Did you ever find a way to track sugar grams on sparkpeople. It has all kinds of nutrients to track but not sugar. How can I do the Jorge cruise diet counting sugars with sparkpeople? Please help.

Hope Brings Light.

Just joined this team because I started the BFC Fast Track on Monday, May 20th. It's actually pretty easy to follow the diet and I haven't been very hungry since I started it. I did have a lot of cravings for sweet foods on day 3 but just ate more and got through it.

Anyone actively using this diet now?

Dear GRACETOPEACE,

Jorge wrote a book with sugar carbs to look up foods since a lot of labels don't include sugar.

I like the fast track better because I don't have to track the carbs since my food is low in sugar. There's a new twist coming out with the 100 book that tracks sugar calories instead of sugar grams.

To calculate your sugar calories take the TOTAL carbohydrate grams (which are the real total sugar grams) and multiply by 4 = sugar calories.
You get 100 sugar calories per day (or less).
It's the secret explained in the new and most important book Jorge wrote and is coming out May 21st. You can preorder it now to save some money. (The 100 book)

I started my fast track BFC cure again and lost 9 lbs. in 6 days. I know it's a lot of water weight, but it sure gives me a jump start and I'm not hungry enough to stray from my new diet. Here's hoping to encourage you not to look further for another diet. emoticon

Hi all. I have been a member of sparkpeople for 5 years...and I just have struggled with my weight all the way. I have tried numerous diets...including weight watchers....and have had some success but I always strayed...My sis introduced me to the BFC 2 months ago. I wasn't interested at that time but have been watching her. She has lost 30lbs to date on this. So I decided 2 weeks ago to try it out. I have so far lost 12lbs and 2 inches. So very encouraging to me! I can't wait to see how this goes!

It will be great to get to know you all.

I've got the BFC book and have read it. Excited to get started. I have a huge database of food with Sparkpeople, but CAN NOT figure out how to track the sugars??? I see the carbs, but not the sugar. Can anyone help me with this? I don't want to start over with my food journaling on a different site. :(

First Timer on BFC .

Started on Jan 4th when I downloaded the IPAD app after seeing Jorge videos and reading a few blogs.

Was 8 Sugars over day one and suffered withdrawals for the first 2 days but now I feel better.

Reminds me of the 4 hour diet but has more flexibility. Having similar first week results and am feeling renewed with hope. I have also included 40 minute of elliptical 5 days a weeks and plan to do strength training soon. My meeting with a consultant is tomorrow to make me an exercise plan.

I am a 54 year old man ... 250 starting weight on Jan 4th. Jan 8th - 246

Hoping to gain support, knowledge and understanding from this group :)

I'm new. My second time doing the BFC and when it popped back into my mind I thought "why did I ever quit? It works so well!" So, here we go again. I need to get back into the "I don't eat that" mindset.

Joining Team today...
I followed the BFC for quite a while and was very successful on it, (losing about 35 lbs) but about 2 years ago at Thanksgiving, I started eating whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, and slowly, gradually, gained back all of it plus more.... Yesterday I started on his SLIM HAPPY BELLY menu. I am hoping to stick to it and get back down to a HEALTHY weight again... A whole new wardrobe awaits in my closet:)

That is exactly what I have been doing for years.....and gaining weight while switching back and forth. So, I did this BFC for a week and lost 6 pounds. Then, to be honest, got stressed and ate some things I shouldn't have eaten for 2 days...had sugar. Too much candy around on Halloween. I've got to remember that once I slip, it's gonna be 2 days before I get back on. I haven't weighed so I don't know how much I gained back. I'll weigh this weekend after a few days of eating right. I don't want to get discouraged. Now, today, Nov. 1st, I'm starting again. This plan is kind of perfect for people like us because we CAN have SOME carbs. A slice of toast with my eggs, a little rice with my chicken, etc. makes a big difference for me. Even some berries or a little of certain fruits can be worked in. I've spent some time looking on fast food sites to figure out exactly what I can and can't have because if I'm out for the day and hungry, I've got to know what I can have. I cooked last night and prepared lunches for work (chicken salad) so I don't get caught off guard and end up eating something I shouldn't.
I'm here for you! Let's try to support each other and see if we can get this done once and for all! By Spring, we could see a big difference!

Hi,
I'm joining today. I guess I was having a hard time believing that this could work so I was searching around and eventually ended up here. I was happy to find others on this plan. So far, I've only had breakfast but it was great to be able to have 1 slice of whole wheat toast with my eggs + 1 cup of milk. I have bounced between low-carb and low-calorie for years, it seems. I do best on low carb but can't stick to it that long so then switch over to low calorie and then slowly end up eating too much and never really seem to get anywhere in my weight loss. This plan seems like something I can really do. I'm not a huge sugar eater anyway but I do like a small amount of carbs with my protein.
After reading your posts, I'm really hopeful and looking forwarded to being a part of this team! It was also very helpful that some of you listed what you actually eat. I'm excited and hopeful!

