Welcome back! There are a few of us that check in semi-regularly. When life allows - lol!!

I am doing okay with nutrition right now, Although I need to routinely get my freggies in. My major struggle is exercise. I just started a 90 walking program. I am going to make this stick!!

I am still here... actually, I am just this week back from a year long hiatus. I have gained 8 lbs since my last weigh in here, but actually I am pretty proud of that figure given the circumstances of this last year involving job loss, divorce and a move across the state. 8 lbs isn't too bad in the face of all that, considering that I am an emotional eater! I feel that the healthy habits I picked up in my time here helped me keep that under control. The last time I fell I gained everything back to the tune of 40lbs!!

This is now the 3rd time I've picked myself up and dusted myself off. This time I am going to make it work! I have a bigger goal in mind... IVF! If I am spending that much money I want to make sure that I create the best chance for success in my own healthy body. I still need to lose about 50 lbs to be at goal weight, but I know that I will be healthy and comfortable in about 30 lbs lost. We'll see how it goes!

Excited to be back, and happier still that I am not the only one left out of that orignal group!

I am trying to get back on track after a pretty stressful year. My son was diagnosed with some neurological disorders that are effecting his ability to learn. Outwardly he looks like ADHD or simply a brat. But we are knee deep in occupational and psychological therapy to help him over some of the issues and to learn to deal with the rest. I am home schooling him during this time - which has effectively derailed me.

This year I need to find out how to balance my own health needs with his needs so I can continue to make progress.

I'm here, or I should say, I'm back! I come and go. Do good, then slide, then come back again, probably like most of us! As for where I'll be in a year...Who knows! I'm just trying to put one foot in front of the other! Good luck to all of us! emoticon emoticon

I am still here!! My husband and I are in San Francisco right now (instead of Arizona) so I am trying to do a LOT of walking. Will give a full update next week when we are home and getting back into our regular groove.

That's awesome, congrats on the upcoming wedding.

I'm still here as well but my story is opposite. I did really well the first year. I started at 238 pounds and was 190 by November. The next year I had some set backs but still managed to get down to 184, the lowest I've been since having kids. That's when I let everyone & everything get in my way. I delt with some serious emtional issues & kept telling myself it's ok, it's only a few pounds. Then I started with atleast I'm not back over 200 pounds. When I hit 200 I just quite weighing myself. Christmas I got sick & decided to see how much damage I had really done, I weighed 225 but instead of letting that get me down I decided to get up. I still can't do much because of this cough, I can't breathe or have hot flashes that are so bad I feel like I'm going to pass out but I am happy to say I'm down 5 pounds since Christmas. 220 not great but I'm on my way AGAIN! So 18 pounds from the beginning and praying this will be my year!

I'm still here!! Hard to believe it's been 3 years!

I didn't take this seriously whent I started, and it showed. Since then I've gotten serious, learned ALOT on my journey, and so far have lost 40 pounds. I'm getting married in 2014, and I would like to lose another 40 pounds this year at a minimum. It's not about how I look, it's about how I feel.

I'm a type 2 diabetic, so every pound gone is that much closer I can get to being medication free. So I definitely have motivation on my side, since I hate taking pills!

I am not doing this alone anymore. My fiance, Plex, joined SP when I was first diagnosed with diabetes, and he's lost weight and sizes too! It's great having someone in the house with me that is just as motivated to be healthier as I am!

Hi friends, I'm reviving this topic to the top of our list because it seems an appropriate time to re-introduce ourselves - new year, new enthusiasm, new commitment - all the 'new' stuff that will help us get where we really want to be!!

I'll start - I travel under the name of Lilybelle 8 - only because all of the other names I had in mind were already taken! Started with Spark People January 13, 2010 - which is a date that is easy to remember because the 13th is also my birthday. I started at 166 pounds, and for the next two years took two steps forward, one step back. Not an ideal way to reach my goal of losing 18-20 pounds, and even though my eating/exercise behavior is best described as 'fitful' - I lose, then I gain, then I lose, then I gain ...and today I'm about 30% closer to my goal than I would have been without Spark People. Not excellent, but much better than what it would have been had I been on my own for the past 3 years!

