Hope all is well

Another rainy day - but it's more refreshing today!

I am a glutton for punishment and put in Cathe's Muscle Endurance again today. I could feel it from the get-go - ahhhhh! I wish the myth was true that I would get bulky from working with weights! I am just not one to gain much muscle - a tiny definition if you look for it, but that's it. But, it's worth it all for how much better I feel and how my clothes fit.

Terri - it is true for me, too - I don't feel the effects of non-clean food as much if I eat it with a meal - mainly if I eat it as a meal replacement. I do find that keeping around 70% dark chocolate is a must! If I don't I crave something - and I really have to fight not to eat something I shouldn't. A little bit of dark chocolate hits the spot!

I'm stinking and sweaty - just how I should be! "I feel good! Na-na-na-na-na-na-na!"

Weight loss countdown:
15 pounds to go!

Don't force the numbers, they'll come. My job today is to adhere to a winning pattern of action that I know will produce results if I follow it consistently. (hussmanfitness.org)

Chaz - She is a KILLER for sure emoticon

Amazing how the non-foods ZAP energy.
(I've re-discovered that if I am to eat something with sugar in it AND eat that WITH a healthy meal, I don't have any evil repercussions...(not that I plan on partaking of non-clean foods often, but IF I choose to....with my meal is the only time for me)

Have a great rainy day in Ohio...

The humidity is slowing lifting and the rain is going away! I just finished Muscle Endurance - well, I didn't finish it, it finished me. I am a sopping sweaty - even with a fan on me! When Cathe mentioned a 3rd set of leg presses - I had to quit - my arms and legs are quivering. I had to even stop sometimes during the workout to catch my breath. Wow! What a workout! I looked at DH - and urged me on - no pain, no gain. I am so lucky to have such a guy!

Day 2 of not eating junk! Yea! Energy level is climbing once more!

I've got a few hours to myself - yeah! So right after this - going to do some step for cardio - then abs - and break out the sweat.

Day 1 of getting my eating back under control. I've gained 4 pounds now - and will not let it go any further. (Yesterday my boss gave me an apple fritter - which he never does - of course I ate it! But I did turn down DQ ice cream cake later that night. Starting today -- no more junk - except for a designated 2 cheat meals per week.

Ready for this rainy weather to clear up - it's wreaking havoc upon my sinuses - although I know we do need the rain! Just rain and get it over with, rather than hanging around all day!

Terri - You are totally right - system is everything. If I don't make time for my priorities, then everything gets out of whack. Working out is definitely one of my priorities!

I didn't feel like working out tonight, but I knew I'd be mad at myself later if I didn't. I just finished Push Pull strength training - I feel like a wet rag after working so hard - but it feels so good! I am so glad I can make an ice cold whey protein shake and enjoy it without feeling guilty - because I know it's good for building and keeping the muscle I've worked so hard on in my workout! Yeah! emoticon

I slept well last night, and felt great today!

Only 30 minutes of strength training today - but I pushed and pulled hard! Back on the schedule and it feels so good!

Terri - I think you hit the nail on the head -- losing track of our priorities causes us to feel like we're losing control of many other things that we hold dear.

Workout last night was great - I am working back up to a 55 minute workout - my muscles were TIRED after about 45 minutes - but surprisingly no DOMS today. It just takes awhile to build back up the stamina and strength!

Cardio today! I've got to decide what to do -- but I will get it done!

Schedule control is a wonderful thing.
I always feel so 'out of it' when I lose track of my priorities.

Hope you enjoy/ed your workout.

I did kickbox this am...not my fav...BUT, the biceps portion was GREAT.

It is so wonderful to sleep like a rock at night after a hard workout! I'm loving it! I definitely lost some muscle tone but I'm hoping to "feel" strong pretty quickly after I get in the groove again. I miss that feeling in control and strong, rather than letting life get in the way. (I needed the break, however!)

I can't until my strength training workout tonight!

I exercised for about 1 hour the last 2 days - I forgot how much adjustment it takes to get back up there. I'm whipped! Plus, I've got a lot of other "mental" stuff on my plate at work. But - I'm back in the game to stay! It feels good!

After some reflection, that's another reason why we need to continue to workout, so we can continue to lead our hectic lives and have the energy to do it!

