Take this first week to familiarize yourself with the tools here. Once you get used to using them, it becomes easier to use them even when you are busy. Personally, I spent my first week learning to use the tools, and just tracking everything I was already eating and doing for exercise. It gave me a baseline to work from. It also gave me a chance to really decide what my goals were, and how to get there.

You can not change yesterday - it's done.
You can only dream of tomorrow.
The only day you can change is today.
What are you going to do today to reach your goals of tomorrow?
It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it GREAT

There are two options regarding committment - your either IN or your OUT. There is no such thing as life in-between.
A person who wants something will find a way..
A person who doesn't will find an excuse...
I understand the feeling about exercise. I feel better when I do it but getting up and doing it is not easy to do. I am looking forward to this challenge to get back in the habit and establish a new routine for the new year and I plan to continue past the end of the month.
We can do this and we are here to cheer each other on.
HAVE NO FEAR!! Your sparkteam is here!!
I am in the same boat - together we can make this happen!!
2010 is my year to try it again!
I know what you mean, Carleewithak. I initially lost about 40 pounds by using SparkPeople, but then I needed gall bladder surgery and ended up gaining it all back and some. Here's hoping to new progress...

Welcome back! Maybe with encouragement here and the new exercise ideas you will find something you like to do and you will learn to love to exercise. Just finding something you like that keeps you moving. Good luck!
Welcome back and yes exercise is a pain to do, pain to fit into my schedule but sooo necesary. Hopefully boot camp will provide the extra motivation
Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

I'm with you! I don't normally feel motivated to excercise, even though I know I'll feel better about myself afterwards. I've been on Sparkpeople for about a year and initially lost 15 lbs, but then life got crazy and I have gained back 4 in the past few months with the holidays. I'm starting fresh and hope to lose a pound a week for the next few months, and I hope that this will get me started!
A gentle kick in the you know what to help you get motivated. There is a whole team here and others that are willing to support and help motivate you on, but if you don't check in there is not much one can do. I had to check in daily with one group to keep me motivated and this helped me to find FUN exercises.

I am getting ready for the Y now. I try to break everything (exercise, tracking food, etc.) down to "just keep doing the next right thing." This keeps it from becoming overwhelming.

Im with you! looking forward to the start of this bootcamp... hoping it will jumpstart me again!
I have belonged to SparkPeople for a couple of years but need to renew my effort. I don't enjoy exercise and need a kick in the pants to keep me going. I hope Bootcamp will be that kick.