I'm a 'reluctant' team leader for several reasons: 1) I'm reluctant to let our SP Class of January 10-16, 2010 fall into the cyberspace 'black hole' and 2) I'm a reluctant leader because I'm not really creative about 'team' stuff. So my leadership style is to keep our team site alive by posting occasionally, and hoping that the rest of you will do the same. There are some amazing people on this team, and those amazing people have done some amazing things and accomplished some amazing goals - with weight, health, and life in general. My hope would be that we will begin again to share those amazing stories so the rest of us can become amazing as well!!!

So - the stage is yours - let's hear what amazing things you've done, you do, and you will do as we march toward our 3rd anniversary in just 3 weeks!!! Can you believe we've been here for 3 years already? Now that is truly amazing!

Happy New Year - Amazing New Beginnings to all of us!! ~ Lily

Good morning!

I joined SparkPeople at the recommendation of a friend a couple years ago. I fell off the weight loss wagon a while back and am struggling to get back on. I figured getting back into the SparkPeople program would help me focus on a healthier lifestyle.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I am coming back to this team in a manner of speaking. When I first joined Spark, I didn't talk to anyone, and I really didn't utilize all the tools available. This year I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes, so I spent alot of time on boards for that and have been making some progress here (lost 26pounds total since the end of June).

I am once again recommiting myself to this team. I can and I will be successful!

I feel better knowing people take "breaks" due to life and no one seems to judge :) I took a break due to a personal tragedy and I'm now back and recommitted. I have a serious goal in mind now. I turn *29* this year! I cant be 29 and 200+ lbs! IMPOSSIBLE :) So new year, new goal, better attitude. Its good to be back :)

Hi! I'm one of the delinquent 23,000 members of this team who has not been active for the last year. I check in but haven't been taking part. Fact is, I started strong last year but didn't manage to carry it through and I'm back at my starting point. I've been reading the message boards and want to thank everyone for the encouraging posts. I know I'm the only one that can make this work for me and, with the support of the team, I mean to make this a better year, health-wise.

Hi Mandi - when I read your post to the team, it convinced me again that Spark Teams are just like big families - and when a long-lost relative stops by, it just makes the family that much better. So - thanks for showing up, and we'll just look for you when we see you. Slowly - some days, REALLY SLOWLY, but surely we're getting our family together.

Oh, and good job on the weight loss!! Now what about some of you other 26,000 (that is a very big number, too big to just disappear) sparkers. Let's hear from you so we can celebrate!!

Hi, my name is Mandi and I have a confession...I have NEVER even in the beginning been active on this team. emoticon whew, feel better now! I think my join date is the 13th maybe? I set a very ambitious goal of 100 pounds in a year. I lost 25 right off the bat and then started struggling mid year. I ended up gaining back 5lbs. While I didn't meet my goal I agree with another by saying if not for Spark I wouldn't have lost any or made the changes I have. My struggles continued and I rededicated myself Jan 5th of this year and I'm almost at 30lbs total lost.

In the beginning I didn't do anything with teams. Probably because I joined way too many and just couldn't keep up. Then I found the BLC challenges and I'm in my second round. I deleted all of the teams but the BLC and this team. I couldn't make myself delete this one for some reason but still never came around. I've been seeing the team e-mails lately and kept making mental note to stop by. So, here I am! I can't make any promises to how often you will see me on the threads as my internet time is limited and BLC takes a lot of that time. But, I will do my best!

For 23 some thousand members, it still doesn't seem like a very active place though! Where is everyone?

It is just like a family reunion when someone returns, or someone posts after a long dry spell. And we all celebrate in our own way when this happens. I'm thrilled to meet new friends, and talk again to old friends (not "old" as in old, but "old" as in long-time") So thanks for adding to my own motivation and determination to make this my best year yet - and to remain active myself on Spark. Talk to you ALL later!