I did Push/Pull tonight - I worked hard, and was able to lift heavier than I did before STS. I slept like a rock last night because I pushed myself, and I'm sure I will again! I'm so in!!!! I so need to work out!!!!

I also took a 10 minute walk just before sundown. Would have gone further, but my 10yo dd wore lousy shoes that were killing her. She wanted to do something together afterwards - how could I refuse? (I'm also exercising and eating healthy for my family's sake, so that I can keep up with them and feel fabulous!)

Oh, I feel so out of it and I'm tired of being out of it! I'm jumping back in! I've been working out, but not as diligently as before. I popped on the scale today after eating lousy all weekend and I gained 3 pounds - and I'm not going up any further! I worked out hard last night, and told everyone in my family that enough is enough. I HAVE to have a regular schedule of working out. I am not sleeping as well, I don't have as much energy, I refuse to lose what I've worked so hard to gain. You know what my 12 yo old daughter said? I was wondering when you were going to get back on your schedule!

Thanks Terri, for popping in once in awhile and wondering where I've been. I think I needed a break from the computer, too. Now, I'm ready to kick some booty!

Now I truly know why people can't wait for their teens to drive - my girls aren't involved in that much, but they have 2 different schedules! I'm happy, though, that they are having fun and are active. I'm more sedentary because I'm driving and waiting....but still getting maintenance exercise in -- hopped on the scale and still the same. A girl's gotta do, what a girl's gotta do! I will not lose muscle tone and gain weight!!

AC is OUT in the exercise room.
BUT, I was up this morning before 6am getting it done...and stayed pretty cool.
Good thing my body temp is ~94'
My hands were so cold this morning when I touched a co-worker on the arm she screamed as to how cold I was....another one begged me to put my hands down her neck to cool her off.
CRAZY.....(and they say I dont' have thyroid problems.......yeah - right!)

The heat is crazy hot here in Ohio. It's hard to even be outside! Well, with my running kids around, I don't have much time to spend outside anyway. But - exercise is going well this week - yes, it's supposed to be a rest week for the challenge, but I got some unscheduled rest the other weeks - so I needed to ramp it up early.

I'm back to workout tapes, and I definitely needed the cheering of "Cathe" to keep me working hard. I did Lower Body Pyramid last night - it was shockingly hard! I did lift heavier weights in most parts, but after completely Cathe's STS, I thought it would be easier.

Working out hard, brings wonderful sleep!

Oh my goodness - life is absolutely crazy now that school is out for my girls and my job is hectic now with summer activities. I am crazy! I am doing my best to get my workouts in, but I have to admit this week it's been very hard, because I'm sooo tired. I'm not giving up, though! I need a really good night's sleep - that will be tonight.

Determined to stay on track, despite all obstacles!

Summer is one of my favorite seasons too. With the extra daylight and activities you can do, I think it just makes you feel more fit.

It sounds like you are getting your workouts in even though you are running all over the place. Good for you for being determined to maintain the muscle you've built!

Talk to you later,
Patrick

Wow! I miss getting on Sparkpeople - our internet has been acting up again! We're only able to get on late at night. Lately I've been so tired, I haven't had the energy to check in.

My cardio has suffered a bit lately due to working and running kids here, there and everywhere - but that should slow down after tomorrow - thank goodness! We're all tired! But - I am definitely dedicated to getting my strength training in, no matter what. I am going to keep the muscle I've already gained!

My strength training routine is not as good as following my Cathe's workouts, but it's been a nice change to follow the Oxygen workouts for the month.

I'm loving the warm weather and longer days - I love summer!

Got home late last night and I was tempted to just chill. But, I knew I hadn't done my workout, so I put my workout clothes on and walked determinedly downstairs to lift weights. I had a great workout and felt soooo good!

Nutrition on the whole is pretty good - but could be much better! Temptation is always there rearing it's ugly head. Most times I resist it, sometimes I don't. I'm strong and determined, but not perfect by any means.

Today, walk/run and abs. I did 50 crunches using the ab equipment and 20 pounds. It really hits my upper abs - I hope to see some tightening up there. Where I really need the help is on my lower abs - I'm standing on a platform and lifting up my lefts to a sitting position - tough! It's amazing how working just your abs can leave me breathless!