Been around here for a long time. Recently was introduced to the Metabolism Miracle. Sounded like a plan, but it is WAY too restrictive for me, and I got to thinking about the articles I see all the time BELLY GOOD BELLY BAD....and decided to check that out. Well have to say, this could be the secret for me....as I have been injesting WAY TOO MUCH SUGAR....hidden sugar, and have banged my head wondering what was wrong. I am hoping this will be the answer. With this plan I could start right away.....and since I am heading for a 2 week vacation, I am ARMED and READY!!!!

There are a bunch of alternatives to Clemmys which makes this plan fun when you find something new. I had a strawberry cream popsickle and it was wonderful. I cant remember the name but if i find it i will post. I love Dove sugar free candies which i use on pancakes in the morning. I have some turtle candies i am saving for when i recover from recent dental sugery. I am also searching for ways to have my carbs and be happy.

Isn't it funny how all of a sudden you can look down at your stomach and wonder to yourself, "Who put that there"?

Just started Jorge's slim, happy belly plan (free, by the way, on his site). Have 150 pounds to lose, but basically it's strict no sugar for 2 days then 5 days 15/6, and then back to the 2 day plan. 5 pounds down, 145 to go, lol

How do you track S/V on the team goal challenge? It won't let me put it in as 11/4 so how do you do it?

Hello, I have been a member of Spark People for a while now. Even was a leader of a team at one point. I just started following the Belly Fat Cure program. I have really become a believer in it, after reading about sugars. I am hoping that it does shrink my tummy. That is where all my gain is at and always has been. Exercise has never been my problem I like to exercise. It is the eating that is my problem; I love sweets, and especially breads, potatoes, and pastas. All things that are high carbs and turns into sugar. I have learned a lot reading his books. I have both the "Belly Fat Cure" and the "Fast Track" and he sent me "Slim Happy Belly" for women over 40. Which is what I am trying to follow. So, here I am to get support from others who are also following the program. I love the Spark People site I think it is awesome! Can't wait to get to know more of you.

Hi guys! I just wanted to introduce myself. I started this diet today (with hope!) I have tried atkins and south beach in the past with great success but I always end up binging because I love my carbs and feel so restricted on those diets and gain it back. :( I never have any success on weight watchers so I figured BFC will be the perfect balance. (15 g sugar, but can have my beloved carbs!- good ones that is) I am hoping, well praying this works!

wish me luck!!!!

Welcome Belinda - sorry I wasn't around to welcome you properly yesterday but it's nice to have you join us.

I know what it's like to get your head into weight loss mode, that's what makes it work right? The BFC program does work - I've lost 30lbs on it and I know others have lost a whole lot more than that.

Take care and see you around.

Hello, I am new to the group and just wanted to introduce myself. I've been off and on the better eating plan for years. However for the last 2 years or so I've been working out on a regular basis. Anywhere between 3-5 days a week. I have noticed the my health is better. I have much better endurance. I can run, play kickball, swim, do aerobics and everything and still have energy to keep moving. That's all wonderful and great benefits however I have yet to notice a difference when I look in the mirror. I've struggled with the scale going back and forth between 178-188 for the last 2 years. I heard about this BFC from a friend who said it works. I'm giving this a shot because something's got to change. I welcome any tips or tricks. Thanks

Hello Joye and emoticon to the team!

I've tried nearly every diet too, so I know how you feel. I'm glad you decided to give this one a try. I really does work! Btw, if you are grain-free, Jorge says chicken broth should do the trick....that or a good probiotic. The higher the strain of cultures, the better. The one I use has 25 million (or billion?) active strains or something like that.

I agree, once you get used to not having the sugars, the Stevia or Truvia (which I use) tastes a lot better.

I wish you the best on your weight loss journey and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Somebody here should be able to answer.

Hi Connie,

Do you happen to have the BFC book? I think that would help you a lot. He has foods to eat for the first few weeks to wean you off of sugar and gives you lots of other options to chose from. He also has a food index with S/C values so you can pick and choose which foods to eat.

I really can't help you regarding the sweetened/unsweetened drinks. I usually take my coffee or tea black or cream only. Cinnamon is a natural sweetener, you might be able to use that in your tea? Perhaps another member has an idea.

Yes, onions and bell peppers have sugar, most veggies do - it's all in making the right choice, the best choice. Here are some of the best no/low sugar veggie options: Broccoli, Cauliflower, Avocado, Spinach (fresh), Brussels Sprouts, Mushrooms, Asparagus.

I hope that helps a little!

I have had the book for a couple of years, but now I have decided to actually try the diet. It makes sense to me, I have been on every diet on the planet. This one has the carbs I need to keep my colon cleaned. I usually am constipated because I never eat any grains. So it is an element I am happy to add. Also, I am sick of a salad every day. Now I can have a sandwich, WOOOOHOOOO!! I am going to keep it simple with his basic diet on page 25 and then when I feel comfortable I will try some recipes. I love my low fat cottage cheese with chopped walnuts on it for a night time snack and I can have that on this diet, too. You have to get used to Stevia, it is a good substitute. OK, people, I can use all the help you have to offer! Joye :)

Today is my 3rd day on BFC team and having problems staying within the allowed sugars.I stopped adding Sweet n low to my tea since Monday but I didn't like Truvia or Stevia they have an after taste. So then I decided I would just use regular sugar but even with only 2 tsp per large glass I keep going over my sugars.Ok so today I decided to grow up and just learn to drink my ice tea without sugar or sweetners just lime or lemon. Now my other problem is I can't drink my 1 cup of coffee per day without my French Vanilla creamer 2 tbls is 8 sugars.Help! I need tips and advice. Also I never new onions and red bell peppers had sugar!