Hello, team. Like a lot of you, I started out strong. I think I was up to 26 pounds lost in June and that's when I started slacking off. I started dating someone (a skinny guy!) and he started taking up my SparkPeople time. I've gained back about 6 lbs and this is where that stops! I have 3 months to get my blood sugars and A1C down or I have to go on medication. That is NOT an option for me so i am back at it hard. My short term goal is to lose 20 lbs by my birthday (Easter Sunday!) and another 20 by the end of August. Although it is time-consuming and I don't like doing it, I am back to tracking my food intake and it DOES make a big difference. Three days and counting now and I've stayed in my ranges. I am shooting for 30 minutes of exercise/cardio at least 5 days a week. I downloaded some weight loss hypnosis tapes and I'm going to try them for a while. I'm going to reread The Spark. Determined to make it work this time. Hope everyone else is too!!

Happy Sparking team!!

Hello SPClass Jan.10-16, 2010. I have been neglecting this team, got busy else where and put all my attention there, but I hope to remedy that. I'm still here, plugging away at my goals. Wishing all of you continued good health and positive energy!

Oh my, its been long enough... I feel like I need to reintroduce myself.

I am a university student, presently working on after-degree stuff. I joined spark people last year in January, to support a friend who joined in her weight loss efforts. I did very little in terms of sparking, because my priority was school. In summer, I sparked more seriously and lost 17 pounds!! When school started back up, I moved to a different school REALLY far away from home (more than the previous 12 hour drive). My housing circumstances was sketch (I eventually moved), I had troubles with my educational goals/ advisors, and all and all did not spend enough time tracking my food. So I gained around 10 pounds back. Starting this year January, I have decided I really want to loose those 10 pounds again (and maybe some after that too).

I really need support. School is very expensive and the first step for my career, so it is my number one priority. Loosing the weight and getting a healthy lifestyle is a close second. But that is my problem. I often neglect my nutrition & fitness, especially during midterms (when I also tend to run out of food, cause I don't have time to go on a shopping trip). Studying throws me into mindless eating. How can I stop the mindless eating OR how can I incorporate my nutrition goals into my academic goals so that I pay both equal respect?

Wow, that was a huge personal revelation, just putting it out there in words. Anyway, I'm here for me now and I'd like to be more active in the team. Thanks for reading (if you're still with me)

Lily - I think you are a little bit right! So far the coldest morning walk I've taken was at -2 and there is a great deal of snow here - not quite 4 feet but we are covered with it nonetheless.. more coming today... I find it enjoyable but then again I have a dog to motivate me!

Hello everyone. emoticon

I don't remember the exact date that I joined last year, and I no longer remember my goal. I lost about 15 lbs, but then got sick and couldn't do much so I put it back on. But I have managed to lose 10 lbs again, and those 10 lbs seemed to come off during the holidays. I have no idea why, but I accept it.

Even though I haven't lost much weight I do feel better, I am going to the gym on a regular basis. I am eating healthier and know that 2011 is going to be a great year.

This past year has been wonderful! I lost 25 pounds in the first 6 months, and have lost around 5 or so since then... I started running regularly when I started on SparkPeople and last Sunday I ran the Disney World Marathon! A year ago I swore that would never do a marathon and now I can't wait to do another... my original goal was to lose 33 pounds and just get healthy - I have lost around 30 and would like to lose 5 - 10 more, but I am off of my cholesterol meds which was goal number one...

I can't wait o see what year two will bring!

Fmrees - you are absolutely right - walking is a great way to start, but when our weather is in the sub-zero temps and we have more than 4 feet of snow covering everything, I just can't quite get motivated to walk outdoors - but now that sounds like an excuse to me, so I'll opt for indoor walking until Mother Nature gets over this "fit" she is having right now. Put me in, coach - I'm ready!!! Thanks - Lily

Lillybelle -
your body needs carbs for energy and fuel to burn so don't go too low..
and not to worry about being on the bench - get up and join the game.. walking is a great way to start!