See Chazmo Run....Run, Chazmo Run.

Glad you're having a great summer.
I, too, have not been online as much lately....
I miss everyone terribly, but my life is more balanced now....
Where does the time go? I haven't quite figured that out yet, but when I do....I'll fill you in.

Difficult to believe that this is the end of Week #2 ALREADY.....I do like these shorter challenges...and then rest week. After so many BFL sessions back to back - I feel like this is living! :o)

I understand how the internet thing is. I've just now replaced my laptop and I have to admit I'm online a bit more since.

You are so motivated, I never had any doubt you were hard at work. I think being sick would be about the only thing that would knock us out of the game. Keep up the good work my friend!

Hey - Patrick - I've been doing good! Thanks for checking up on me - I've been missing coming here. My internet connection at home has been on the fritz - you know how that is!

Strength training for me: I'm loving the break of just working with weights and machines - I'm pushing myself as much as I did with the dvd, though. I'm also loving getting outside as much as I can for cardio - walking and running. I'm loving this summer weather.

I am so thankful that I've been so faithful to my workouts - summer clothes really show my efforts off!
It's worth all the blood, sweat and tears I've been putting into my workouts. There's no stopping me!

Yesterday, 1.5 mile walk/run, then strength training routine with lots of stretching. The outside air smelled so good - I could still smell the rain lingering in the air after spotty showers all day. It felt so good to do cardio and strength training! I can't do that all the time, because other things in my house are being neglected - oops!

Nutrition, strong! I am going to get some 70% dark chocolate, though. A square of that once in awhile does wonders in feeling like I've indulged, but it's still decent. Lifts my mood, and gives me enough of a sweet treat.

Thanks guys! I tried on a pair of size 6 Levi jeans - they fit! I have never been able to wear size 6! Yippee! No more weight has been lost - just continuing to tone up bit by bit. Slow and steady is my mantra here - and I'm slowly winning the race against flab and unhealthy habits!

I can feel my body responding to the heavy weights again regular cardio after a break. Feels great! Nutrition is really getting back on track. It helps so much to have the next small meal planned out - I can always convince myself, if tempted to eat something that I know I shouldn't, that I will eat again in about 1 hour. It's not true hunger I'm suffering from - just "I feel like eating something else..."

Awesome! I can tell, too, when the body is working at its peak based on good fueling. Your dog must have been really happy to do the 2 miles. The two labs that often join me about a mile into my run actually followed me all the way back to my house yesterday. It's fun running with (friendly) dogs.

I'm on track again - routine is a good thing! Strength training last night - a variety of exercises to hit various large body parts, 3 times this week. I took extra time to get some stretching in - something I learned last time, now that I'm really pushing myself to lift as heavy as I can in order to gain muscle. Then it was such a nice night, I took my dog on a 2 mile walk/run. Starting to gain energy again after getting the junk out of my system! Yippee!

Terri -Now you're making me hungry - I have a recipe that I forgot all about for making cheesecake with ricotta cheese from Eating for Life cookbook - I am definitely going to have to get that out! Yum!

Today, another picnic - I wasn't so strong today - I sampled a couple of desserts. Only the chocolate brownie was good. But - I could have eaten more - and I didn't!!!

I am ready and raring for my cardio after my food digests. Yeah!!!

Chaz - (thanks for the goodie emoticon )
Your workout machine sounds like a great plan.
There are so many different muscles that are involved with cables/weights than simply dumbbells.

emoticon on your fortitude regarding chocolate cake. Cheesecake at least has a lot of protein - especially when made with ricotta or cottage cheese. Mmmmmmmmm........

Happy Memorial Day!

Day 1 of Challenge #5! What a challenge!

Nutrition: Not a great start to the challenge. We went to a cookout, and it was tough to pass up the chocolate cake, brownies and cheesecake there -- all my favorites - did they know that? But I had made up my mind, and I wasn't going to cheat, especially the first day. I face another get together tomorrow with loads of food - I guess it's better to face it now than 2 weeks from now. It feels good knowing that I did not give in

Workout: I taking a break from exercise dvd's for 2 weeks, and doing our PowerTech down the basement. It has a leverage system, so it will be fun to lift heavier, knowing that I can't drop the weight. I want to do those pull ups in Cathe's Shock Training System -that's one of my goals - so I worked on lat pull downs using an overhand and an underhand grip.

