stayed skinner then you could imagine. Now im regretting it. Not learning how to eat healthy before college has doomed me. I weighed between 120 and 130 until college. I now weigh in at 180. and would like to get down to 140. It's hard and i've tried to do it a few times but always give up.

I don't want to give up this time. I'm on the Special K challenge and so far its been working for me. I'm never hungry because I can eat all the fruits and vegetables i want in between meals.

I joined SP a long time ago but didn't stick to it. I plan to keep track of everything on here.

Nice to meet everyone :) I know we can help each other through this.

Hi, my name is Shannon. I'm going to be 20 in less than 2 weeks. I've been off and on Spark since I was 18, usually can't stick to it for very long.

I find I have a weak will when it comes to resisting junk food, over healthier food I'd have to fix. It also doesn't help when your parents buy junk food that only you like. emoticon

I use to bounce around between 180 and 185, but now I'm creeping ever closer to 200. :( My goal is to get down to 140.

It's nice to meet you all. :)

Hi! I'm Brandi and I'm 23 years old. I've been married for almost 4 years. I'm a stay at home mom to my 2 year old son and my 1 month old daughter. I have lost all my pregnancy weight, but I'm really not happy with myself and wasn't before I got pregnant either. I'm tired of having to squeeze my jeans on and trying to find something to wear that doesn't make me look "fat". I'm really excited to get started and can't wait to start losing some weight!

Hi. I have been doing Weight Watchers since the fall and lost 12 pounds. Work got very busy for a couple of months. I was able to maintain the weight loss but find the site boring. I don't go to meetings -- not my style. I do like this site much better. My husband has lost about 40 pounds and has inspired me. We want to grow old together and I need to do my part. I am 45 with no kids. We do have a very old cocker spaniel who is quite dear to me.

Forget skinny. I'm training to become a bad ass.

Hi my name is Kimberly and I live in Arkansas, but am originally from Nebraska. I am 23 years old and married with no children. I am currently going to school to be an elementary teacher. I am here because I have gained a lot of weight and have been yoyoing up and down for a long time now. I need to make a life long change and stick with it. I am sick and tired of being this heavy. Me and my husband bought a boat last fall and now that it is getting warmer that is where we spend our weekends. I hate the way I look in a swimsuit so my goal is to shed some pounds so I dont look horrible all summer long. My husband also has his 10 year class reunion this July and I do not want to be as heavy as I am now.

Hi! I'm Hilary. I'm 26 years old and had a baby, my precious little boy Robbie, 8 weeks ago. I completely let my diet go while I was pregnant, and gained 50 pounds as a result. (well, some of it was borderine pre-eclamspia swelling, but a lot of it was my poor eating). I'm down about 35 pounds from delivery, so I have 15 pounds to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. I'd like to lose another 15 pounds after that.

I used SparkPeople 5 years ago before my wedding with great results, so I'm back here again. I have no idea what my screename was or anything, so I've started over. I look forward to getting to know you all, and good luck to every one!

Hi! I'm Satya. I've always been on the heavier side but ever since I stopped playing football & basketball I've just let go. I've always had halfhearted weight loss plans but now i really want to know what it's like to run like I've always wanted to, wear whatever I want and most of all show myself I have determination despite all the failed precious attempts. Hi, I am married to a wonderful man, we have 2 grown children and a daughter-in-law. We live in Western Massachusetts. My health is now being compromised by my weight, I am a pre-diabetic. I now have a bad back that I am going to physical therapy for. My job is very stressful and to cope, I eat. It is essential that I change this destructive lifestyle. Wish me luck.

Welcome to SP Lorie! And congrats on coming to realize your addicition. Many of us have trouble making that first step toward getting help. You're very brave for jumping in. SP is a great place to make friends and there are many teams you can join that deal with emotional eating (and many other issues). Poke around the SparkTeams to find some that you like and make new friends.

I look forward to our journey together.

Good luck. Take care of you!

~Carol

Hi,

I'm Lorie; married mom of three beautiful, healthy children (15,14,8) and two dogs. You will see a picture of Hooch our Australian Shepherd on my SparkPage. Hoochie is my best friend. I had a rude (welcomed) awakening last August which has changed my life. While on this forced journey though I have come to realize that I am addicted to emotional eating and do not have the skills to cope with emotional eating. (I have joined the appropriate group for that support.) I have also come to learn that one can never have too many supportive friends and I am hoping to build new relationships. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you on my journey.

Hello everyone. My name is Carol. Jacquie and I are very excited about being your team leaders.

Here's a little bit about me. I live in New York, USA. I have been married to a wonderful man (who has never had to lose weight) for 19 years. I have 3 children, ages 15, 16, and 20. I have a lot of weight to lose and my biggest obstacle is me. I'm determined to get healthy.