Have a good year 2!

Happy Sparkversary Teresa! Is there some sort of activity you can do with your kids that will help you up your exercise?

Hello,
My Sparkversary is 1/13 and I have managed to lose 45 pounds of the 70 pound goal that I set for myself. I am still reaching for that goal, it seems I have hit my "plateau" for the last couple of months. I have been losing around a pound a week for the last month. I am trying to step up my exercise, which I think is my problem. I don't have enough time in the day to fit it in. Working and being a mom, wife, and keeping the household running is alot (as most of us know). Exercise is hard for me to work into my schedule.I am so glad that I found SparkPeople! Good luck to everyone and I know that we are going to have a very successful year ahead of us. emoticon Teresa

Hi,
It's been one year! I did GREAT the first 6 months of last year, then began to straddle the wagon. emoticon

I have been trying to get re-motivated since July of last year. Some weeks have been better than others. One thing I am happy about is that I have maintained a major portion of the weight I lost during the first 6 months.

This week, I re-dedicate myself. I am exercising. Now, I need to get the eating back under control.

I nearly halfway to my goal. I intend to reach my goal within the first 6 months of 2011. In fact, I intend to lost 15 pounds by Feb 22, 2011. (If I don't, I won't beat myself up. I just want to challenge myself in my re-dedication). emoticon

Standing in my intention.
Being mindful every minute.
I know what to do.
I've done it before.
I am doing it again! emoticon

I AM DOING THIS!!!!! It's about Mindfulness and PROGRESS, not perfection. Being aware, at every moment, of what my goal is and how the current action is helping me reach that goal.....that is the key to success.

Hi - I want to join this team on my one-year anniversary with SP. This past year has only yielded a 10 pound loss, but without Spark People, I know it would have been a 10-pound gain - so I think even though successful isn't exactly the right word, I am better today than I was a year ago. I got off to a slow start, and have struggled a little to get back in the game since about October - but now think that I have my second-wind, along with enough personal courage to get really serious about creating a better, healthier me. So, I'll be looking for motivation, and reading about all of the rest of you having success and good suggestions.

I lean toward the low-carb dieting plans - not specifically any plan, but restricting carbs when and where I can. I also have come to the conclusion that I am a "snacker" and am still learning how to manage that. So - here I am on the "bench" of the team and will actively look for ways to get into the game with the rest of you! ~ Lily

Hello all, I'm Susie! I'm sorry I'm a little late at rejoining the group; this past week has been rather crazy for me. I'm glad to see everyone back here, though, and hear about your successes. In my year here I know I've had some months that were much more productive than others, but overall I've lost about 15 lbs (which in my opinion hasn't made enough of a difference in my appearance or clothing sizes, but I know it's a nice start and my grandmother told me I looked thinner the other day, so I guess I must be doing something right.) Most importantly, though, I learned why I wasn't losing weight in my previous, independent attempts. The food tracking has been so useful for me, as I learned that I had completely destroyed my metabolism by skipping meals all the time, oops! But this site is keeping me honest and making me eat like a normal person now. Anyway, it's great to see how much this site has helped everyone and I hope it will continue to do so for all of us. Best of luck to everyone in year number 2!

No other road, no other way, no day but today!

Hi... My name is Gretchen... and I'm a Spark-a-holic...
I joined on 1/10/2010, made my goals for my 25th HS reunion in July, and then promptly slowed the eating good part for a while. I gained about 5 of the 30 lbs. that I lost and did manage to not gain any weight between Thanksgiving and New Years (big Woo Hoo there!!). I'm back on track. Started at a gym 3 weeks ago. Eating better. 40 more lbs. to go!! I CAN DO THIS!!! And YOU can too!!!