It felt weird, but great, to be back on a schedule of workouts, after taking a week off.

Posting for my benefit and public commitment:

Getting Buffed Challenge #5 = May 24 thru June 20
Rest Week #5 = June 21 thru June 27 Stretch / Yoga

Challenge:

My weekly workout schedule will be:
3-5 days of cardio training: 20-40 minutes, including HIIT
3-4 days of strength training: 45 minutes
1 day of rest

4-6 SMALL meals/day - EAT CLEAN. Remember:
80% nutrition, 10% heredity; 10% exercise

Part of the challenge, but easy for me:
7 hours of sleep/night - if I don't get about 8 hours I am grouchy - so I know I need it!
8-12 glasses of water daily - love it!

Nutrition is a bitch. Plain and simple.

Eating the right GOOD foods is difficult enough in our society - then add into the equation that we have to be MODERATE in those GOOD things....
It's just A beeotch ....PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

I haven't gotten back the results of my thyroid / menopause tests yet....
but, this morning I'd had enough of being dog-tired...(for me...everyone else thinks I have a lot of energy, but I used to have a TON of energy...I want it back)
anyway...
This morning I took three of my thyroid herbs.
I felt better today than I have in over 5 weeks...
that's how long it's been since I took them.

Looking forward to the increased cardio and new workouts.

Sunday here we come!

I have to admit that during this rest week, I haven't been doing a whole lot of "active recovery". I guess I just needed the break. I will definitely be stepping it up on Sunday, though!

Once again, my goal is to tighten up my nutrition. I basically eat right, but if I go off a little, I gain 3 pounds immediately. I think I need to practice portion control!

Patrick - Your support means a lot to me, too. Thank you so much!

I just finished my last Plyo Legs for the Mesocycle. I was whipped! I thought I'd better do it early, or else I wouldn't have the energy to do it at all - that workout takes it all out of me! I have to admit that I watched the time throughout - not because I didn't like it, but because I'm such a wimp at doing plyos. I didn't cheat myself and take it easy - I put forth a lot of effort in the workout. It will be interesting to see how much better I get at plyos next time, and the next, and the next.

Awesome report! One of the key indicators of maintaining the healthy lifestyle is when you can stay on track when life throws unexpected twists in front of you. It seems you handle them really well.

You were wise in being cautious about not overdoing it when your body was telling you it was a bit taxed. You will be able to come back stronger during your next workout.

Enjoy your nephew's wedding! We just went to my buddy's wedding and had a good time.

I am finishing up Week #4 and the last mesocycle this week. It would be so easy to let workouts slide because the weather has been nice, the kids' schedule, etc. - you name it, I could make an excuse out of it - BUT I WON'T. I have definitely learned this past year of doing challenges, that even though it's hard and life gets in the way so many times, it's worth it to workout and eat clean! I just feel so much better - energy-wise and showing some muscle (not a lot, but a little). I may have to copy this into a blog...

Anyway, I just finished Chest and Back last night - I held back a little because one of the muscles in my right chest was still a little sore and I did not want to make it worse. I would have loved to have added a pound or two, knowing that it wasn't wise to go up another 5 pounds. Wrist weights will be my next fitness purchase! All in all, my last Chest & Back workout of this mesocycle was great! I'm feeling strong!

One thing I've definitely learned during this last few weeks is to control my cravings more - I've consistently eaten cleaner this mesocycle since January 1. My energy level was soaring because of it.

I need to knock it into my head to stretch, stretch, stretch. When my energy level soared, I had a tendency to lift a little heavier than I should have. No dire consequences, but some soreness that made me take the next workouts a little lighter. Adding 1-2 pound weights next time will help that, like I mentioned earlier.

Well, gotta go! I may do Legs tonight - otherwise, I won't finish this week. (I'm leaving on Friday morning to go to North Carolina for the weekend to my nephew's wedding. I'm looking forward to the break from the norm of life!)