Hi Connie emoticon to the team!
How did your first day on BFC go? Is it making sense to you? Here's a breakdown of the S/C values.

Sugar - 15 grams of sugar per day period. When you read labels, you'll discover hidden sugar in food you never would have imagined.

6 Carbs servings - 5 to 20 grams of carbs = 1 carb serving

For instance, I had plain oatmeal (19g carb/0g sugar) for breakfast w/a tbsp of low-sugar peanut butter (1g sugar1/3g carb - btw anything less than 5g's of carbs isn't counted - woot!) and a packet of Truvia (0 S/C), and black coffee (0 S/C).

The S/C value was 1/1

Does that help at all? Hopefully I haven't confused you.

I guess I should have said a half an inch came off...not "inches"... hahaha... but that is something. I guess I just thought that I would lose 4-9 lbs in the first week like everyone else was saying....oh well. Keeping on it for sure! Thanks for the encouragement and words of supprt. Much needed! emoticon

Hello there and emoticon
Congrats on the 3lbs so far! Sometimes we lose the lbs and the inches have to catch up, but in this case, it's the reverse. I'm certain the weight will come off for you.
My weight came on a whole lot faster than it takes me to lose it. emoticon

I want to encourage you to keep it up! You certainly could do the FT and see how you do there. Are you familiar with the plan?

Wowzers you were a model - how cool! I wish you the best in your endeavors!

emoticon Hey everyone! I am new to this site. Started the BFC two Thursdays ago (so on day 13) and I have only lost 3 lbs. but have lost some inches. I am thinking about trying the FT for 14 days to kick start my weight loss and am wondering if that will help? I have about 20 lbs to lose and am super motivated. I was a pinup model about 4 years ago, wearing a size 2 and am now wearing size 10 jeans and not modeling... YIKES! It came so fast and is certainly unwelcome. My goal is to get back to a desirable size 5 (at least) and pursue modeling again. I miss it.

Any tips to give me to help me lose, LOSE, LOSE this unwanted fat? I am sticking to the books... writing EVERYTHING in a diet journal. I am staying at or well below the recommended 15/6 S/C value per day and it seems like a slow decline. Thankful for your SP group!

TTYS!

Hello Shawn and emoticon
Glad you've joined us. Wow, congrats on quitting smoking last year. That's awesome!

This way of eating is fair flexible. You can start off eating this way and slowly add the foods into your family's meals and take away the other stuff. See how that goes.

HI! My name is Shawn and this is my year to get healthy! Last year was an awful year for my family. However, I did manage to successfully quit smoking. This year, I'm focused on the rest of my body. I've had the BFC book for a while, I just haven't figured out how to get everyone else to eat that way. Then I started working crazy schedules that changed all the time and it really went out the window. Now I have no idea what's going on and really don't care. I'm going to make it happen one way or another! LOL

SO, Here I go! I will figure out how to incorporate this eating style into my life. One meal at a time. Healthy mom, I will be! :)

Fantastic Michelle and Melina! It's great to see you inspired to do the program. It really does work, as Melina said she saw her friend "shrinking."

We'll be looking forward to hearing about your progress!

Hi everyone my name is Melina. I started the belly fat cure after seeing how one of my friends is shrinking and thought it was time for a change with me too. I started this past Wednesday and let me say I'm above and beyond impressed. I'm on day 3 and I've lost 4lbs already!!! I' so excited to step on the scale every morning and excited to eat my YUMMY meals! For exercise, I do Body Combat and Body Pump for 1 hour M-F and on Saturday and Sunday I do Pilates for 40 minutes. I pray that my blessings that I' recieving from this new lifestyle just continue to rub off onto my family. It is such a relief to not have to think about calories and fat. Please come by and visit me and watch me shrink. I will post a new pic at every weigh-in on fridays! I didn't weigh in today because I wanted to get my body a full week on the program. Talk to ya'll soon.

In the past it's been all about losing the weight, today it's about enjoying the journey.

I lost 25 lbs on the BFC and I've done the Fast Track and lost about 12lbs on that. I'm sure there are a lot of members with a lot of experience besides me, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

This is day one for me. I have the book and the fast track guide as well. I have tried and failed at almost every diet, either from lack of motivation or not following it correctly. I am 42, 5'4 and weight 200 lbs. The heaviest I have been in my whole life. I am going to give this two weeks 100% and see what happens. I am tracking everything I eat. I would love any tips anyone has. Good Luck to all

Today is my second day and boy am I having sugar withdrawal!! My head feels like it is going to explode emoticon Best thing today is I found the Clemmy's ice cream at our local Sprouts store