Since I joined SparkPeople last year I have lost almost 15 pounds and I have managed to keep it off. I still have more to go, and I hope that this year I will be able too. I am already trying to eat better and drink more water. As far as exercising right now I don't have the space to do much, because I am living in a 5th wheel camper while we attempt to work on our house, but that has been stopped due to lack of funds. I am a stay at home mom of 2, one boy and one girl, plus I am also going back to college myself.

It's been almost a year now since I discovered SP.

I joined to help me decrease my weight and increase my health and longevity. When I joined I was in Nursing school and I made some healthy and lasting changes to the way I eat but they didn't really result in weight loss. I was actually really happy that my SP involvement managed to keep me from GAINING weight since I am a stress eater. My RN program was accelerated - so I have had pretty much nothing but stress for the last 16months, well, that and no sleep :). I am studying for my state board exam and can't wait to have that last hurdle complete so I can focus more on my health.

I am married - 6yrs with a son -5yrs. My biggest health challenges are exercising regularly and finding something I actually like to do on an ongoing basis. The 2nd biggest is getting that emotional or opportunistic eating under control.

Hope to see a lot more of everyone! Welcome back to the fold!

Since I joined SP on Jan. 12 last year, I have lost 40 pounds, shrunk by 4 inches each waist and hip, invested in a wardrobe of belts, and finally gave in and replaced my size 18 pants with size 14s. I got tired of clothes that didn't fit! I also started running in preparation for the half marathon I promised myself for my 40th birthday. That comes at the end of this February and I'm both excited and scared. I ran in four 5Ks last year and was just hitting my stride, feeling confident and halfway through half marathon training when I was sidelined with tendinitis in my ankle, followed by knee pain. I'm finally able to run again, and am just about where I left off pre-injury. I have a lot less time to prepare for my half, but I also have a lot of determination to see this through.

One other thing I've done in the past year with Spark People is meet a heck of a lot of really great, supportive, and inspiring people! Sticking with SP and returning every time my commitment faltered helped me get where I am today, and I am immensely grateful for that!

I lost 25 pounds early last year, but now I am back up 208.

Today is my day to get started right for the new year. I have just started a 4 week fitness program with my new Biggest Loser Wii game. I completed the full body 23 min work out plus added the warm up and cool down.

I am back on the wagon and going to take it one day at a time. I am glad to see our team get up and running again.

Blessings!

Hi SP class! Although I only lost 6 lbs. last year, I have learned a lot and I have to resolve to work on my goals this year. I did go on a 3 week cruise without gaining, and although I had a 4 lb. gain through the holiday's; I have now lost it and only 4 lbs. is monumental for me. The most important thing I had learned from Sparkpeople is to set goals, use support and talk kindly to yourself. I think I had to really learn these things before I could move forward. Good luck to everyone in 2011. Thanks Faye for picking up the team! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hey SP Class. I joined the 9th of last year. Not much has changed as far as weight. I got down to 264, then I got sick and fell out of the habit of working out. Now, I'm going to start the year off right, and get to my goal of losing from 50-100 pounds.

Make Today Count!!!

Hi team,
I have re-evaluated my goals after learning a lot this year, and changed my initial goal from loosing 38 pounds, to loosing between 23 and 28 pounds. That's the "range" I'm aiming at. I have lost 18 pounds by September - it was SO exciting and I felt GREAT!! Then, I caught pneumonia about 2 months ago. I am still working at recovering which means no physical activity at all (its so frustrating - I can't even explain it) and my meds are making me constantly hungry (weird, I know). So, I have gained back 12 pounds :-( I am really looking forward to being well and giving this another go. At least this time, I'll be familiar with the site and how things work :-)
Let's do it team!!