I just finished working Shoulders, Triceps and Biceps. I made sure I got all of my stretches in, because I was very sore last week. I sometimes focus on writing down what weight I lifted and compare it to last week, and skimp on my stretches. Not anymore! I've learned it's not worth skimping on the stretches - and risk injury.

I feel so energized after a great workout - I'm posting, then I'm going to take a walk outside. The weather is sunny, cool and perfect for a walk/run!

Terri - I have no idea how I sleep after working out at 10pm - but I do go straight to bed. I just do not have the energy to get up earlier in the morning - I'm on autopilot at that time of day. When I know the only time I have is 10pm, somehow I conserve my energy and am ready and raring to workout. If I've worked out earlier in the day, I'm too tired to do anything at 10...

Do you ever have those days (or even a week) where you want to work out, have the determination to do so, but you're counting down the minutes of the workout? That's me this week. I don't know what it is -- hormones, maybe. But - I'm not quitting - because I know how important it is to keep it up and I've made a committment to myself to finish up this mesocycle and challenge - and I'm going to do it!

Terri - Yes, it was a beautiful weekend! Another volleyball tournament, so I was inside most of the day. But, I went to a bonfire and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows on Saturday night -- so relaxing!

Life has been busy, but I am so determined not to let my strength training go by the wayside. I was already to workout at 9pm last night, but the tv's were all taken -- I mentioned something to my 14yo daughter that I was going to workout -- she said, "But I've been waiting to do something with you all evening!" Well, what could I say? We watched a past episode of "Lost." It was worth it.

But that meant another 10pm workout - oh well! While watching, I did not let my energy drop because I was determined to do my workout!

Sunday; Shoulders, Triceps and Biceps; Monday, Chest and Back. I felt absolutely fabulous last night - and very strong! I don't like to do two heavy workouts like that back to back, but I was behind schedule from last week, so I wanted to get them both in!

Nutrition; definitely some laxness over the weekend, but I'm back at it again. I'm still holding steading between 135 and 137 pounds.

Tuesday, I'm looking forward to a cardio workout outside, and abs!

Glad your healed. It's a horrible thing to try to work with a pulled muscle.

Loving STS....definitely stronger and it helps so much with the yard work.

Hope you had a BEAUTIFUL weekend.

Monday, April 27:
I just finished Chest & Back - pain free! I had pulled a neck muscle last Friday - it felt alot better on Saturday, then even better on Sunday. But, I waited until today to do Chest & Back to make sure I was completely over it. Great workout! I definitely checked what weights I lifted last week - I lifted the same but didn't feel as strong - maybe I wasn't as surprised that I could really lift that much. I didn't eat as clean as I should have this weekend, and that has a lot to do with my energy/strength reserves, too. I did 25-40 pounds on each exercise, except for the warm-up - woo hoo! Is that really me? Yah!

Sorry to hear about your pulled muscle.
It is SO tempting to get those weights up high - especially when looking at the crew and their weights....but, I am DETERMINED to finish STS strong...

My walk/run with my dog was great! This weather is so invigorating! I did abs next - what a killer! Lately, I've been working out so hard and eating very clean - I have no trouble sleeping at night - and I feel refreshed in the morning.

This morning I did Shoulders, Biceps and Triceps. I pulled a neck muscle on my right side - ouch! I can move and I finished my workout, but I am so glad for the rest until Sunday - I'm hoping it will be better until then. That's what I get for pushing it a little too much, I guess!

I have another cardio/ab workout on Saturday, but overall, one of my best weeks, yet for eating and working out!

Okay, Terri - now I want Gym Style workout series!!!!

It will definitely be interesting to go back to the older series of workouts after STS - we won't be the same again. It would be very interesting to lift heavier with a longer rest cycle in her other workouts -- that's an excellent idea!

I did Plyos and Legs yesterday. Monday, I felt strong doing chest and back. Yesterday, I felt "wimpy, wimpy, wimpy"! I was determined to do as much as I could, but boy was that hard! It was great, though. It was a very nice change to move from weights to plyos and back again. I'm really surprised I'm not sore today - I guess I didn't work as hard as I thought I did. I will definitely remember that next week when I do my next Plyos/Legs workout. That's definitely one thing I've learned in the last 8 weeks - I push myself more than I thought I could as I'm adding weights progressively.