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. - Philippians 4:13

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Hi, Everyone,
I, like RIVERCITYTOM and FMREES, lost weight (over 35 pounds) in the first 6 months. I decided to pretty much maintain in the summer and recently have lost a couple more pounds. The past few weeks have been a little harder. School was closed and not being in my routine made it a little harder.
Well it's nearly a year since I joined and I am renewing my efforts. I am just over halfway to my goal and I want to reach it. (It's still over my ideal weight, but not too far off and it seems a realistic goal at this point.)
Looking forward to continuing with Spark and sharing all our successes.
Let's go, Team. We can do it! emoticon emoticon

Hey Everyone, Its almost a year. What a year (Not to sound like one of those Christmas letters)it has been filled with new foods, new experiences, and a better health.

I guess I am outnumbered as I am one of the few males that are blogging on SP. I have learned a lot. I love to Cook and the recipe section is most informative.

My Journey has been one to get off to a healthier lifestyle. I took the first half of the year to lose 60 lbs. The second half maintaining that loss. The New year will be getting back on the losing track. I have met many folks in many areas of the US and abroad.

It has been a great journey, thanks you all for being on it with me. Lets make the next 12 months count. Happy Anniversary to you all.

Hi there! I'll celebrate my sparkversary on the 10th. I wish I could say that I made a lot of progress, but I haven't. I've lost 6 pounds, and most of that in November when I was home for three weeks with my sick twins. I lost because I only ate what they ate while they were awake - the BRAT diet.

My issue has been a battle against my own attitude. I'm stubborn and will take an opposite stance on anything if someone suggests to me that I do something. ("Yes, yes I WILL eat that 3rd donut, and maybe I'll have a 4th, so there!") So, I'm overweight, and I know what I SHOULD do, but I WON'T! How is that for self-defeating?! LOL

My resolution for this year is to change my attitude. If I can do that, I think this weight loss goal will be a piece of cake by comparison!

Congrats to all of you who have made good progress this last year, and I wish you continued success in your goals!

I believe I joined the 15th. A year ago I never would have thought I would be so hooked on exercising! I didn't make my original weight goal, but I am still committed to doing so. I love having to get rid of the too big clothes and buying new although I try not to go overboard with hope that what I buy now will be gone by the end of this year.

Hi there, Not sure of the exact date I joined but a year ago I was in bed with a broken leg and access to the Internet at home for the first time via a dongle. We live on a boat and have no landline so it wasn't possible to get on the Web before. I discovered this amazing site and still find it wonderful that you can talk to people thousands of miles away (I'm in the UK). I was told to stop smoking and drinking to aid my recovery and for 6 months I was very good. As soon as the hospital signed me off, however, I went straight back to my bad old ways. Crazy. It was a difficult year in many ways and the worst bit was when my husband was admitted to hospital suffering with an enlarged heart. He is now stable on a cocktail of tablets and we have managed to enjoy ourselves with touring England in a caravan we bought as soon as he was well. We also pulled in a cruise to the Caribbean in December which was fabulous. When he was so ill I lost 21 pounds but regained 7 afterwards. I am steady at 140 pounds but ideally I should like to lose another 14 pounds (ideally I'd like to be as thin as a stick but at 62years old is there really any point?). The main thing is I must get off the ciggies. I am smoking my Duty Free and then I hope that will be that.
Faye - well done for taking on the leadership of the group. Also, I visited your page and love your dog. I hope you get to walk the Appalachian Way - sorry if I mis-spelt that. It sounds, as you say over there, AWESOME!! You have done wonderfully well to lose 40 pounds in a year. All the best with your leadership. I have a suggestion to make and that is a thread where people can come on and just have a chat. There may already be one that I didn't spot but if not, it does create a constant stream of easy talk.
So now I'd like to wish everyone of my year-old Sparkers a very happy New Year and I wish you success with all your goals. Diane emoticon

Its been close to a year since we all joined the Spark. How are you? Where are you in your journey??

My date is the 15th - my goal was to lose about 80 pounds this year and I lost only about half of that. However I am feeling so much better than I was! I am walking 2.5-3 miles a day aerobically, wearing clothes I haven't worn in close to 10 years and have more energy.

How goes it for you?