It's great, too, now that it's nice weather and short sleeve or sleeveless shirt weather is here or around the corner -- it's making me eat cleaner so that I can get great results. I ate a mixture of: plain yogurt, water packed, drained tuna, cut up apple and green pepper the other day for lunch. It tasted good and was very filling!

Tonight is cardio and abs - it's beautiful outside - I'm definitely going for a walk with my dog!

I'm loving Mesocycle #3 and the heavier weights as well.

I can see where incorporating this technique in with some of the other workouts (GymStyle)could be adventageous.
ie: Cathe does 12 reps with 15#...I only do 8 reps with 20-25# that would give me a rest time waiting for her to finish. I'm going to try it next challenge...for now....YEAH MESOCYCLE #3

Chaz,

I couldn't agree more. I need big diet help and I always fight with this area. I think I have read everything under the sun and most all of it still don't make sense.

Good job on your workout. Keep that momentum going. You are doing great.

I just completed Chest & Back workout of STS. It was so nice only doing 8 reps. I loved Cathe saying right up front, "Fight for the 8th rep, if you could have gone to 12 reps, then you're lifting too light." That caused me to go heavier than I ever have before! I was surprised at how fast the rests went as the workout went on -- I needed every second!

After doing this morning's workout, It really hit home how important diet is in having the energy to push through every rep. I'm so glad I've been focusing on that lately, otherwise I would have petered out.

Last week was active recovery week -- the rest was fun because as the week got nicer, it was great to go outside and walk again! I'm looking forward to starting Mesocycle #3! (I will start on Monday - I was gone all day Sunday - no strength to do anything once I got home!) Diet is clean - and ready to go! Will post more later.

Last week, April 5 - April 11th, the kids were off for spring break, then my sister and family came into town. That made working out and eating right a bit more of a challenge. I did all my strength training (finished Mesocycle #2), but slacked on my cardio. After 8 weeks of using the STS system by Cathe, I can see results - I can see more muscles popping out, and hope of a flat stomach - plus I'm stronger! Eating was tough, but I tried to stay true by bringing along food most of the time.

This week, is still a challenge - it's an active recovery week - and after slacking a bit last week it's taking every ounce of energy and determination to get some discipline back in eating. I keep saying "tomorrow, tomorrow." Well, I am exercising this week - and I am telling myself I'm taking a tiny break before I really buckle down on eating next Sunday - the start of the new cycle!

I've found that sometimes I need somewhat of a break before I buckle down again. That's the plan!

Thursday, 4.2.09: Did my Back & Biceps - to tell you the truth, now that it's Monday, I have no idea how that workout was -- but I KNOW it was fabulous, because STS is the best! I do remember that I had missed an ab workout earlier in the week, so I did one to get my 3 in. I can see very slow progress in firming up my abs - but it IS progress!

Friday, 4.3.09: Cardio & abs - I had a little window to do my cardio and abs, and grabbed it, because I knew I would not feel like doing anything on Saturday or Sunday. I also did abs - oh boy, oh boy - I really felt it today after just doing abs the day before!

Sunday -- I was way too tired to do workouts, so there was no way I was going to do it halfway -- better to save it for Monday.

Nutrition: Good on the weekend except for Sunday night - went to a Confirmation party and had cake and a cookie. Not terrible, but I definitely feel the after affects of poor eating.

Monday, 4.6 - just finished Chest, Shoulders & Triceps. Working that area of the body is always the hardest workout each week when I'm actually doing it. (Although I feel more DOMS from Legs.) Muscles were quivering - I had to do a few growls to get the last few reps in.

Did 37 minutes of HIIT cardio on the treadmill before having to stop - I can't even remember why! I planned on doing abs afterwards, but I was still abnormally full from dinner (protein french toast) two-three hours afterwards. Later on, it was too late to workout, I'd already started to relax for the evening - that's too bad, because I need the ab workout.

Nutrition is continuing to be healthy for the most part. Fortunately, very few temptations have been in my way, too - that always helps!

A beautiful day in central Ohio!

I did my Legs workout last night - tough, but doable! My calves were burning last night. I'm lifting as heavy as I can (I think heavier than the 80% of 1RM, just because I really want to see muscle gains when I don my short sleeve shirts. Unfortunately, muscle gains are hard to come by with my body type -- but I'm hoping that they will show as I keep working on it. I could feel some DOMS in my glutes today, bending over, kneeling down, etc. - it felt great!

Coming to terms with my weight after the last few days - I'll probably never look "ripped" without a super strict diet because of my body type - but I hope I will look like I'm "fit" and "slim" as I continue to eat as clean as possible, strength train and cardio. That's what I need to focus on - I will also focus on MY scale, because it's a good way for me to keep control of my weight because I tend to gain weight easily if I don't watch it.

Just have to post - I'm thinking aloud here from the experience I had at the doctor's office yesterday:

The scale is just a number...yes, I "look good" in my clothes; yes, most people that I know can tell that I've lost weight; yes, I've mostly lost a pant size.

But, I could definitely lose more fat so that the muscle I'm building shows off more. I guess I need to find out what is my accurate weight - because if I'm doing the home body fat test - if I actually weigh more than maybe my body fat isn't even in the "healthy" range - maybe it's higher. I'm going to have to do some more research... Mmmmmm

Nutrition is still going strong the last several days.

Workout:
3.27: Friday, nothing - I had a virus on Thursday night and did not feel like working out at all on Friday or Saturday.

3.29: I took a long nap, then felt like doing Chest, Shoulders and Triceps: what a workout! my arms were shaking on many of the reps but I did them all. I feel wimpy and stronger at the same time. I was surprised when I didn't feel DOMS today.

3.30: I did 20 minutes of Yoga based Abs - I was pathetic at it. When you had to sit in a lotus position and lift your legs off the floor - well, that didn't happen! My height is in my legs so there was no way they were coming off the floor - I did try little jumps to get them in the air, but it was more or a workout for my arms than my abs. Since I didn't feel like I got much of a workout, I did another ab workout and felt good about it - a tiny bit stronger than the last time I did that workout! I then did a basic step workout - after 40 minutes of abs, I petered out after 30 minutes - but I did get my cardio in and had fun with it!

I went to the doctor today and stepped on their scale - ugh - it was different than mine at home. Of course I had just eaten lunch and had a shirt, sweatshirt, jeans, jean jacket and tennis shoes on - but now I'm wondering what time of day should I weigh myself to get an accurate reading. I feel like I'm deceiving myself when I say that I'm at my goal weight... Better cut back again - I want to truly be at 135 not 9 pounds higher!

Patrick - thanks for struggling with me - it's great to hear that your nutrition is finally where it needs to be, too!

Thursday: Back & Biceps: I really can't believe that I'm lifting more weight than I ever have before in my life. I was doing seated alternating curls last night - DH came in the room and asked if I was using 8 lb dumb bells - I promptly told him I was using 15 lb dumb bells. He was really impressed. This workout is not for sissies!

Nutrition: Great! I feel like I'm back on track again! I've got to keep reminding myself that I've had my cheat meals earlier this week, so I can't cheat this weekend.

Terri - I'm sitting on the fence a bit regarding Cathe's Shock Cardio - probably because the STS is so new and I haven't gotten bored, yet. I was SO ready for STS because I was getting so bored with my strength training workouts, it was perfect timing. I probably will order it this weekend -- I keep looking at the posts and deciding - I'm sure I'll kick myself when the time changes again and I don't have it, and I read about everyone else doing it and loving it!

Funny you should post about nutrition. I'm having my ups and downs, but I am learning alot! You know how you coast for awhile, then something clicks? That's how I've been lately. Maybe it's reading and re-reading the Oxygen magazines. I can completely understand what you're saying about many other people can eat things in moderation, but you cannot. I am realizing how much highly processed foods really affect me - more tired and sluggish, etc. I am so glad it's really clicking for you!

Workout on Wednesday: Basic step with Cathe - fun, fun, fun! Did the abs workout - my abs are s-l-o-w-l-y getting stronger! I can tell in my jeans. I thought if I only ate cleaner and did stronger cardio, I would lose that paunch just below the belt - no - that helps, but I definitely need to strengthen those muscles to shrink it!
